>good thing we have this handsome death inmate with acting chops ready to go
lots of psychopathic types are great actors, handsome too
lots of them are scheduled to die the day you need them too?
Yes
>may I see them?
No
>this handsome death inmate
This is on you, homo.
if your life is on the life you would probably try very hard
They probably told him if he sells it well enough and nothing happens to him then he's free to go
so L was truly the villain
how so, israeliteboy
Always was
well, he wanted the world to still have criminals or else he would get bored out of his skull, so his reason to catch kira is petty enough to put him as a sort of villain
seems like L was more like House and the justice angle was just a LARP
House is also a villain.
House is a positive force in the universe. Even Wilson says so.
It’s true that L would’ve been just as bad if given the death note probably worse. Even if L had everyone cowtowing to his demands, he eventually would reached a conclusion similar to light if given the power. There were no temptations to show his moral fiber
but he did had the death note in his possession and could have used it secretly, but he didnt
Remind me did a literal death god come out and tell him about its power? I bet if he believed he wasn’t being watched and knew he’d do it.
L and House are crooked versions of Sherlock Holmes and even Sherlock was kind of a dick that didn't obey the law.
Sherlock injected cocaine and smoked major leaf while he solved mysteries. Total chad.
>probably
That's literally what L says they did when he steps in after Lind gets killed. Dude was stated to be executed at the time of the broadcast so they told him that if he survived he was free to go. Pretty good deal honestly.
Why did he agree to do it? Did they offer to give his relatives piles of money or was it just Japanese warrior's honor autism?
he was going to be released from his life sentence if he survived
He was on death row already. The choice was regular execution or execution doing this performance which wouldn't kill him unless magic existed. He took the live if magic doesn't exist option.
>betting against wizards
I believe the deal made was if it turns out magic isn't real, he got to go free.
He tries to arrange another similar deal later on.
>austic teen who is good at solving mysteries or something somehow gets the government to agree to release a psychopathic killer from death row if magic turns out to not be real
how did he do it?
Governments know magic is real.
homie they already know Kira exists and has supernatural killing powers
I'm talking about the first time with Lind L Tailor. Kira/Magic was not yet established to exist, it was just a hunch of an autistic teen with a reputation for solving mysteries.
They know someone is doing something somehow. The proposal wasn't put forth as hey magic exists so. The proposal was let's risk baiting Kira to do what he does live on camera to get footage of what happens at risk of letting this guy go.
>>They know someone is doing something somehow.
But they don't really know that. All they really know is an unlikely number of people have dropped dead. That's hardly a reasonable basis to bet the life of a psycho convicted to death on the premise of magic existing.
Light had obtained the nickname Kira by this point. The public had caught on.
The public believe in all kinds of dumb nonsense, like Q. The public believing Kira to exist doesn't mean that believing in Kira is actually reasonable.
Are you saying at no point nobody in the entire government checked to see if Q was real? Interesting.
Kira actually DID exist though, and he wasn't doing a particularly good job of covering his tracks. Every governmentt in the world knew something was up, and L was able to put together a mostly accurate psychological profile of Light and narrow down his general location just by paying attention to the times criminals were dying
>He wasn't doing a particularly good job at covering his tracks
He shouldn't have to hide his existence at all. Light is not actually a genius, or even a particularly smart criminal. He wasn't even fricked after they found out what district he lives in through the broadcast. He had no reason to hack his dad's computer, otherwise they never would have known the suspect is connected to the police. That's how he fricked himself.
I mean seriously. He can kill using literal magic from a thousand miles away. There's no way to solve that case. And yet he hacked into his dad's computer because "he needs to know how close they are to finding him" which in doing so allowed them to find him
And millions of weeks now somehow believe this guy to be the manifestation of intellect
>I mean seriously. He can kill using literal magic from a thousand miles away. There's no way to solve that case. And yet he hacked into his dad's computer because "he needs to know how close they are to finding him" which in doing so allowed them to find him
he wanted to challenge the global establishment before he dismantled it. his God complex drove him to take risks he perceived as negligible
Again it was ego. Light was egotistical. He loved playing the game with the detectives, it gave him a sense of danger and control. If he eliminated his ego he could’ve easily slipped between the cops.
