the first time you hear Bruce being called a broken child it sounds poetic and cool, then you hear it a thousand times and it just sounds fricking stupid. >YOU KNOW WHY BRUCE HAS A POLE TO THE BATCAVE!? BECAUSE KIDS PLAY GROUNDS HAVE SLIDING POLES ON THE SIDE EVER THINK OF THAT?
This. There comes a point where it just sounds less like pointing out how silly some of the things people take for granted are, and more like petty jealousy or even sour grapes that this doofy fictional character can do this shit but the writer can't.
Obviously yes, and keeping records, trophies, intimidation techniques are all done by adults and professionals as well. But because Bruce's way of doing those methods aren't "real world" there's a desire to make these things rooted into something deeper.
>A podcast I like just spent a section reading Lex Luthor's descriptions of the JLA from Suicide Squad >They thought it was good writing
And here I am cringing the entire time, you'd be surprised how many people have normalgay tastes when it comes to comics
What got me was the Batman one, it was pure projection on Lex's part but nobody picked it up hell I'm 90% sure the actual writer for that log didn't realize what he was doing
Incredible. Between this and the one of Harley throwing flack at Batman, I have to wonder if the writers unironically hated the Justice League.

You would be unpleasantly surprised how many people seem to hold the "Batman is fascist" and the "Batman should spend his money on public goods" ideas.

I know that most of those people don't ever actually read a Batman story, which explains why they presume Batman somehow isn't doing "enough" despite doing the work of like fifty people regarding public relations and charity work

Not to mention the raw corruption in Gotham, which is "small third world nation courting the US during the Cold War" corrupt. Not to mention do you really want the idea that the only dude who can save us from unimaginable economic and criminal deprivation to be a fricking generationally wealthy billionaire, if anything that sounds more fascist than said billionaire dressing up in a gay costume to pro wrestle clowns

I feel like the meaning of "fascist" is getting lost here.

"Authoritarian" is probably a better word I'm just complaining how people will complain about Batman being one then turn around and say he should be one as Bruce Wayne instead

I'm not even sure authoritarian is the right term, since he's not trying to make new rules and force people to obey them. He's just enforcing existing laws in the absence of actual law enforcement. We have a word for that already: vigilantism.
Maybe the term vigilante just doesn't have enough bite for some people.

Seriously those first three paragraphs almost perfectly encapsulate Lex though I don't think that's what the writer was going for, it'd be too clever for a shitshow like Suicide Squad

An unfathomably smart and rich man wastes his talents and time on a petty grudge from childhood? Where have I heard that before?
Nerdshit especially games and comics have a lot of problems; >Lower barrier of entry compared to literally anything else far less nepotism and sometimes literal dick sucking >Bottom of the barrel yet weirdly prestigious >Seen as a stepping stone to Hollywood for newbies/failures
Also a lot of people who consider themselves nerds fricking HATE other nerds and nerdshit. A running throughline in a lot of modern writers is that they want to elevate the medium, especially in video games
I fail to see how Batman vanishing is anything seen as special by Gordon. If anything it’s played for laughs because of how used to it he is. There’s nothing grandiose or mystical about it
this is stupid. One of the best recurring jokes was all the bats used to sneak up him and vanish when he was talking, except the rookies before they got good. Why would you ruin something like that
Just another example of "tearing down characters is good writing, just shit on everything and you're a true artist".
short of giving him magic powers of teleportation, they must know that he's just sneaking around
>short of giving him magic powers of teleportation, they must know that he's just sneaking around
They know, but they don't know exactly how he does it. It's a magic trick and it's ruined if the audience knows.
Batman can glide, why would he use a grappling hook to descend?
Who the frick thinks that Gordon thought Batman was a fricking vampire or something?
Batman only started gliding in the movies after Begins, the grappling is the more traditional method
Uh, Batman Returns? He was gliding after the snow princess fell.
Are they not aware Bats can disappear in enclosed spaces?

But firemen use poles. They're convenient for speedy descents.

How they didn't die laughing with Lex Luthor simping for the Amazonians "solving" toxic masculinity I'll never know

Got a pic? Cause I could use a good laugh.
nta, but here

YOU KNOW WHY BATMAN DOESN'T LIKE BROCCOLI? YOU KNOW WHY HE ONLY EATS SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS AND MAC AND CHEESE?

I like to imagine it's all old hat to him after a while which he just rolls with like two old friends humoring each other's habits.
Yeah. It’s kinda like humoring the quirks of your socially inept friend.
“He does that”.

That looks like a story that's not meant to be taken seriously.
College Humor was making fun of this years ago and I'm sure they weren't the first
