Kino, I remember showing their first EP to all my friends just to see their reactions
Hadn't kept up with them but it looks like they've got 2 full-lengths now, nice
according to varg it's just mainly based on the book which is apparently not very accurate and he and the others were never even consulted for the movie
he also denied permission to use his music or something, meanwhile he gives it even to random Black person rappers who sampled burzum, i think maybe kanye west i dont know any rappers. so there is none of his music in the movie, i dont think any of their music is in it which is funny.
they definitely casted the israelite kid as him to spite him
>meanwhile he gives it even to random Black person rappers who sampled burzum
pretty obvious it's because he owns nothing from mayhem and owns everything from burzum
such a b***h-tier way of looking at things
the movie is a terrible teen drama about shit people quit caring about since 20 years and isn't accurate to what actually happened, it doesn't BTFO varg or anything, its basically a movie on the level of Boss Baby with its pointlessness
other people involved dont like or care about the movie either, varg is a psycho who used to make jokes about his murder on youtube, why do you think this movie epically btfo's him?
Anti-varg people are nuts lol. No one actually likes him, we ironically do becuase he’s dumb and crazy. Take a chill pill and just laugh at him without hating him like some angry leftoid Incel
I read the book this year and found it enjoyable. I don't understand why people say it's wrong or badly inaccurate when the book is filled with interviews straight from the protagonists of the black metal scene.
Because its thesis connecting black metal psychically to unconnected acts of senseless violence like the Lords of Chaos gang (where it got the title from) is just fricking dumb?
I don't recall the book making a big argument in favor of that, in fact the Lords of chaos gang attacks is just a minuscule part of the book. I guess that was thrown in because they happened right after the events in Norway and had similarities to them.
What are some good newer DS artists who don't do meme microgenres or Runescape-core?
I try to keep up with the stuff Dungeon Synth Archives puts out but always would rather be listening to Depressive Silence or Jim Kirkwood
It was fairly well made. It gets bonus points for pissing off this manchild who's pretty much single-handedly responsible for the worst metal genre ever (""raw BM"")
Fun fact: the director was one of the original members of Bathory.
varg is unironically a songwriting genius like kurt cobain, all he needs is a 300 euro guitar and starter pack amp or a 5 key synth in prison to make bangers
>all he needs is a 300 euro guitar and starter pack amp or a 5 key synth in prison to make complete garbage that sounds like it was made by an actual moron and recorded inside a toilet

he had such a massive influence on metal without ever really practicing music, just picked up some shit and started playing without any dogma or restrictions and made pure soul
such a fricking sóy take, i bet you think some reddit rap like kendrick lamar is the peak of art, if you know anything about the sphere of rock/metal and guitar you have to give him credit for his songwriting and influence, black metal probably wouldnt exist without him
his skill of creating music exceeds so far beyond his technical ability

>black metal probably wouldnt exist without him
Talk about knowing nothing about the sphere of rock/metal.
Bathory and Venom are the original progenitors. All BM spawns from these bands. They influenced everyone from the Norwegian gays to the war metal bands in Brazil and Canada (e.g. Blasphemy, Sarcogayo, etc).
Varg influenced a bunch or feminine, mopey, vitamin deficient homosexuals who just screech and wail over power chords because daddy didn't love them.

burzum doesn't use powerchords at all moron
varg pioneered the whole tremolo picking thing and harsh vocals, no solos, focus on atmosphere and walls of sound and the songwriting philosophy in general, multi-instrumentalism, ambient.. 1st wave black metal is more akin to trash or even death metal
theres no need to cope, just accept daddy varg the chud actually had a massive artistic influence.

>burzum doesn't use powerchords at all moron
Did I say Varg used power chords? Read it again. But yes, the tremolo picking is also commonly used (and just as easy).
>1st wave black metal is more akin to trash or even death metal
Agreed. But it doesn't change the incontrovertible fact that all of those 2nd wavers were heavily influenced by them. Varg just didn't have any talent, so he ended up sounding like a down syndrome version of them.
>accept daddy varg
I know you view him as a father figure, but please don't project that onto me.

you dont know shit about playing music, even if he used solely powerchords it would be an achievement, thats why i compared him to cobain, who also couldnt play guitar for shit, yet made extremely recognizable and successful guitar music, varg was influenced by completely random stuff and wasn't as much of a metal elitist gay like euronymous for example, he wasn't trying to specifically trying to sound like anything but his own ideas, which is what makes him a good songwriter, you also seem oblivious to the fact that the trash production of all this was part of that whole scene

Not if it sounds like shit, poncho
>thats why i compared him to cobain, who also couldnt play guitar for shit, yet made extremely recognizable and successful guitar music
I'm not the big Nirvana fan, but Cobain was a relatively sophisticated lyricist, songwriter, and skilled vocalist.
>you also seem oblivious to the fact that the trash production of all this was part of that whole scene
I'm well aware. I think the conceptual aspect is mostly just an excuse for their lack of skill. >but it's supposed to sound like shit

just the same seething onions take >i dont like it therefore its not good
millions of people disagree and you clearly dont understand shit about guitar
cobain's guitar technique was atrocious but his playing and writing made it sound good, you also dont realize every other band did the moronic cassette in another room tier production, mayhem also sounds like ass but euronymous could actually play a guitar solo unlike varg.