Once he got had, he was doing big damage control.
His plan was to exploit his tie to the police to sew dissent between L and the police so they'd take each other out.
all he needed to do is stick to his routine and not take obvious bait. if he didn't let himself get provoked by "Lind L Tailor" and just ignored any attempts authorities made to reach out and provoke him, and just stuck to killing criminals, he would have denied them any control over him and they'd have frick all leverage over him.
Was Lind L. Tailor a psycho? You keep repeating it
He was on death row, it's reasonable to infer that he was some sort of dangerous criminal.
L is like Sherlock Holmes in the international detective contracting world so he has some credit to his name. Also total scumbags are released on deals with the feds all the time over much less important shit.
I'm just not gonna watch death note.
I know, I know, I'm sorry. But I'm just not gonna do it is all.
Based. Watch Kaiji instead.
GAMBOOORING
your loss
It is exceedingly stupid
you should. I've only watched a handful of animes but it's a favorite show in general. very fun psychological thriller, good animation, good english dub, interesting supernatural concept, and excellent soundtrack, you'll be bobbing your head the whole time.
>good animation
There are quite a few low budget and barely animated episodes, and nothing all that demanding usually happens, but it generally looks okay. You're absolutely right about the soundtrack, though.
Everyone loves "L theme" I play it whenever I get my hands on a piano/guitar. Also the deep bass Yotsuba Group track is radical.
I too love cheap cartoons with stories specifically made to be as milkable and drawn out as possible
there aren't many parts I remember them stretching it out. there's a bit of jap silliness, mainly from Misa but it doesn't slow down much.
now that anime Monster, holy frick what a drag. I watched a dozen episodes and have not forced myself through any more
>excellent soundtrack
>listened to maximum the hormone the whole week
shit, the botnet is after me
Watch Code Geass instead
Theyre similar but their are definitely strengths and weaknesses to both. I like CG more I think
>fun action scenes
>better supporting cast
>better music and animation
Its less grounded and the character designs are much worse, but otherwise I think its all around more fun
correct choice
Frick you. Don't post in the same threads as me ever again.
No one cares it's entirely your loss. One of the greatest anime series ever made
dangerously based
watch Ashita no Joe instead. now that is some kino
Death Note came out right on the cusp of smart phones about to take over the world
There's a timeskip in the series and it goes to 2012 but everyone's still using flip phones kek.
At one point in the series Light fires up Nord vpn and calls the U.S president through skype while he's doing work in the oval office
>There's a timeskip in the series and it goes to 2012 but everyone's still using flip phones kek.
That would still be accurate for Japan in 2012. Frickers love their flip phones and clung on to them for dear life. I think even now you can still get them in Japan.
UNFATHOMABLY BASED.
>posts pic out of context
>it's still hilarious

Cringe newbie
> I am so smart, so brilliantly smart
>but I am smater
Sorry for spoiling the entire show's dialogue
>Kira kills everybody with heart attacks
>notices Lind L. Tailor is bait
>gives him a brain aneurysm instead
>people endlessly debate if he was murdered or not
I’m literally Kira.
accept the shinigami eyes you coward
The only problem with Light is he was too prideful. Had he accepted the eyes he still would’ve had a cult like backing, but he wouldn’t have been able to oversee things like his ego wanted.
paradoxically, the eyes would have kept him alive longer. he could have lived undefeated for half of his natural lifespan instead of being defeated and dying young.
Ryuk would have killed him eventually once he got bored
Is it supposed to be natural lifespan though? I always thought it just KNEW when you were going to die 100%, and if you cut your time in half you would have inevitably died then.
So for example, if Light did take the eyes, he would have been fated to die halfway through the story essentially.
Light is supposed to live till 80 or something but Ryuk ended his life early with the death note
>Light is supposed to live till 80 or something
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm source?
wat? Ryuk could see his lifespan as soon as he met him, presumably the time he is killed by Ryuk. if he took the eyes Ryuk would finish him off at half-time
>presumably the time he is killed by Ryuk
The life span does not count to the time the death gods take their life. It counts to their natural death.
