this is my favorite flick.
the story is beautiful, the cinematography is amazing, the colors, the landscapes. the score is fantastic.
I've seen other wim wenders movies and I enjoyed them, specially the american friend and wings of desire.

Mine too along with C'Eravamo Tanto Amati.
will i like it if im a adhd moronic zoomer?
give it a go.
it can start a bit slow according to some people but I disagree.
didn't know that one, will put it on my list.
I love this movie too anon, but get real. It's incredibly slow.
I'm a zoomer too and I liked it
But, the payoff for the entire movie is in like the last 3 seconds of the movie and it's not even in focus (true ending)
Everything about it is comfy though, you kind of just gotta strap in and comfy up
What are you talking about
I posted it in spoiler
He leaves her the kid and rides off to be alone again
Am I forgetting something?
He does, but the mom shows up and gets the kid, and if you look closely she has her wedding band on, signifying that she was looking to try to start over with Travis and try to make it work
same, it's interesting that a movie that feels so "american" was made a foreigner
no way
great movie, miss Harry
Nothing Happens: The Movie
Was this where Vince got his inspiration for Breaking Bad?
I mean Better Call Saul
it's not that nothing happens, you're just given a breather between each major change that happens in the movie so the characters can react
>guy picks up his long lost brother who was found wandering around
>takes him home to reconnect with his son
>he takes his son to track down the boy's mother
>finds her in a peep show, they reconcile (somewhat) and he leaves her with her son
these are the main beats of the movie and it's paced perfectly around them
>be deadbeat dad
>take child away from his successful loving foster parents
>plop him onto his poor biological mother who works as a prostitute
>leave
How was this supposed to be a good story?
oh its most certainly not happy story, its just masterful tone/ambience, its a visceral account of despondency, verybwell done, bit too long though
don't forget
>woman starts fire in trailer and leaves for no good reason
what a schizo
when she do that?
before harry's character sets off to wander the desert bro. the scene itself isn't on the film, but they talk about it.
ah right, think i remember now
no one besides the brother does anything that makes sense. they're so unlikable.
>How was this supposed to be a good story?
Guess you didn't actually dissect the last scene. It's not happy, it's hopeful but melancholy.
The mom shows up to the rendezvous with her wedding ring on
I found American Friend better than Paris Texas, Wings of Desire also starts great but has some weak middle parts
liked alice in the city myself. didn't think much of this one though. didn't feel like the payoff was all that cathartic.
Until the End of the World is underrated.
It's fricking awful
It's kino.
probably doesn't help that the version that reached theaters was butchered by Warner Bros, why they would pick up films by directors like Wenders and Kusturica and then edit them is beyond me
loved that movie
tried watching wings of desire after and that narration was gay as frick and dropped it
anyway my recommendation is The Straight Story
>tried watching wings of desire after and that narration was gay as frick and dropped it
My recommendation is that you have a nice day
>anyway my recommendation is The Straight Story
I've seen every Lynch there is to be seen.
I enjoyed it too, emotional Lynch is quite good. Elephant Man was great in that same vein as well.
those tapes are so comfy but melancholic, it's almost as if I was there.
>those tapes are so comfy but melancholic, it's almost as if I was there.
The older I get, the harder this move hits.
>THAT scene of Citizen Kane
~~*Bernstein*~~ puts it perfectly.
Forgot CK link
by tapes do you mean the films soundtrack?
I think he means the 8mm scene.
ah cool, nice
anyone seen that film about harry dean stanton by the way? any good?
no, the old videotapes that they watch in the movies as shown in this video
for me it's the nastassja kinski kino trilogy of
>To the Devil a Daughter
>Cat People
>Terminal Velocity
Nuovo Cinema Paradiso
Amarcord
THAT scene of Citizen Kane
Porco Rosso
Only Lovers Left Alive
>Amarcord
op here, La dolce vita by Fellini is one of my very favorites along with Paris, Texas but Amarcord for me was borderline unbearable. Didn't like it at all.
Nuovo Cinema is comfy.
Thanks for the suggestions, Satan.
>Amarcord for me was borderline unbearable.
Bizarre to me but you do you man.
Perhaps is a matter of background? Are you a fukken spaghetti like me?
no, I'm south american but I speak italian and have watched and read a lot of italian stuff, I'm a Cinemaphilegay as well.
I see. In this case, you can recommend me some kino, latinbro. I speak Spanish and I understand Portuguese.
I used to hang out on this stream site and one of the streamers went by the name bigmeme4u, I'd go into their chat everyday and demand he stream Paris, Texas. He never actually steamed the movie but I made a Chatango account and got to know the dude over the course of a couple years. He'd always stream obscure Japanese softcore porn movies because he knew I liked them. Life got busy so I stopped coming around for a few months and when I came back they linked me his obituary. He'd died of type one diabetes complications. That movie always reminds me of him. RIP Andrew.
>Man : I knew this crew, these seven people. They used to work well with each other. Especially the Chief Engineer and the other technician, who was quite a bit older. They were all kind of raggedy and wild, and a bit loose on safety protocols. Also the Warrant Officer was very beautiful, you know. And all together they turned everything into an adventure. And they liked that. Just an ordinary trip down to Thedus for raw ores was full of adventure. They were always laughing at stupid things, you know, say a broken compressor. They laughed and they didn’t care much for anything else because all they wanted to do was work with each other. But pretty soon they started to worry.
>Woman : ‘Bout what?
>Man : Money I guess. The Bonus Situation. Not knowing when the next check was coming in.
>Woman : Yep. I know that feeling.
>Man : So.. the Executive officer started to get kind of torn inside.
>Woman: What do you mean?
>Man: Well he was impregnated by an alien lifeform that grew inside him.
>Woman : I see.
>Man : And the more time was passing , the crazier it got. Except now things got really crazy. They started seeing all kinds of things.
>Woman: Like what?
>Man: They started thinking that there was a grown up perfect organism in the air ducts. Picking them up one by one.
good post bro
is it dialogue from paris, texas?
It's a parody of the final dialogue. Using as material Alien, in which Stanton acted as character actor, excellent as always.
Watch both.
oh man, that really went over my head haha
thanks for the explanation
I hate this kind of film so much
What do you hate, and what do you mean for "this kind of film"?
>what do you mean there is no clear villain
>what do you mean there is no action
>where are my quips?
>what do you mean it resonates with people with actual life experience? No YOU are the bugman!
love it too, I'd recommend in a similar vein:
American Honey
The Florida Project
>this is my favorite flick.

If you feel threatened by such earnest movie, stick to capeshit, you immature child.
