These characters were a big part of my life. My uncle and grandfather loved them and passed that to me. I loved them. My friends loved them. We talked about them, played with their toys, played their games, watched their shows and their movies, got older and even passed them on to our own kids. Seeing them destroyed is more than just some corporate thing.
They shouldn't nor you should teach your children to give them more value than they deserve. These characters have no agency or values beyond their writers.
No story in human history has any agency or value beyond its storyteller, that doesn't invalidate their role in culture, or the value that malicious actors place on destroying them or subverting them.

The most obvious problem for this storyline is that Selina's scheme is breathtakingly stupid. The story would just be Batman rolling Catwoman's gang of losers in half an issue if the bulk of the Batfamily wasn't swayed by Selina, so they all come across as really really stupid.
This is sub-Civil War levels of writing, either one. This is a complete failure of the writer and editor.

Batman can't find Jason in the rubble, but it's clearly shown that Jason survived getting his throat cut by Batman when the bombs went off.

At the start of Crisis, Jason would have traveled back in time to fight Infinity Inc early in their careers but end up via the Crisis stuck on Earth 1 and somehow survive as a time anomaly who kept his memories when everything merged post-Crisis and after Zero Hour. And that UTRD would be explicitly tied to the lead up to Infinite Crisis with Alex Luthor hooking up with Jason and having him go after Bruce to keep him busy so he wouldn't see the moves Alex was making to cause IC to happen.
Winnick thought that was too convoluted and counterpitched Jason being retcon punched back to life and retconning Jason's appearance in Hush being really being him after finding a page in the issue where Jason could have switched places with Clayface.

Dick Grayson, not Superboy, was supposed to be killed by Superboy Prime in IC #6 and that after surviving getting his throat slashed by a Batarang, Jason was going to further his crusade against Bruce by assuming Dick's identity as far as becoming the new Nightwing to further torment him and even taking over the Outsiders (Batman's old team).
Bruce Jones (who wrote Nightwing post-IC) and Judd Winnick have both stated point blank this was the plan until Geoff begged to save Dick Grayson from dying. Both the first post-IC Outsiders arc and the bulk of Jones' short Nightwing runs were written explicitly with Jason as the main lead and had to be rewritten to basically have the main character be Dick. While Dick's solo book managed to make it work, Jones opted out quickly because of the nightmare of the last minute rewrites while the Outsiders arc that had to be rewritten to make it Dick running the team not Jason, had Dick act 100% out of character and made a lot of people pissed off.

Everything was mismanaged for a long time. Honestly I think the first nail in the coffin was agreeing to the CCA all those years ago, it crippled everything.