>i dont like it therefore its not good
I didn't say anything about good or bad. I just said it sounds like shit made by a moronic person.
But yes, yes, obviously it's all subjective.
>you also dont realize every other band did the moronic cassette in another room tier production
You mean, every other "raw BM" band? If that's the case, I do realize it - it's an intrinsic aspect of the genre.
I think the main reasons they embraced the rawness was because a) they had limited funds, and b) good production would have shed more light on their lack of skill - it would have been like dressing up a turd.

I didn't say otherwise
every single bm band of the time was like burzum's type of production, im convinced you're a 16 year old Cinemaphiletard who skimmed through filosofem once and thinks thats what burzum is and never listened to any other black metal even from that period
>every single bm band of the time was like burzum's type of production
In Norway? Yeah. In Canada and Brazil? No.
>im convinced you're a 16 year old Cinemaphiletard who skimmed through filosofem once and thinks thats what burzum is and never listened to any other black metal even from that period
That's rich, coming from someone who seems to think BM = raw BM in the vein of the Norwegian 2nd wavers.

He uses that claim to larp as an authority when people criticize the movie. He was a session musician in Bathory and didn't perform on a single album of theirs.

I just saw it
It's a decent moody flick with some kino scenes. But it's so inaccurate that it's difficult to take seriously. It embellishes the frick out of events that only happened a few decades ago for the sake of making Varg look like an even bigger butthole and making Euronymous seem like he was 5 minutes away from "growing out" of the black metal scene. It's just weirdly disrepectful and dismissive. Watching interviews with the cast and crew gives the impression that none of them appreciate or even care about black metal.
If you want a good documentary about the early black metal scene made by someone who actually knows what he's talking about, watch this:
>He was a session musician in Bathory and didn't perform on a single album of theirs
It's a strange band history. It was only a proper band up until the albums, at which point it was only Quorthon.
The movie was fun and black metal pussy will make a homie act strange, just don't worry about it being LE INACCURATE ZOMG BROWN israelite PLAYING VARG!!!! and you will have a good time
yeah but that really isn't a documentary for people with no knowledge of the scene and what happened (church burnings, varg, faust, etc.) it's only good if you know a bit about it and can appreciate the interviews
ok varg
kek he hates this movie
and yeah OP its a great movie, got me into death metal
>movie about Black Metal
>got me into death metal
The frick?
yeah, we saw it was like "damn this music sucks but I wonder if there's music that's kind of like this that doesn't suck"
If that's the case, it's called Slam Metal, the ultimate metal genre.
BREEEEEEE EEEEEE REEEEEEE EEEEEEEE

yeah, saw it a couple years later, enjoyed it a lot as well, newer new culcin had a borther
Same
Wait is this the story of that /misc/ varg?
>Wait is this the story of that /misc/ varg?
partially, he's involved in it but not the mc
Is that Putin?
>and yeah OP its a great movie, got me into death metal
its trash if you actually know the story (and varg)
Everyone involved in the early BM scene thinks its shit.

>b***h homie by Tha Impaila (2015)
holy kino
I would have done the same. I'd rather Black person sample my music than have leftist homosexuals sample my film
*meant to say sample my music in their hitpiece slander film against me
the fact this movie triggers this idiot and his sycophants so much redeems it entirely.
such a b***h-tier way of looking at things

Heh.
How is Sky Ferreira?
*never wear corpse paint*
*Mogs your favorite bm band*
>wears a gimp outfit on their 2nd album
What were they thinking???
it's fricking hilarious and probably more inaccurate than the book but i like it
the scene where varg kills euronymous is borderline comedy
I am STILL listening to black metal
same
anything new this year? I like Daeva a lot. black thrash, very tasty
nah i've been lazy and just sticking with the classics
black metal is the last white genre left
It was invented by Brazilians
Thall is
Nah we have a new wave of dungeon synth now

>>only functional human beings in the scene
whos gonna tell him
AAAAAAA AAAACK
AAAAAAAAAAAACK
those guys are based as frick
agreed. for me, it's Sons of Northern Darkness
that's darkthrone/fenriz
as he's the only one who is still making good music anyone else just doing it still is shit
Kinda ironic the guy playing varg looks more like euronymous.
Black metal is the most overrated metal subgenre.
eh, it was somewhat ok, "Until the light take us" is much better
>casting an obese israelite to play varg
not a fan of varg's Whiter-than-thou bullshit, but they really did him dirty with that
it's funny because varg is portrayed more as a chad than a loser in the movie, he's the one getting all the girls and the press
Euronymous stole Sarcogayo's aesthetic and took credit for it. For that he deserved to die.
KISS did it first btw
Arthur Brown did it first
War Metal Chad vs. Virgin Raw BMcels
War metal is just Black Metal mixed with Death Metal, another name for it is Bestial Black Metal
I know, it's why I specified "raw" BM.
War/Bestial BM is best BM.
These homosexuals used to get beat up in Minas Gerais, same raseon Sepultura stopped using corpse painting, they were called homosexuals lmao
The movie was fun and black metal pussy will make a homie act strange, just don't worry about it being LE INACCURATE ZOMG BROWN israelite PLAYING VARG!!!! and you will have a good time
Until the Light Takes Us is far superior
yeah but that really isn't a documentary for people with no knowledge of the scene and what happened (church burnings, varg, faust, etc.) it's only good if you know a bit about it and can appreciate the interviews
it comes off as a petty hate piece towards varg and completely misrepresents euronmyous and the scene at the time
it's funny though
It's alrigh. Def didnt need to make up a bunch of shit that didnt happen, the true story itself is interesting enough
