old movies are truly horrifying.

watch it for yourself and tell me that it doesn't shake you to the core:

Just wait till AI analyzes all the information available about people who died and recreates their consciousness in cyber space.

      Anonymous

the information would largely be incomplete so we'd have shambling echoes of half-phantoms on autopilot haunting the living instead. which is still pretty fricking spooky

      Anonymous

In fact this is likely happening right now on off the grid government super computer sites. Essentially a new universe is being created using all the information being collected by the collective consciousness that is the internet. Go even deeper and realize this process is how we exist here, as projections into a 3d realm through the same process. We are just information. You were a living person in the "real world" and your current consciousness was synthesized by AI into this digital world which to use is indistinguishable from the "real world".

I never understood the people who focus on that fact when watching old stuff. I wonder if there's a correlation between people who feel that way and people who can't separate art from the artist. I just see the Three Stooges as characters, not actors playing characters.

Every movie released today star people that will die and rot away too. You will see every current living actor age in real time and die. Unless you die an early. Stop over-thinking death.

There's a fair possibility eternal life will be achieved within the next 100 years, coupled with life extended technology it is foreseeable that some movie stars of today may actually never die.

No it's not you zoomer iPad child. It's a window into the past. All of these people would feel honored that you care enough to enjoy their work.

I've thought this all the time, and have even checked to see who's alive out of old stuff I watch. It's interesting. It's a window into the past. Grow up and grow a pair, little zoomer.

Very old films are really cool, I think, insofar as they often show that not all that much has changed. Metropolis is 100 years old and uses an assload of conventions still used by Cyberpunk today (no doubt because Blade Runner was basically just Metropolis fused with Dick's story). It's even got some Japanese stuff thrown in there. Casablanca isn't much younger but in a lot of ways it feels like a contemporary film.

I think my favorite part about 20s and 30s properties is they really didn't have doubles back then, it was either the actual actor or a dummy
But really I find it crazy that they were able to play their roles with such immense discipline, I don't know how Curly could take a slap and immediately make Zoidberg noises without pissing his pants laughing

Futuristic people will be in the VR going to 1920s movie theaters and watching old movies. It will be fashionable to live in virtual eras of the past. Flying around in jet packs. Or rolling in carriages. You will seem like a total idiot to want to return to base reality.

I like tracking the awareness of space in old movies. During a recent horror movie marathon it was interesting to see a film where no one looked up (the Mummy) to two guys having a conversation about building observatories in California (the Wolf Man) to space travel being a possible thing (Creature from the Black Lagoon)