Does this mean he's invincible if Ryuk doesn't kill him? Like could he tank bullets and shrug off cancer? He explicitly states the he's the one that will write Light's name in the note and his book was completely blank except for Light's name.
Ryuk knows he's not going to get hit by the tank or develop cancer because he can see his lifespan and will detail his cause of death. There's a whole pseudo-determinism thing going on
All according to 計画, my homie.
* Translators note: 計画 means 'plan'
Kira would never say that unless it was to someone he knew was about to d
Wtf anon are you ok-
> no translator notes
Gay.
you mean KINO
>light only loses because…Near somehow made a copy of the notebook down to the microscopic level in a few hours
10/10 writing
The show got pretty moronic by the time they were operating out of a skyscraper built just for the investigation, so whatever. I was going to drop it by episode 30, but then I realized I only had a couple more hours to go so I just finished it off. It was worth it to see the conclusion. Light did so much autistic shit to not get caught that it was pretty appropriate that he'd lose like that.
the entire show was autistic as frick from the very start. just look at the absurd drama of the potato chip scene.
but this is a big part of what makes it so much fun
>the potato chip scene
kek love this part. would also quote it with my friends in times of ironic severity
in the mango the potato chip was just one line in a dialog bubble
I don't know anything about mangas or other tropical fruit, I'm just talking about the show. I think the show knows how ridiculous it is and embraces it
yeah I know I thought I'd just throw it out there
also I remembered it wrong
I don't get why do people think Death Note was ever meant to be taken seriously at all times, i rewatched it recently and was surprised to see how many jokes it had, made me like the series even more.
>I don't get why do people think Death Note was ever meant to be taken seriously at all times
I don't think that and I wasn't arguing that, but he's right in saying Light's defeat is totally ridiculous. It's not a joke, but it is hilariously contrived. In the end I think it's fitting that he would lose in such a ridiculous way, though.
There's a difference between humor and going beyond reasonable believability because you hit the gas too hard. I'd argue the skyscraper part does that, but I wouldn't list it as a serious complaint against the series as a whole. I was going to drop it because after 30 episodes I was a bit bored. None of the stuff after L's death is as compelling. I did enjoy how relatively grounded it all starts, but I understand it couldn't stay that way forever.
the author kind of got himself trapped and ended up using an asspull move because he really wanted Light to lose at the end
he even said that he hated Light and L was his favorite character or some shit like that
in other words, the author was a hack
>make manga where the whole story revolves around a villain upping his enemies
>"NOOOO EVEN IF HE'S THE MAIN CHARACTER, HE HAS TO LOSE BECAUSE HE'S... LE BAD!"
Anon, in the first episode Ryuk tells him that he will write Light's name in his Death Note, it had to end that way
Ryuk said he would write his name not long before he would naturally die if he managed to win, he only did it like he did because he wouldnt known when kira was going to die after being caught (I guess he thought that having kira isolated in prison could cause an early death too)
You argued about Kira losing, and without taking into account that Ryuk's payoff, now we would be in season 20 and Kira fighting against detective Y, or Kira won the end
whats up with brown morons and crying about their precious anti-heroes losing
>in other words, the author was a hack
Only underage edgelords wanted Light to win.
a few hours is a bit far fetched but he did have access to millions of dollars and already had a state of the art anti-Kira network on the burner
He specifically stated that a single man copied it 1:1 in a few hours
It's like poetry, it rhymes.
Light only got as far as he did because nobody know what the rules are so he could just change the rules of the game, so of course he'd lose because someone changed the rules of the game on him.
this is why I only watch the live action japanese duology films. its the only adaptation to include the original planned ending for the manga, before shonen forced the writers to stretch it out
>Columbo but you....
>Should be dead? I'm afraid not Mr. Light, you see that's not your notebook, its mine.
>Now and just one more thing, can you please confirm or deny the fact that you were present at the subway station at the time of Agent Penber's death? He and apparently several other FBI agents coincidentally all passed away within forty seconds of each other and some were still even in the United States. It would be incredibly helpful to us both if you were willing to elaborate upon this.
That episode finale was so fricking kino.
this is why the show should have ended after L dies.
