This is good.. if you’re a teenager still getting dopamine hits from tv show like predictable twists.
All style no substance, basically a music video with shitty acting and plot.
Done absolutely nothing new and will be forgotten by next week.

thanks for making another thread about how forgettable this movie was
idk the hate boner people have for this movie? what did it do rape your fricking mother? or are you just mad the ugly twink has a bigger dick than you?
I haven't seen a legitimate criticism about this movie besides that its predictable or not as CRAZY as someone who recommended it said
Read the OP
>style over substance
>shit acting and unoriginal plot
>Muh recycle class satire
>whole thing is just a music video not a well directed film
It felt like a wannabe uk version of parasite with a Muh dark twist.
>It felt like a wannabe uk version of parasite
That's what it is, lol. Some anon tried to say it isn't, but it's just Parasite.
>just so unrealistic
I don't know about that, because other movies portray the British similarly. Have you seen The King? There's a scene where Timothee is shouting and giving a rousing speech and all the soldiers are just silent. I think it's accurate.
I have seen the king and yes it was trying to show the up tight in denial British family but as I said was too forced to execute its point. Hardly groundbreaking filmmaking even if it did the scene well. Yeah just parasite , also Barry broke his scouser accent multiple times so I couldn’t take him seriously.
>Barry broke his scouser accent multiple times so I couldn’t take him seriously.
Do you know Jacob (guy who plays Felix) is Australian? I could tell, because he sounds like me, and he broke his accent at times too.
>Muh recycle class satire
it barely has anything to say about class besides that the rich have it a little easier. the rich people are shown as just incompetent as everyone else. Even the MC lives a cozy middle class life. It's not b***hing about class.
>shit acting and unoriginal plot
who was shit at acting in this movie?
you know theres only like 30 plots in stories right? show me an original plot in the past 5 years
>style over substance
oh so a movie and not a script?
I swear some of you have fricking 90 iqs its insane. Go back to watching marvel schlock homosexual
If you think this movie says nothing about class then your iq is below 50.
All the acting was standard and watched like a UK soap.
Implying I watch marvel slop? Says the guy who likes a film equivalent to HBO’s euphoria.
you come off as 90 iq though
you even post like a black person!
it's obnoxiously tailored to queer millenial socialist and I have no faith in it's commentary being worth a shit after the abomination that was Promising Young Woman
It’s nice to see they’re casting moon man in stuff
>It’s nice to see they’re casting moon man in stuff
Lawl. Do you call him moon man because of his head? That's Aemond Targaryen.
That chin is fricking awful, he's like a cartoon character.
t. seething chinlet/jawlet
It's an Americanized version of Pasolini's Teorema. The twist is stupid, but otherwise it's not terrible for what it is.
it was written, directed by and starred British people.
It's an extremely British movie, and that's why I like it. I mean extremely, because of the scene where Felix is dead and they go have lunch.
That scene was extremely forced trying to imply the in denial British nature, yes I got what it was getting at but just so unrealistic
i somehow didn't know that
I heard there's a wiener in it.
Yes, there is. You get to see Barry's pp at the end of the movie. I don't know why you would want to see it, but it's in there.
I don't like that Barry guy actor. He always plays some moron. That joker clip was one of the worst things I've ever seen
>I don't like that Barry guy actor. He always plays some moron
Imagine this movie but they swapped the actors for Oliver and Felix. It would look really stupid, right? He gets the roles he does because of the way he looks.
For all the people saying it's "cuh-razy" or not the only reason I want to see it is because it sounds like it really leans into it being the mid-00s. Look at this shit I can just hear Klaxons and Bloc Party blaring
I like this song that plays during the tennis scene.
?si=wyonrteHa6rnwQ9e
Is this really a reason for a film being good and enjoyable? Because there’s a recycled half decent old song in it, watch tik toks instead.
>Is this really a reason for a film being good and enjoyable?
I enjoyed it because it looked nice, and the protagonist was relatable, and it was funny. If you don't think it looks good then watch something else. There's like a hundred threads of stuff I don't think looks good.
Zoomer detected
If you think I'm a zoomer then why reply? It must be bad out there, which is why you're hiding in here.
>protagonist is relatable
Are you a psycho?
