Disney doesn’t care about Star Wars. Top gun they fricking AI kilmers mouth and voice to give us one last kino scene. Disney can’t even de age a pretty youthful looking Christian. Stop watching disneyshit.
It would make more sense if the scene was shot as more of a memory than a 1:1 flashback. But that would take imagination. Disney has the tech to de-age they just don’t give a frick.
Samuel Jackson in cap marvel was good. Luke was passable but he also a lot older. People are already posting their own fan de aged edits and it looks better. Disney doesn’t care and neither should the fans. It’s clear they don’t respect the older characters and want to push their new agenda characters first.
I thought it was done really well when they were showing Tarkins reflection only. More tasteful and in keeping with his more sinister behaviour. Then they panned over to him
Truth. The worst is when they put dead people's faces on living actors it just feels wrong. Is it really so bad to just cast someone to play that role instead of using a deepfake?
What makes you think they care? It's pretty obvious this is the last hunk of shit that wipes out all of the male characters with any power in the series, Obi-wan was the last big one.
Star Wars is for girls now, dummy. They don't want toxic males looking good. The Force is Female, you patriarchical shitlord.
>Disney can’t even de age a pretty youthful looking Christian.
Hayden Christensen's face would have to be done entirely in CG and then deepfaked, even without deepfake Fox did a great job with Logan, it is possible but at Disney there are no great professionals to do the job the right way, they are like that at comics and games too, they work with the worst professionals
Beliveable, except the one on the far left, she was closer to 30 than 18 during the show.
What makes them look older is the professional make up and hair and expensive outfits. You can take 8 kids from any senior class, put them in the gym, do their hair, get them stylists, and you get similar results.
>Boba goes from being a mercilessly efficient merc to a well-meaning fool wo wants to be a crime syndicate warlord despite refusing to either sell drugs or tax the population >Luke goes from being a brave warrior with ironclad conviction to save his loved ones to a pussy who tried to kill his ugly nephew because of flimsy reasons and abandons the people who needed him in order to cower in a shithole planet.
>mercilessly efficient merc
goofy wannabe badass wearing his dad's armor, who has a reputation of disintegrating targets when the job is to capture them*
People shit on Rian Johnson but JJ Abrams literally wrote Luke as being in self exile for decades, being hated by his nephew, not being in contact with Han or Leia, having had every member of his academy dead besides Kylo, being in the middle of nowhere while tens of billions died from the faction that his own pupil helped being to power
All of that is JJ Abrams if you paid attention to TFA
The only thing that Rian Johnson did to try and explain things is make it so that Luke basically got the kinda terrible visions that Anakin got in AotC and RotS that turned him to kill children, all the Jedi and, ironically, his wife he hoped to save.
But instead of fully succumbing to the horrible visions that had Luke see literal images of billions die and the people he loved being destroyed, Luke partially succumbed:
He acted on an urge to prevent it all by walking to Ben's tent, by igniting his lightsaber in a moment of weakness where he seriously contemplated murder like Anakin had
But then he resisted his urges by placing the lightsaber down but by then it was too late and his failure was already set in stone.
His self exile was a response to realizing how his actions directly contributed to one of the first steps of his vision and it was an attempt to prevent things from gerting worse through his actions.
His self sacrifice at the end was him escaping this mindset after being made to confront reality.
You could maybe convincingly argue that Rian Johnson should had done this better but the constant argument that he shouldn't had done it all ignores the place that JJ Abrams put the character in.
There's almost nowhere to go but failure and redemption given what Abrams wrote for Luke.
>People shit on Rian Johnson but JJ Abrams literally wrote Luke as being in self exile for decades, being hated by his nephew, not being in contact with Han or Leia, having had every member of his academy dead besides Kylo, being in the middle of nowhere while tens of billions died from the faction that his own pupil helped being to power >All of that is JJ Abrams if you paid attention to TFA
Yeah, but the next movie could have revealed that it was all for a reason, that Luke was actually doing something to stop Ben and Snoke. Communing with the Force and supercharging his abilities, maybe the planet was the location of some ancient Jedi temple and he was doing research, etc. and that he couldn't be around others to get it done. Rian was the one who decided that the reason Luke had been gone was that he was a loser who considered killing his nephew in his sleep.
This would be odd primarily because there isn't much room for him to be anything but the one who either did something to help lead to Ben's turn to the dark side or failed to do something to prevent it
Your alternative kinda gives him a free pass from that.
You don't have to stick with Rian's choices, but JJ did write Luke as being some way responsible for Kylo Ren.
Obi Wan and Yoda, Jedi in almost identical situations as JJ wrote for Luke, are written by Lucas as being in exile and withered, not supercharged demigods who become far stronger from drastic failure.
>You don't have to stick with Rian's choices, but JJ did write Luke as being some way responsible for Kylo Ren.
Not necessarily. I dunno, maybe Luke had something Ben/Snoke needed and he was trying to keep it safe and undetected. I realize there's only so much they can do with what JJ set up in Force Awakens, but there were other things to do aside from what Rian did. >Your alternative kinda gives him a free pass from that.
Not really, it just means Luke would've been DOING SOMETHING in response to Ben's turn to the Dark Side instead of "Oops, I fricked up, I better let the entire rest of the universe clean up my mess."
This would be odd primarily because there isn't much room for him to be anything but the one who either did something to help lead to Ben's turn to the dark side or failed to do something to prevent it