It wasn't Near, it was Gevanni. You don't frick with Gevanni.
>L only lost because not one but two death gods decided to suicide for Misa
And this
>tranime
Kys troony homosexual
>kills a bunch of rando criminals instead of major world figures
The Japanese are inane. If an American got ahold of the Death Note, every government on Earth would collapse within a month.
>Killing the puppets in charge of the countries
A better idea would be to order them to tell the public all their secrets, who is really in charge and so on, before committing sudoku themselves
That’s a good point you could do it that way. You could write in the death note write down the names of your handlers and have a nice day after broadcasting it on tv and they’d have to do it.
If you start killing random people with no real evidence other than some dogmatic "politicians bad >:(" you're no better than the criminals OR politicians.
>killing random people
Targeting political leaders by definition is not random.
true. the thought of scribbling bankers and journalist names in the note while snacking on tendies and watching kinos is making my dick hard
mello is literally me
Mello scenes were so fricking kino. I wish they gave him more screentime in the anime.
I still get sad thinking about the FBI agent. Just because she was never found.
She got a fancy send-off where it implies she hanged herself in a cabin somewhere.
She was too hot for the show.
Misa Misa would've been mogged pretty bad if Naomi would've still been around.
nice
Same. I hate that more than anything.
Agreed. At least she has a solid presence in the light novel.
>After doing a slow striptease and then raping me and making me cum inside and then washing out her vegana with vinegar and erasing my prints and traces of hair from her clothes she took a flight back to the states and died from food poisoning

I kneel
>If you start killing random people with no real evidence other than some dogmatic "politicians bad >:(" you're no better than the criminals OR politicians.
How did we go from
>hey since the killings started in this city at these specific hours i deduce its probably student in this area

>not to mention possible retweet, screenshot used to illustrate an article or even a thread on Cinemaphile or reddit
>Or even that the account appeared in your feed when you don't even follow it
have has tens of thousands of followers
Still narrowing it down
>>not to mention possible retweet, screenshot used to illustrate an article or even a thread on Cinemaphile or reddit
Twitter data would show time of retweets so add followers of retweet accounts too.
Yes the list after 1 time is probably in the hundreds of thousands by now
And then you repeat.
Make a Cinemaphile thread with info not elsewhere. Hiro gives the IPs of everyone who opened the thread.
Do another twitter account
Corss reference ovelap of the people on list from first account and the Cinemaphile thread
And then you go into profiling.
>do with the news not in English to see what languages you speak
This will very quickly narrow things down to a few thousand if you are American. Then drastic measures can start.
>Hiro gives the IPs of everyone who opened the thread.
I zoom at 250% on my web navigator, got fricked, not gonna click on the thread
get fricked L
also why would we start searching by posting info on twitter ?
>I zoom at 250% on my web navigator, got fricked, not gonna click on the thread
You wouldn't know they were onto you yet and tracking you yet. Be honest. Sure after they play they hand and you are aware you start this.
>also why would we start searching by posting info on twitter ?
Same reason they did it on tv in the show. That's just how people get news now.
Also it would set the ground work for later drastic measures.
People like you always forget that Light specifically WANTED everyone to know there was a singular entity handing out judgement. Of course it's going to be an entirely different scenario if you want the exact opposite and do everything you can to stay hidden and undetected.
this show was kinda gay after the first 5 episodes but that episode with the jap wife and light hanging out while he tries to get her name was 10/10
*ruins the second half of your kino*
Don't bully my son like that
>write a politicians name in the death note
>mail a piece of the death note to that politician
>write that the politician will cut their piece of the death note into pieces, then write down the names of their handlers/friends/collaborators and mail those pieces to them, with instructions for them to do the same
>recursive death note chain letter rips through all the world's governments
He would die 40 seconds after you wrote his name
>Kira is the Japanese word for Killer
>puts on real kino instead
I still don't get what was the purpose of their journey seems like everything would have happened anyway as the city plotted.
>Pointless journey
That 99% of anime and manga
Pic not related?
COME AND SAAAAAAVE MEEEEEEEEE
>redefines the meaning of the word "kino"
Wasn't a fan. Enjoyed the first few episodes but somewhere in the middle it lost me.
