Making these three movies at once used every thing he had up. I think he said so himself

compared to what? if you mean the book I don't see how. it's pretty similar. in fact, I could've done without the scouring of the shire. saruman's death is hilariously anticlimactic. much better in the films.

        >saruman's death is hilariously anticlimactic
I think that's kinda the point though, this big bag narcissist dies like a common thug and is forgotten. Obviously it would suck translated to film but it's basically humiliating him to die that way.

There's a reason Christopher Tolkien didn't like it. And his father wouldn't if he was alive. It's absolute fricking slop and Peter Jackson is a homosexual hack but you won't get people to accept this because it's their autistic nostalgia security blanket. I was guilty of liking it for the same reasons until I started reading more and got a fricking clue.

No Christopher didn’t like them because Jackson would swap lines of dialogue and actions from character to character. It kept the tone of the work the same while butchering characterizations.

I've read all of Tolkien's books, many of them multiple times and i like the movies just fine. The books are obviously superior, but the movies are about the best adaptation we could've hoped for. No studio was ever going to fund this shit without it being more action oriented.

tbh i'm drunk and going overly hard on the books and movies but ultimately it's true they are largely bad and corny movies. that said, there's nothing wrong with enjoying janky shit occasionally, life is a balance of liking quality and trash, it's best to be fluid.

also if LOTR didn't exist this wouldn't exist which would be a crime:

Jackson's LOTR was the Rings of Power of its time. You just like it because it was in a different context and you were younger and more impressionable when you first saw it. Deal with it.

Nobody because I'm not trying to trick anybody. It's corny dogshit made by cornballs in a slop industry just like Rings of Power. Sure, Rings of Power has its own issues that come from a modern context and the pervasive tokenism/"representation" is cancer but that's not even in the top ten reasons it's shit despite the chud spergouts.

Which do you think is more likely:

                >Pedro Jackson is a genius warrior of the west who has a deep appreciation of the myths portrayed in Tolkien's novels and went into with a deep and serious approach that will stand as a testament to the spiritual might of the pale race for years to come. If he were to pick up Mjolnir right now it would be fricking over for any brownoid within a five leagues of his Hyperborean excellence.

                or

                >PJ is some stupid fat motherfricker in an industry full of people like him with a trash beard making infantile adaptations of genre fiction from the 50s and adding his own dogshit sensibilities into it to the point that even Tolkien's braindead son started seething because it was so egregious.

Yknow I recently rewatched Fellowship and God the pacing was awful. Just breakneck speed every scene, kinda gave me anxiety. And the action was horrendous. Just quick cuts over and over. Like random shots of swords swinging and the someone's face and an orcs face and someone else yelling. No continuity whatsoever everything is so fast.

Bait aside OP is correct in the basic sense.

It really was. It's funny to look back and think of the old "LOTR vs Harry Potter" stuff of the time when LOTR seemed like the clear pick but nowadays the LOTR flicks are just cornball trash and the HP flicks are genuinely soulful childrens' entertainment and had Rowling involved.

You could even say Rowling mogs Tolkien in the sense that while Tolkien was a scholar and she's just some single mom it doesn't matter because his autistic project of turning these old yuro myths into epic stories colored by his Catholic shit sprinkled everywhere was kinda schizo and lame in hindsight. Meanwhile Rowling just made a fun boarding school world that will hold up forever. It has more staying power than

nah Lord of the Rings was what created most RPGs and games of nowadays. It was a really influential series of books that did create an universe and the hollywoodian trilogy did capture some of the magic (although I honestly think it disgusting). I don't like half of what hollywood makes of literature, but in this case I did scratch an itch for most of its fans.
