No it isnt
maybe you're not ready, but this movie is going to be the foundation of cinema in the years to come, mark my words
I particularly enjoyed the scene where she's tied in a sort of vertical spread eagle position to the bed posts with a ball gag in her mouth as the man humps her leg like a dog.
Yeah, agreed
You haven't seen it.
it's pretty crazy that it got made, and it's interesting how they got away with the premise by couching it in that frankenstein aesthetic early on. killing of a sacred deer is a much better film though. most of yorgos' work is kino because it's pure sublimated autism that forces the audience to be wholesale uncomfortable witnessing a familiar environment where no one functions as expected, vs. leveraging one character's turboautism against a series of strawmen that represent a repressive society. it's the first time i could say that a yorgos movie feels weird for the sake of being weird, instead of making a point that couldn't be made otherwise through his lens.
>it's pretty crazy that it got made
Lmao no it isn't. Its literally the most bog standard
>women are oppressed by society, men are perverts and/or abusers, pussy is power
Barbie tier libslop that Hollywood pumps out dozens of times a year. The only difference is the director is a fatass european coomer so his movies are as unsubtle and gross as possible
Imagine being too stupid to see a funny comedy movie lmfaoo
What does it being a shitty comedy have to do with anything? Barbie was a shitty comedy too. They both try and fail to use humor to highlight what they claim is absurd about society. Its babbys first social gender critique except with lots of breasts and fricking bcuz yurop
you haven't understand it entirely, this is not just a "feminist " movie, this is a depiction of a human life, that happens to be a woman in a world there there's a patriarchy, the movie also does this, it literally builds an entire world around a character. this kind of hasn't been done before, maybe since Barry Lyndon
>this kind of hasn't been done before, maybe since Barry Lyndon
The world building was about as impressive as Wonka
>its like a fairly tale- with fricking!
HACK
>this is a depiction of a human life, that happens to be a woman in a world there there's a patriarchy
Okay hole.
yes that's why i said earlier in the thread that the movie was not yorgos' best. it has nothing interesting to say, it's only notable for how weird / edgy it's willing to be to accomplish its moronic politics. but the premise of a baby's brain being put into a woman's body that ultimately becomes a prostitute is a hard sell to produce no matter how you cut it.
The movie isn't trying to prove anything politically or make any political point. You didn't see it.
yeah that's why emma stone's character is constantly put in sexual positions where she questions why that society has puritanical reactions to something she sees as normal. there's certainly no repeated commentary being made, especially when she finds out that poor babies dead bodies are being piled into a firepit in a slum. there's certainly not an entire section discussing the philosophies of cynicism and existing within a system that seems intent on beating down its subjects. no political points to be read whatsoever. but yeah, i didn't see the movie either lol.
Exactly you didn't
how about the black prostitute who eats her out to prove a point about how men treat women vs how women treat women, and this is the launching pad to introduce her character to socialism, in which they literally defend and advocate for it. certainly not political. have a nice day.
Is just showing how dumb college kids are and how they get Brainwashed into leftism
>the black prostitute who eats her out
It's not shown as an incomparably better experience. It's just shown as another experience. But Bella clearly enjoys dicks.
her sexual orientation and how much she enjoys one thing vs. another is irrelevant. her character wouldn’t give a shit to begin because she is functionally an alien w no concept of the social norms that are ingrained in us regardless of how we feel about them. the conversation was mainly about the movie not having political themes, which is an insane claim to make.
So, I'm not the anon who tried to argue the movie was not political. But it's only political in as much as everything is.
The first time socialism is mentioned in the movie, it's to dismiss it as just another illusory form of idealism. The movie doesn't show what "socialism" means, or that it has a positive impact on anything (*that* would make it more directly and bluntly political).
Is the director israeli btw?
No.
>'kino' about women
>has to be sex-themed
why?
because all humans have sex drive and this is important to human development. that's why some people here think is shameful being a virgin or why some kids are popular because they get so much pussy. sex is important to everyone in a society
regardless of how you personally feel about women, they are historically subjugated and really only valued in the world in terms of their appeal sexually. i wonder why all of the media focused on their experiences would deal with this.
People irl have sex unlike you.
Only valuable part of a woman is her sex.
Because when people lack any level of creativity, all they are reduced to is the value of a sex inclined animal.
It will be a timeless classic. It will be talked about 100 years from now when everything else has been forgotten. It's the 2000's best fairytale.
People said the same about the Favourite, a film that is completely forgotten, just like this will be. Baby zoomie's first art film.
I'm 37 years old.
pointless nude scenes - the movie
Please be sincere
Softcore porno and pro pedophilia garbage.
Stop larping lmaonaise
Frick off pedo
Please be sincere
Frick off and have a nice day pedo
i was going to merely call you media illiterate but you're probably divorced enough from reality that you may as well be entirely illiterate.
Frick off pedophile.
Not that anon, but the movie denounces pedophiliac tendencies in "alpha" men.
Unfortunately the plot revolves around a woman with a child's brain getting railed. Its simply a foul premise and an indictment of its fat pig creep director regardless of any statements or self admissions he makes in the movie
>Unfortunately the plot revolves around a woman with a child's brain getting railed.
