That barely qualifies as a film. It's the Return of Jafar of DW Films.
Side-track, but would you consider that the worst DisneyToon movie? They're all kind of equally underwhelming for me. Even the ones people say are "the good ones". (Goofy Movie and its sequel obviously doesn't apply here.)
The worst disneytoons are usually the ones that are nothing more than scraped shows that were made as "sequels" at the very-last minute.
You know, I've never thought of this before. For how many of the movies like you're describing they made (Atlantis 2, Cinderella 2, at least one of the Beauty and the Beast sequels) did DisneyToon ever get even ONE tv show made? Maybe I'm overthinking it, and the same people animated the Disney spinoff shows, and the different studio names refer to leadership.

I've actually kept up with this series since the books, and I remember being extremely hyped to hear that a legitimate movie was announced.
I'm a lot more pissed that we weren't given a sequel as promised.

It has, actually. Dogman was quite literally foreshadowed in the last few Captain Underpants books.
I remember reading the final books and got the first dogman, tho that was the age range where I grew out of the franchise.

Dogman is close-enough, I suppose.
It's too bad a Captain Underpants movie couldn't catch a bigger turnout from audiences, but I just find solace in the fact we got a movie this faithful to begin with. One movie is better than none at all.
It also had a surprising amount of 2D animation, which is something to admire.