Wasnt a FAN of L organization. Would be better if L was himself like this self made and shit.
just a reminder that light is Japanese.
no, THIS is some bullshit
that was bona fide kino. man's hubris resulting in a tragedy is always great.
Was there ever another moment where he loses control of gease again? It could have given more justification to his ending but it feels like there were a lot of missed opportunities to use it as another major plot point.
No. He starts using contacts. Same thing others with perma active tend to do.
I think the scene still needs to be there. It's comical and contrived that it's on her at this time, but if say it went haywire another time there's no impact. To a unimportant rando: "Ah shit I didn't mean to order that, better wear glasses now", or it goes down the exact same kind of path and he accidentally orders someone important in his inner circle (could expose his magic far earlier etc) to do something offhand. Drama is also king in this story as well.
There wasn't because losing control was always a temporary thing when the geass started to become permanent. After it does there's no way for it to accidentally activate because it's just on by default and he uses contacts to prevent accidental commands.
This was foreshadowed so hard only morons think it came out of nowhere.
Am i the only one who genuinely liked Mello? He's actually a really unique antagonist in this particular series because unlike L and Near he actually gets shit done with his own hands instead of hiding everytime, he also has mafia guys on his team instead of the police or goverment agents like Kira, L and Near have.
The raid episode where Light's dad get the Shinigami's eyes and attack his hideout was my favorite part of the timeskip, Matt was also a cool character especially in the manga.
best theme in the show
No I agree with you.
Mello > Near
He was the most realistic detective. If you knew someone was murdering people by supernatural means you wouldn't play fair and bypass due process. A real life Yagami Light would get assassinated by federal agents upon suspicion and not receive a fair trial. I'm surprised Light wasn't getting hounded by paranoid vigilantes.
I hate both Near and Mello because they're literally just autistic teenagers. At least with L you could at least pretend he's an actual detective
but he was just another autistic guy, and prob not that older than near and mello
But he had the vibe of being an intelligence agent of some kind, so I could pretend in my head he wasn't just an autistic teenager
Mello didn't want to be a detective though, he just wanted to finish what L couldn't
dude, he got mad because he wasnt selected as L's sole heir and instead got paired with the nerd Near he hated, but he totally did wanted to be like L
When I first watched it I hated Mello, but the second time I appreciated him a lot more. He genuinely was what the story needed, a wild card that didn't follow the law.
I highly suggest to everyone to please read the manga. Mello and Near, but particularly Mello are way better in the original source. The anime is faithful for sure, but the second part loses its pacing and these two suffer for it. Near also has great development and the issue of him being an L clone is kind of "fixed" in the one-shot sequel despite appearing in only a couple pages.
the weird hair shadow makes this look like the cover of that h doujin where the trap gets picked up by the rape bus and you can see his black hair poking out from under his blonde wig
Femboy Near
When the anime was still somewhat new and I knew nothing about it but had seen pictures of Mello floating around, I assumed he was a woman and I immediately went to fapping because of how sexy I thought the design was. Nowadays I don't like him anymore.
The first half or 2/3rds of Death Note felt fairly grounded in reality if you could excuse the silly stuff, but Near and Mello felt very "anime-ish" and are largely why people trash on the final stretch of the series, but they aren't bad characters imo, they just got introduced and mixed into a strange part of the story - being it was Light vs L for the whole series and then suddenly it's not that anymore so the series feels strange
This should be posted on Cinemaphile, but they have the worst mods on the internet who ban you literally at random so I forgive you. Better conversations here anyway
those guys are such gays. they hair-trigger ban because so many people troll them and shitpost because they're such gays.
Every single thread I've ever made on Cinemaphile has gotten me banned. I've never made a thread there and not gotten banned. It's crazy. Not even off topic threads either
a Death Note thread is as dangerous as a Jazz thread on /lgbt/
maybe because your threads were thinly veined ecchi threads
>thinly veined
Have you been there recently? There's a current show about gushing over magical girls, and it's...
I find that hard to believe. They may be stricter there than the rest of the website, but you have to be blatantly breaking the rules to get consistently banned.