So it's prime Cinemaphile kino, got you
>the plot revolves around a woman with a child's brain getting railed
It's the plot, but it's not how it's played.
She doesn't behave like a child in a woman's body, she behaves like an autistic moron who progressively stops being moronic (but stays autistic).
In her behaviour she's very reminiscent of the character of Adam, in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
It's still uncomfortable that her tardiness makes her an easy sexual prey for some of the characters, but that's part of the point.
She's actually not an easy prey at all, even though some characters like Duncan assume she would be. Her autism and fearlessness make her almost impossible to intimidate, which in turn means nobody can really control her. As we see, Godwin was completely right when he let her run away with Duncan, figuring that she can take care of herself. She really can.
>the plot revolves around a woman with a child's brain getting railed
So... a normal woman?
>woman with a child's brain getting railed
That's you, except for the last part
In addition, you will also never be a woman.
>a foul premise
woman is the Black person of the world and you can't fix stupid
>media illiterate
Holy reddit. This garbage really does attract the worst type of person
more like moronophilia tbqh
>same image
>same lowercase posts
Shill
Take your meds
what do her boobies look like?
smol
if theres so much sex as Cinemaphile says, why aren't there more webm around here?
Because there isn't that much sex. They are larping. How stupid do you need to be to not realize they are being insincere.
please do not insult me. I get very nervous
I don’t get this either, is it not out on streaming yet or what
>shills are phoneposters
Shocker.
what a pretty moron
that was so fun, I was the only one in the cinema that laughed tho
not many people laughed in my cinema either. i think they were scared it wasnt supposed to be funny.
my cinema was very lively but it was mostly black people
No one else got the cheesed to meet you line either. I've never felt so alone...
>ITS BRIGHT AND LOUD AND COLORFUL THEREFORE ITS GOOD
They should make a movie where Peter Pan hotglues Tinkerbell, the pseuds would lap it up as a groundbreaking deconstruction of lost innocence or some shit
despite not appreciating the political message of the movie, i think it was a good movie and i enjoyed it. You bunch of closet homosexual should learn how to appreciate a movie without being a little b***h about its politics. I mean there is a difference between a shitty movie with shitty message and a well made movie with a shitty message.
If anything, there is a dimension of its conceptions paling to this ambition: it verbalizes expropriation while its narrative culmination regards solely individual actualization. The protagonist exclaims her autonomy as a subject guided by her desire to behave sexually. However, discoveries direct her towards conciliation with her pre-existing conditions rather than destabilization for modification. Not that I require cinema to solve the world for me or close with systemic evolution, yet if the focus is on constant transformation, I'm doubtful about the minuscular alterations of the social environment beyond sporadic altruistic gestures that dissipate near the finale in favor of assimilation. Unfortunate after some of its fascinations lied in the disruption of conducts discordant with the society of manners; an antagonism in the encounter between standards of correctness and behaviors against that respectability (like in Boudu sauvé des eaux). Its goal isn't description but speculation, so its utopia reads as unimaginative.
I watched it with my GF and she also was a bit disappointed with the ending and wished for one which would have been as disturbing as the premise.
But I think having her interested and willing to go back to marriage, as promised, is an interesting counterpoint to what would otherwise feel like a pedestrian feminist message:
The message is not "she just aspires to live as she pleases and is prevented to by patriarchal society"
But "She aspires to fit in, but wants to learn everything there is about life. Which, she later finds out, also means discovering darkness."
Poor Things is fun because you can interpret it as a feminist screed against the patriarchy, or you can watch it as a /misc/ bait script about a woman with the literal brain of a baby who grows up to be a leftist prostitute and suffers no consequences for it because she's pretty.
This, yeah, kinda.
It's not a good example of either extremes, though (it's neither perfectly feminist nor perfectly Pol), but it does denounces the impasse that (female) hedonism leads to and the need for boundaries.
>society are prudes say sex bad
>emma stone has innocent baby brain and likes to sex. Therefore sex good.
>lighten up, society!
There. Thats literally the entire scope of the themes examined in this pastel colored turd
the aesthetics of the movie are so bad once it shifts to color fully are so bad. its like they shoved Brazil together with Smashing Pumpkins' "Tonight, Tonight" video and thought that was quirky enough to justify the baby brain rape.
even if that's the premise (it's not) what the frick is wrong with anything you said the movie says? yes, society is hypocrite and sex is good, and yes society punishes women for enjoying sex and yes it's absurd
>society punishes women for sex
>in 2024 when the most sure path for a woman to become a millionaire is to become an internet prostitute
You feminist morons would complain about oppressive spirit if patriarchy holding you down even if you deleted all men from existence.
As for the overall point - there is nothing absurd about society punishing people for excessive promiscuity. It’s a collective wisdom gathered through thousands of years that serves to preserve that society and even extends to species survival. Setting the norm back to fricking anyone anytime you wish would just devolve us back into mud huts and shitting in the bushes. This applies not only to sex, but to any “feel good” activity done without moderation.
