This is a masterpiece and will change cinema as we know it. you. will. cry.
This movie will inspire a generation of filmakers! My wife's son is totally obssessed. no cap.
Dennis is the new Spielberg, and here's why: There's 13 missing details you probably missed, so watched it through the end.
I've just witnessed it and I'm appaled, speechless, awe struck and most of all...hopeful. Thank you Disney for providing me with such a experience
Please, please go watch it this thuesday march 5 in your local cinema. this is a cinematic experience I haven't witnessed since the 80's. This movie was done with practical effects and has a filmaker stamp of approval, it's about family and that's what's so special about it. if you have seen it, *brofist* see it again..and again and again! Prepare to cry!

    >Dune (2021)
Awe-inspiring, euphoric, truly beautiful film with subtly drawn characters, emotionally rich plot, and action that was in turn epic, thrilling, suspenseful, and tragic, all in service of the story. An absolute masterpiece of modern cinema.
    >Dune: Part Two
A baffling disappointment. Complex, engaging, inspiring characters reduced to one-note caricatures, padding out a plot that is little more than one lifeless action scene after another. Not an unwatchable disaster, but a major disappointment nonetheless.

It was a modern 15/10, quite possibly the best film released in years. Overall? A 8 or 9 out of ten. Pacing was an issue once Paul has to go to the South and drink the water of life (goes haywire), the dialogue mixing was bad (needed subtitles), and Walken was wasted as Shaddam IV. I didn't like both Chani and Paul not believing he was the Messiah, and they should've kept the validity of the prophecy ambiguous instead of really driving home it was a bene gesserit fabrication because keeping a little mystery in there would've enhanced the experience. Other than that, it was fricking great.

9/10. My only complaint was that the final battle was woefully too short. Should have had an additional 20mins of straight up CG action with Worms eating Sardaukar and other crazy shit. The movie was already 2 hours and 40 mins, why not just make it 3 hours? Eitherway it was amazing to see the adaptation on the big screen. All that remains for me is the Forever War.

A ponderous, thoughtful, dialogue driven commentary on Christian mythology, human theology, the pitfalls of perceived infallibility amongst leaders, caste systems, environmentalism, nepotism, hero worship, divine right of kings, and the extent to which man can destroy himself in the pursuit of immortality

I think the 3rd part will be a make or break whether this becomes a next gen LOTR. Again I haven’t read the books so I don’t know what happens in Messiah. All my knowledge is from the some wiki articles and what other anons say. From what I can tell it’s not worth adapting past a 3rd part as everything past that is just gibberish. I assume the 3rd part showcases the holy war, which is a good opportunity for some additional neat worldbuilding. I wouldn’t mind at all Villeneuve diverging from the books to tell a complete trilogy. I prefer everything wrap up with Paul. Instead of deferring “the golden path” to his son, just do the war, the 60 billion deaths, humanity coming out better for it, and Arrakis becoming a paradise with sis all grown up as the epilogue. Paul can still have his kino blind desert death after he completes the mission.

This might be a controversial opinion but, in this context, I think telling a good movie is more important than being faithful to the book. And from what I heard this movie isn’t faithful to the book anyway so there’s no putting toothpaste back in the tube.

goddamn if it isn't the best film I've seen in years. Modern cinema is largely trash and Villeneuve is one of the few filmmakers alive actually capable of producing an epic film in the vein of david lean. Compared to actual capeshit garbage it's a breath of fresh air. You contrarian morons need to hang yourselves pronto

THIS CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE REDEFINES THE VERY FABRIC OF MOVIES, A MIRROR TO THE SECOND COMING OF GOD. IT'S AN EXPERIENCE BEYOND THE ORDINARY. NO FILM HEREAFTER WILL TREAD THE SAME PATH AFTER THIS GROUNDBREAKING UNVEILING. CAN IT EVEN BE LABELLED AS A MOVIE? IT SEEMS LIKE A DIVINE INTERVENTION UNFOLDING ON SCREEN. THE IMPACT OF THIS MOVIE ON SOCIETY DEFIES HUMAN COMPREHENSION. I FEAR FOR THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY; HOPE DWINDLES. PERHAPS THIS MOVIE SHOULD NEVER HAVE GRACED OUR CINEMATIC LANDSCAPE.

