It is not his final film. He'll take a decade long break from film and write plays or books but I can guarantee he'll direct another film or two in his 70's. They'll be personal projects for him and not as grand as his earlier shit but all successful directors eventually come out of retirement when they go senile.

He'll come back within ten years of retirement. The second he realises that his fame is waning and his films aren't regarded as masterpieces that overshadow every conversation about cinema, he'll come crawling back.
He'll probably start by writing tv episodes and films for other directors to try and avoid "technically" breaking his retirement. But it won't be long before he makes another film and autistically wets himself thinking of it as "the final masterpiece from cinema legend Quentin Tortillini" for all the youngsters who never got to see one of his films in cinema at the time of their release
