    Can someone explain why

    >game of thrones needs diversity, who cares if it’s based on European fantasy?
    >the Witcher needs diversity. Who cares if it’s based on polish mythology?
    >Avatar MUST have an all Asian cast! It’s setting is vaguely Asian. Look! Dragons and shit!

diversity isnt contained within a show, its cumulative of all media. so the idea is to increase the total proportion of nonwhite characters present in everything.

The Witcher is even worse: there's literally no black people because the people are all Pollacks stolen from dark age Poland by aliens.

Those two examples, while having a Europe-based setting, canonically have distant regions representing the rest of the world. GoT has canon non-white characters, and the Witcher has the area called Beyond the Seas which is known to be based on the Middle East and Asia, and likely more continents reflecting our own world.

Avatar, on the otherhand, has its entire planet mapped out. There's no secret fifth nation that's mentioned, just the four. There is one culture that depicts Caucasoids, however.

Bruh, there are a ton of black people in the ASoIaF books. It is not, in any way, set in a world where only Fantasy Europe exists.
    >the Witcher needs diversity. Who cares if it’s based on polish mythology?
    Yeah this is dumb.

      >Bruh, there are a ton of black people in the ASoIaF books

Yeah, they come from a specific place and a specific culture. It made sense. It was southern, hot and tropical. The one major black character in the books was Jalabhar Xho, an exiled prince from the summer islands. They cut him from the show

Pic related is Corlys Velaryon from the new game of thrones series. He’s meant to be a pure blooded valyrian. You know, the pale purple eyed race who have silve blond hair.

So obviously he’s black, even though part of the story demands his grandchild not be immediately recognisable not his

        >The one major black character in the books was Jalabhar Xho
Well, there's Missandei and others. Race is kinda weird and vague in those books tbh - for example, Arianne Martell's parents are white, but many of her descriptions make her sound like a lighter shade of Ethiopian black.

The Velaryons being black is funny though. It makes a little sense, seeing as the Valyrians were a big empire that brought a lot of people into the fold in their middle period, but the black skin / white hair look is just off.

And? Isn’t the point they look white for the roles which require it?

Or do you buy into real life “races”

He was a pretty major butthole so if you're a white supremacist you should be happy he's getting cast as non-white.

You underestimate how white Indians can look. My family thought the guy playing jafar in aladdin remake was white-washed.