Would the movie really benefit from a sequence showing Doctor Yueh letting Harkonnen saboteurs into the palace, who would then proceed to disable further defense systems and kill the lookout guards outside? Would it really make for a better movie in your opinion? Would that have been interesting to see? Would it improve the pacing?

It's a movie, sometimes shit happens off-screen in service of the quality of the overall spectacle. The director assumes you're a big boy and can fill in some of the obvious information yourself. you don't need to see every step of the Barons plan on screen, just like you don't have to see he had a shit morning before the invasion

this is the best movie ever made
I don’t get why the houses would reject Paul’s ascension if house Atreides was already heavily favored. Not to mention Paul defeated house Harkanan which I assume is the village butthole that nobody likes. It was mentioned earlier in the movie that if the other houses found out what the emperor did to Atreides his position would be in trouble, and it never came up again. If Paul could send a letter to the emperor why not tell the other houses what happened? Who were going to inevitably find out anyway

THIS MOVIE MARKS A PINNACLE IN CINEMA HISTORY, IT IS THE CLOSEST THING TO THE SECOND COMING OF GOD. IT IS SOMETHING TO WITNESS. NO MOVIE FUTHER FROM THIS POINT ON WILL BE SEEN AS THE SAME AFTER THIS MOVIE COME OUT LIKE IT DID
CAN THIS EVEN BE CONSIDERED A MOVIE? I THINK IT'S SOMETHING BIBLICAL HAPPENING
IT IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPREHEND HOW POWERFUL THIS MOVIE IS AND IT'S EFFECTS ON SOCIETY
I AM SCARED FOR THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY, MOVING FOWARD I DON'T SEE MUCH HOPE

It was a contemporary masterpiece, easily one of the most captivating films in recent memory. Overall? An 8 or 9 out of ten. The pacing stumbled when Paul journeyed to the South and encountered the water of life (went haywire). Dialogue mixing proved problematic (subtitles were a necessity), and Walken's portrayal of Shaddam IV felt underutilized. I found it disappointing that both Chani and Paul doubted his Messiah status; maintaining the prophecy's ambiguity could have deepened the experience. Nonetheless, it was undeniably impressive.

Describing it as a modern gem, it's certainly among the top releases of recent years. Overall? A solid 35 out of 10. However, the pacing suffered when Paul ventured to the South and encountered the water of life (went haywire). Dialogue mixing was subpar (subtitles were needed), and Walken's portrayal of Shaddam IV felt like a missed opportunity. The skepticism from both Chani and Paul regarding his Messiah status was disappointing; maintaining ambiguity around the prophecy's validity could have added depth. Yet, despite these criticisms, it was undoubtedly remarkable.

THIS ISN'T JUST A MOVIE; IT'S A CINEMATIC REVOLUTION, A GATEWAY TO DIVINE REALMS. IT TRANSCENDS THE BOUNDARIES OF ORDINARY CINEMA. FUTURE FILMS WILL STRUGGLE TO MATCH ITS INNOVATION. CAN IT EVEN BE CALLED A MOVIE? IT FEELS LIKE A SACRED JOURNEY UNFOLDING BEFORE OUR EYES. ITS IMPACT ON SOCIETY DEFIES COMPREHENSION. I TREMBLE FOR HUMANITY'S FUTURE; HOPE SEEMS DIM. So much shilling for this but I watched the trailer and it's drab and pompous YA garbage with ugly mutts and gay twinks and everything looks grey and beige without contrast and monotonous production design like a shitty Netflix digital slop. Atrocious. Cinéma is dead if this is considered an industry savior.

Cinemaphile expects (or is just moronic) a big Hollywood film to be an arthouse drama about the life of a manlet virgin. This movie kicks ass and if you don't like it and can't properly articulate why then yes you're moronic.

You said the same thing to me when I praised part I. As bad as part II is, this kind of criticism hardly applied. It amazes me how invariably pathetic and wheedling the responses from Sneeds like you are to great cinematic, human art. You shrivel and snicker and thrash about — what the Bene Geserit might call an animal kind of trick. Anyway, Dune 1 >>>>>>>>>> Dune 2.

Movie was hot garbage. Wow a bunch of CGI scenes with worms!!! Dune requires good acting and very good dialog heavy script. Dennis gave us neither of these.
