Precisely. It went from a very good, realistic depiction of a quiet out-there premise and was a quirky dramedy. Then, this happened. It turned to absolute mindless slop thereafter. As if you replaced some good writers with a bunch of comic book writing morons.

Nah, it was pretty grounded until season 3. The fulminated mercury shit was just a one-off frick up. It definitely was an early warning for what was to come, though.

I think the third season of BCS is as good as BB but otherwise I prefer the latter. Especially season 1 and 2 of BB, and 4 to a slightly lesser degree.

I find that once chuck dies and Hector is paralyzed Bcs feels a bit narratively lost.

        Anonymous

I can agree that Season 4 kind of meanders after Chuck's death but I think it picks up again strongly in Season 5.
What I don't get is all the claims that 1st season sucks because it's too slow, I think if it didn't take its time with its build ups the pay-offs wouldn't have been nearly as good.

          Anonymous

season 1 has a kind of absurd/wacky charm to it that makes it good in its own way but it's true that it doesn't really get the drama storylines going until like halfway through, iirc.

I find the tonal shift in season 5 jarring. I don't know if it had to be so gritty. It's definitely competently made but I just don't like it that much personally. Lalo is pretty amusing though

            Anonymous

I think it gets gritty in 5 unfortunately because of its nature as a prequel series. They probably felt they needed to start aggressively building towards BB's tone the closer they got to the end, for better or worse.

      Anonymous

BCS was lame the stuff at HHM was gold but the series took a nose dive when chuck died the more it dipped into the 'breaking bad universe' cartel stuff the worse it got you could tell that the writers were too insecure in the original premise and tried as hard as they could to tie into the original series

I like BCS more overall but I'm not gonna pretend it doesn't occasionally have the opposite problem of taking too much screentime on unnecessary shit.

Why did Mike feel the need to specify that his guys were solid? What else would they be? Does Mike know of other guys that are liquid or in a gaseous state?

      Anonymous

His guys were not remotely solid, about 5 of them flipped kek. Mike was kind of dumb about some stuff

      Anonymous

In English "solid" can also take on the same meaning as "reliable" or "trustworthy" when used to describe a person. In this context Mike, was calling his guys "solid" to mean they could be expected to adhere to an implied criminal code of not cooperating with police and especially not naming their co-conspirators. I hope this was helpful.