Guys, please, there is enough hate for both JJ and RJ. We don't have to pick and choose.
>Betterment and growth
Luke: Well, I fricked up. Better go hide, abandon my life’s work, let my trade completely die, and leave the people depending on me.
Boba: Killing people is cool, but have you ever tried letting dehydration destroy your brain and then leading a crime syndicate as a brain damaged geriatric?
Galactic Contention Mod for Squad is probably the closest thing we'll get to any sort of soulful star wars video game in a while. How do fans get it right but tv producers and game devs get it so wrong?
I don't understand what the frick they were thinking not de-aging him. Like you can make a convincing young Luke but not Anakin with the literal original actor? Like they have access to the mcu de-aging tech, why not use it??? Dude looked older thank Obiwan.
Disney doesn’t care about Star Wars. Top gun they fricking AI kilmers mouth and voice to give us one last kino scene. Disney can’t even de age a pretty youthful looking Christian. Stop watching disneyshit.
bro that IS the de-aged version. look up recent pics of hayden, he's not bad looking but he didn't keep the youthful look, his face really filled out.
Motherfricker they can make Michael Douglas and Kurt Russell who are in their 70s look like young men and completely face transplanet mark hammil onto another man. Hayden is not the problem here.
Why the hell did Disney buy Industrial Light and Magic if they never use it
i'd be ok if disney just stopped giving a frick and had some surreal fun, have some flashbacks to 10 year old anakin on tatooine with the actor today. >yippeee
Honestly, of all the horrible things they've done to destroy Star Wars, I can handle a bit of "just pretend with us" age shenanigans. When a show means well (which this one doesn't, but I mean the general principle) I can handle a returning actor looking a bit older.
Of all the things to criticize this is the least of them. I love Christiansen’s performance as Anakin in the prequels. It’s a fond memory of my childhood and I think the performance has a lot of nuance to it. I was happy to see him again and hope to see more, de aged or not.
That's a 19 year old after putting up with Jedi nonsense.
>That's a 19 year old after putting up with Jedi nonsense
Imagine being a Jedi padawan since childhood and turing 13 and suddenly realising you'd never be allowed to frick any girl ever.
Surely there must have been mass Jedi revolts and Sith uprisings all the fricking time once these tween c**ts got horny.
Did they not have enough budget for a clean shave for that lip stumble?
>Here's that padawan I was telling you about
Star Wars is so low budget now it's funny. I won't watch.
They had to buy Ewan's wig, they couldn't afford to de-age
Disney doesn’t care about Star Wars. Top gun they fricking AI kilmers mouth and voice to give us one last kino scene. Disney can’t even de age a pretty youthful looking Christian. Stop watching disneyshit.
Jesus Christ, does everything have to be a disgusting display of CGI grossness? People age, get over it. Suspend your goddamn disbelief.
It would make more sense if the scene was shot as more of a memory than a 1:1 flashback. But that would take imagination. Disney has the tech to de-age they just don’t give a frick.
De-aging tech always looks bad. I'd rather just see actors in wigs and makeup.
It can be done well, especially when all they needed to focus on is around his mouth. You can do both, the did neither.
holy shit are you actually a disney shill?
Samuel Jackson in cap marvel was good. Luke was passable but he also a lot older. People are already posting their own fan de aged edits and it looks better. Disney doesn’t care and neither should the fans. It’s clear they don’t respect the older characters and want to push their new agenda characters first.
>People are already posting their own fan de aged edits and it looks better
Some Youtube rando does it better than Disney. Geezus. Lucas' insane laziness continues to drip into Star Wars.
This. Nobody wants to see CGI Tarkin or Botched Leia again.
I thought it was done really well when they were showing Tarkins reflection only. More tasteful and in keeping with his more sinister behaviour. Then they panned over to him
>CGI Tarkin
he looked fine, moron
Then how come any hobo in their mom's basement can de age the actors on their Apple II E and have it look convincing and professional, shill-kun?
ILM is booked solid de-aging Harrison Ford for the next Indy film. They'll be done in 3 years.
Truth. The worst is when they put dead people's faces on living actors it just feels wrong. Is it really so bad to just cast someone to play that role instead of using a deepfake?
de-aging technology only looks okay if done subtly and sparingly. idk if scorcesse is going blind, senile or both, but picrel looks fricking moronic
It doesnt look TOO bad and is better than the alternative of just not doing anything
The CGI'd blue eyes were worse than the deaging to be honest.
have a nice day, redditor
They had no qualms resurrecting two corpses for their movies, and here's where they draw the line?
Don't try to reason with prequel babies. They LOVE cgi.
>a pretty youthful looking Christian
lol
lmao even
Who's this Christian you talk about
His name isn't christian you moron. This is how stupid prequel apologists are.
>Disney doesn’t care about Star Wars
They are lost
someone has to get them back on track
>This is a 19 year old
>Disney can’t even de age a pretty youthful looking Christian.