Now the beauty of current day is that on the individual level you can be as transgressive as you want, because there are no laws or any serious consequences, you just need to give no fricks and you’re gtg. So you’re not really oppressed, you just want the society to adopt your personal transgressive standards as the norm, so you don’t feel like the odd one out.
I like to think the turtle would congratulate me on the sex.
please, please for the love of god don't let the manosphere destroy your brain any longer, you're already so damaged that you're almost insane, stop being an incel, there's a life out there
1 in 14 women sell nudes of themselves
Where did I even mention manosphere, you moron? I find it equally cringe as it’s basically a mirror of feminism, ie old dudes whining about being mistreated by society.
midwit takes
Pedo Things.
>her brain was 9 months old you sick frick!
>SHE'S 35 BUT SHE IDENTIFIES AS A CHILD YOU SICK FRICK
Read the novel
But I've already seen the movie.
Is different
The novel is more a satire to allegories and political gestation by using alot of meta literature
I know some of those words.
but anons told me in this thread that the movie isn’t political
The ending of the book is way better. Max (Archibald in the book) has been narratng the whole story, but the last chapter is written by Bella. She then tells us that the whole thing is made up, and we're left to realise that Max is a huge perv. He imagines his wife with the brain of an infant, that she is taken from him on several occasions by several men, and that she becomes a Parisian prostitute.
Last half hour it kinda lost me, especially when the ex husband shows up. I also hate how it portrays all the men as buttholes, abusers, manipulators, or simps. Whoring isn't good and the one man portrayed in a relatively positive albeit weak light is permissive with whoring. Women are going to watch this and the message will shape their worldview.
Not true, the homie neither of those things but a blackpilled /misc/ guy who hates the world but he wasnt an butthole
That Black person was alright but a bit of a doomer. At least he shit on socialism. Then she becomes a socialist because a sheboon gives her good muffdiving.
>bit
The Black person was clearly big fat fatalist on human society and within social ranks both are the same when they are cornered like worse than rats, the kind of pesimistic that hates seeing happiness in the face of anither person, something that actually happened in the movie, hence he took the girl to give her a reality check with the poor dying
>it portrays all the men as buttholes, abusers, manipulators, or simps
Lots of recent movies are like this, but not this one.
Godwin Baxter is a very sympathetic (if flawed) character. So is his assistant/her husband. The only completely dark character is the original husband and from what he's saying, it seems his wife, the body of Bella, was every bit as sadistic as him.
I wish they'd just release this digitally already. None of the theaters here in fricking rural Germany show movies like this. Getting movies straight to digital was one of the many reasons the pandemic was great.
Sorry guys, i cant see the work as piece of feminism i actually saw some glimpse of coomerism by lanthamos in his execution. But i can see the movie a comedy of social groups and satire of victorian times
It isn't feminist at all and Lanthimos is a blatant coomer. Most of his movies are fetish shit. Just look at Dogtooth.
stop projecting your coomer brain into actual human art
you sound like a virgin. a great deal of "actual human art" is compelled by sexuality.
yeah? and I didn't say it wasn't, the word coomer implies male consumption sex or plain pornography
>male consumption sex
a perfect description of Lanthimos's preoccupations
(And that's a good thing)
all of his movies are about control and how hypocritically fake / psychotic society is, but you are also correct in that the ending of The Favourite where Emma Stone makes a rabbit squeal by stepping on it was a deliberate act of fan service to the crush fetishist community.
Its exactly my thoughts i like the movie for different reasons but i cant see it as a feminist movie, was Lanthimos trying to do that? I dont know but if that was the reason i see alot dishonesty in his vision of this exercise
He's clearly a deranged perv. Honestly his relationship with sex is demented
Does that froggy b***h show her frickin breasts? That's the only reason I'll watch it
Yes and pussy
you see her completely nude a lot, getting fricked in multiple positions by mark ruffalo incl. her bent over being pounded while her ass visibly jiggles. it’s the closest you’ll get to seeing her actually have sex. this board will be flooded with webms once the web
dl hits.
Glad you posted this because I could've otherwise been baited into watching this.
Now I can't, it looks atrocious.
stop pretending to be interested in cinema
I like me some cinema, just don't like stuff that looks as fake as that.
Glad that you can see past it and enjoy it.
me at 0:01
Porno trash for women
>Porno trash
It's hilarious that anons itt keep hammering this point when you don't see a single hard penis in the entire movie.
So it's true what they say, that a good half of Cinemaphile doesn't watch the movies they complain about.
Frick off pedophile.
Case in point
Frick off pedophile.
Honestly surprised her breasts and vag haven't been posted a million times like other celebrities are
Loved her hair.
Frick yeah. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed.
Based very long hair enjoyer.
They should have gave the nomination to my boy Greta. No awards should go to Greek pretentious gay until they pay their debts.
Haven’t seen it, but lemme guess, “men bad women good?”
>men bad women good
very much no. Most of the men characters are sympathetic, if flawed. Even the unsympathetic ones usually still feels redeemable.
The female characters are also flawed and (often) in shades of grey.
The main character is absolutely clearly an autistic moron, who does a lot of bad decisions.