>Are you a psycho?
No... I mean the nerd and loner part. Also, being friends with Chad. Those are the relatable parts, and not being a psycho.
The only thing the film did good was recreate a 2005-2006 feeling
The music was good
The rest was meh, predictable
The "shocking" bits felt forced
>The "shocking" bits felt forced
They did feel like moments written in so people would tell others how crazy it is after watching
>period blood scene
>the funeral
>bath tub
Shocking bits weren’t even bad lol , normies need to watch some real shocking scenes
Okay, Electro. I don't like shocking scenes, so I thought they were sufficiently shocking.
Thank you for your honesty didn’t mean to come across as an edge Lord, genuinely didn’t find them that shocking.
I don't even watch Horror movies, because I don't like being shocked. Must be a poor person thing.
It’s more European art house than horror
This movie? Yeah, it's not Horror. The stuff is gross and not horrifying.
and it's actually funny in its absurdity.
Why did he do this
i liked rosamund pike in it
I think she looks good despite her age, whatever it is.
Well... he did say he loved him. We never actually see Oliver with a woman. I like to think he was trying to experience what he missed out.
more like saltbussy haha
I enjoyed it a lot considering it had next to no plot, I was hoping it would turn into an Argento style film by then end. The twist felt very lazy but it didn’t detract from the film very much because there was so little going on plot wise. Too many music video scenes is my biggest complaint.
You're right about everything, OP, except that the movie is still good despite your criticism. It's beautiful to look at and entertaining. I understand being annoyed because this type of movies attracts psueds pretending like they 'get it', but you're being a psued yourself by resorting to hyperbole just because you recognize it has no depth.
>It's beautiful to look at and entertaining
I'm not sure what else people want from a movie. If I'm going to watch some shit for two hours then it has to look good, and also be interesting, which is what this movie is. I've never seen a school like the one in this movie, or been inside a manor.
I watch movies for this exact reason: To see stuff I'd never be able to in real life.
OP here, hardly say it’s beautiful and entertaining for a tv show but as a movie it falls so short
>it’s beautiful and entertaining for a tv show
Saltburn would be much worse as a show, because it's a Drama and it's only saved by the comedy.
Didn’t laugh once at the comedic aspect
Are you serious? What nationality are you that you didn't find this funny?
British
That's crazy. You must be like an old man, then, because I can't think of any other reason. I thought it was great.
I have a good sense of humour and yeah you’re right I do have the soul of an old bitter man
>yeah you’re right I do have the soul of an old bitter man
Well, I'm like a child, so maybe that's I was able to enjoy a movie directed by a woman. A polite child, but still a child.
it isn't funny. it's gay
I'm sorry you feel that way, but I thought it was funny. Just means we'd never be friends in real life.
I fail to understand how something can be entertaining if the acting and story is bad. You'd be better off playing a video game at that point, at least you'd be in control.
you can’t call somebody a psued for correctly criticizing something
>female director/writer who is a nepo baby
Of course it's trash. And this is not to say that there aren't good female directors working currently. For example, Marielle Heller is a good female director, and I like most of Bigelowes work. But they're more the exception than the rule
The real issue is that there are no really great film directors of any kind working today, male or female. I haven't seen an American movie in the last 5 years where I left the theater thinking to myself 'that director is special'.
Agreed
>We'd never be friends in real life
Oh nooooo.....anyway
It's one of the most fearless and provocative films ever made, up there with Pasolini's 'Salo'.
Right up there with Weitz’s “American Pie” (1999)
Really? I felt like it was in-line with most 'psychological thrillers' of the past 5 years, in terms of both tone and story. Hardly what I'd call provocative and fearless, although I get the impression you're memeing with buzzwords and don't really mean that.
>I get the impression you're memeing with buzzwords and don't really mean that.
I think they're being sarcastic. This one made it really obvious:
I'm too drunk to mean anything, you are correct.
This movie was the edgiest thing i've seen since /b/ in 2003
/b/ wasn’t edgy in 2003
It'll inspire men to frick dirt and dance with slinky dicks out as the Chad's Rebellion. Simply cos other men won't.
Movie is a solid 8/10
Well acted and filmed. It kinda loses the plot a little bit but I enjoyed watching in disgust at every bit