A master job, Disney, Warner should hire these guys and have their own VFX studio
This is what being blue-balled by Padme does to a homie.
How do you do, fellow younglings?
That's the youngest looking 19 year old in American media. They typically caat early 30s for high school roles.
He's older than 30 and clearly looks it.
he's 41 lol
These were 18 year olds
The israeliteess on the left was already 31 lmao
Beliveable, except the one on the far left, she was closer to 30 than 18 during the show.
What makes them look older is the professional make up and hair and expensive outfits. You can take 8 kids from any senior class, put them in the gym, do their hair, get them stylists, and you get similar results.
You gaygitz would shit on it if they de-aged him too. There's no winning here.
Yes, you moron, that's the point. This shit would be terrible no matter what.
You're a fricking idiot.
>me my mommy and my daddy
Frick, beat me to it
I’m 23 and people mistake me for 16 and when I wear a thick coat people mistake me for 12.
I'm 33 and people mistake me for 19. Get on my level. Literally it's my only way to get zoomer girls.
No this is pre AOTC so he's closer to 17
No he has his robot hand.
>My mommy and my daddy
He looked older than McGregor. They couldn't even use makeup or clean it up digitally. Just weird why they'd be so lazy like that.
>He looked older than McGregor
Agreed. Hayden just looks like shit nowadays.
>He looked older than McGregor.
I was thinking the same thing. Disney is so fricking lazy
>$25 million dollar per episode
Some youtube nerds do it better for free.
How can they be so god damn inept? Is Kathleen Kennedy purposely fricking with Star Wars any chance she gets?
>disney can't even be assed to hire some fricking jannies
Why do they insist on using the original actor/appearance? It's just a role.
Kek even with all that touch up he still looks so old and bad
>all the touch up
What touch up
They did not even try
Growth according to logical people for Luke: He is the grand master of the new Jedi academy and maturely handles his troubled nephew.
Growth according to Disney and troons: Luke is emotionally unhinged and tries to murder his nephew.
You live with your parents. What do you know about maturity lmao
You'll regret abandoning your parents to old age one day. Multi-generational households are where it's at, pleb.
lmao virgin
Oh frick please forgive me sirs
Kek no wonder you homosexuals hate them then. They're you.
Suffering from BPD isn’t growth or maturity. Although many leftoids and troonys that write these new Star Wars stories might think it does.
>Boba goes from being a mercilessly efficient merc to a well-meaning fool wo wants to be a crime syndicate warlord despite refusing to either sell drugs or tax the population
>Luke goes from being a brave warrior with ironclad conviction to save his loved ones to a pussy who tried to kill his ugly nephew because of flimsy reasons and abandons the people who needed him in order to cower in a shithole planet.
This is why you hate them. You haven't progressed either and have regressed. You still live with your parents.
??? What? Wasn't the claim that they DID mature while the natzee SW fans didn't, are you high baito-chan??
I'm not the one who posted the image. It's clear why you hate them and it's because of your own failure to mature.
I'm pretty sure everybody hates regressive morons who frick everything up, anon. Which is what Boba and Luke became under Disney.
I think you're talking to a bot, but idk.
>mercilessly efficient merc

