And your friends become boring after a certain age, it's just sitting around drinking expensive micro brewery beer and overpriced wine and complaining about the interest and how the economy is going down the shitter.
Then you hit 40 and you havent seen a friend for a couple of years. All you do is work, provide and pass out in front of the tv because it's all you have the energy for.
It's inevitable. Enjoy friends and friendship while you're still below 30-35 because the second they start having kids, their friendship with you falls pretty fast and far down the list of priorities.

When I do play online with them, their online friends will invade our voice chat and dominate the discussion with talk about shit they play and I don't. playing "with" a friend but unable to discuss what's happening in-game because they're talking about last week's WoW drops. If I try to join their conversation I get asked to leave because I'm distracting them from what they are doing.

VR is so based it's unreal. I get off work in one minute, am going to put my quest on, hook up my golf attachment and play golf+ multiplayer battles for the next hour until my wife is off work so we can screw and then I'll cook the steak we got this weekend, eat that shit then do some thrill of the fight before my evening shower.
There's a full multiplayer mode where you join lobbies and can talk and a battle mode where you play 3 holes on a random course against ghost player data, meaning you never wait for a game, there's tons of data to pull from, a ranking system
I do the latter exclusively and absolutely love it. I'm terrible though both in real life and in the game. My mistakes in the game mostly mimic my real life mistakes
