It's a pain in the ass but can just copy the image, open in Paint or some other image editor, and save it as a .jpg

1) It's more hassle when ideally basic actions and computer interactions should be as streamlined as possible
2) The bigger issue is that websites reencode pre-existing jpegs into webp and avif, and a lossy reencode from a lossy source is never a good idea. Like, I understand that we're talking about a random pic to illustrate a point, but there's enough rare and low-res images out there which, for archival purposes, should not be resaved / reencoded. There's a whole bunch of fandom/wikia projects that hosted rare imagery that traces back to the early 00s or so, for example originally released image files of artwork for old games and other such stuff, but then Fandom decided to convert everything to webp, resulting in quality loss. (there's a whole frickton of other problems with hosting stuff on Fandom/Wikia, but that's a tangent)