here

Lowering it down
There is a physical, visible tell that Luke never would had killed Ben
>People shit on Rian Johnson but JJ Abrams literally wrote Luke as being in self exile for decades, being hated by his nephew, not being in contact with Han or Leia, having had every member of his academy dead besides Kylo, being in the middle of nowhere while tens of billions died from the faction that his own pupil helped being to power

This must be from the NON CANON EU books because Boba did absolutely jack shit in the movies

Boba: Killing people is cool, but have you ever tried letting dehydration destroy your brain and then leading a crime syndicate as a brain damaged geriatric?
Luke somehow lost character development though. That's why people were angry.
Liberal logic: it's ok to be a cuck and not stick by your morals and ethics
Oh hey Obi Wan, I'm ready for my youngling training.
I would unironically frick the shit out of this midget. I don't care if he is a zogoblin.
Galactic Contention Mod for Squad is probably the closest thing we'll get to any sort of soulful star wars video game in a while. How do fans get it right but tv producers and game devs get it so wrong?
Fans are white men or the cream or the crop in passion, corporations hire women and low passion low competence nonwhites
Op mad because he looked like shit at 19

Looks more like a 10yo than Hayden looks 18
>I'll try drugs, that's a good trick
I looked like I was 40 when I was 19
Just remember Cinemaphile YOU wanted your precious Hayden back.
is not his fault that disney are a bunch of hacks
>background is just a still image
I looked like this at 19
I think it my was because of sleep disorder and smoking
For some reason this reminds me of Ray Liotta
this show looks like it has 10% of the budget of the mandlorian
Honestly, of all the horrible things they've done to destroy Star Wars, I can handle a bit of "just pretend with us" age shenanigans. When a show means well (which this one doesn't, but I mean the general principle) I can handle a returning actor looking a bit older.
Which Luke memory is the correct one? His or Kylos?
The Force's. That's why he becomes a ghost at the end; he accepts that he's not in control of reality or fate.
It's supposed to be a mixture of both.
Yeah that was confusing. I thought it was a dream sequence at first.
will Hayden discover the secret?
"Hello fellow teen jedi! What is the happening?"
Of all the things to criticize this is the least of them. I love Christiansen’s performance as Anakin in the prequels. It’s a fond memory of my childhood and I think the performance has a lot of nuance to it. I was happy to see him again and hope to see more, de aged or not.