So I’ve had this question forever, we know that you can’t make people kill on your behalf using the death note, but assuming you wrote both their names followed by “murder suicide” as the cause of death, why wouldn’t it be allowed given that you’re setting them both up to die? Just a loophole I was thinking of since it may have benefitted light or other users to make the deaths look like a conflict that escalated in certain circumstances.
if you wrote both names, then you are killing them both, just making it look like they killed each other, you could even make them kill themselves by assfricking at that point, the only condition is that all people that die, must have their names writen, so you cant make someone kill a person whose name is not writen
suicide is a cause of death
murder is an action
As long as you write both of their names in the note it works. Writing
>A gets shot in this place at this time
>B goes to this place at this time, shoots A and then himself
Would kill both A and B using the note. You can't, however, write that someone goes on a rampage killing people until he gets shot by the police unless you specify every single person he killed during the rampage.
troony-may
This is a bit of a long read but to any autistic posters that like discussing getting away with hypothetical crimes, this article is for you.

WOW! definitely something you need 200 iq and 50 paragraphs to explain
He's pointing out that even if you have magical powers that nobody is aware of that they can still deduce the motive.
M > L
I liked how in one of the live action films L wrote his own name in a Death Note and Light couldn't kill him after finding out his real name and if Light wrote it down too many times it would end up getting himself killed.
L was never the hero of the series, this page right here from the extra chapter reveals that he turned down several cases and just picked up the ones that picked his interests. I read this at the end of last year and it made me appreciate the series more, it made me realize that the clash between Light and L wasn't really a "good against evil" battle but more like a battle between 2 selfish geniuses just trying to prove who was the best.
>battle between 2 selfish geniuses just trying to prove who was the best.
well duh, that's kind of obvious during the main story too
L even admits he was very similar to Kira, and of course he only wanted to catch him out of spite, not because he would do good to the world, he knew damn well that kira's actions were actually reducing crime and doing more good than not, and that removing him would send the world back to how it was, but he didnt care, he needed to win because he hated losing
It can be both. L is good but also self-interested.
Of course he’s going to be self centered he was raised/groomed to be the best detective in a shady government affiliated cult/organization. It’s literally what they were groomed for.
You're still wrong. The show actually is a battle of good and evil not a battle of "2 selfish geniuses just trying to prove who was the best." It's a battle between 2 human beings each representing a different idea of justice and morality the base of which is founded on religious ideas. As is later said by Light after L dies, the stakes are so high in the hunt for Kira that whoever ends up winning will determine which idea of justice and morality wins in the world going forward. If L's side wins, then impartial justice and the rule of law continues. If Kira wins, then there is no rule of law, no due process. There is no longer any idea about redemption and reform in the legal system at any level. If you step out of the boundaries of the law in any way you are instantly killed. This was Light's end point, he reveals in the second part that soon when the world was even more accepting of Kira then even the pettiest of minor crimes would be punished with death. It's clear when you lay out the 2 sides like this that Kira is obviously evil and his plan is fricking moronic and childish with a complete lack of nuance. It's based but the world doesn't work that way. Caught stealing fruit to feed your homeless family? This is an act punishable by death in Kira's world
>L even admits he was very similar to Kira
No he doesn't, at least not in the way you're trying to argue. His self comparison to Kira begins and ends when he says that he's also childish and hates to lose. You're almost implying that if L was to pickup the notebook he would have done the same thing Light did which is a complete misunderstanding of his character. It wasn't spite that drove L, it was an intellectual contest of morals
Ken riding on Roah’s horse will never not be kino.
dead with no effort
would require a challenge but probably could be killed
Nice try but not good enough. Try again.
KINO OF THE HIGHEST ORDER
Light would beyond frickable if he were a woman
True.
there's been some recent ones where Light just looks like an absolute b***h and it does things to me
This?
IMAGINE how hairy and stinky fem-L's pussy is.
NOW i will watch your tranime goyslop
uoh
>Hey, what's your name?
>Uh... Bob Ingle
>may get a close look at your face while I write that down?
>shit bricks and run
>HEY IT HAS BEEN 40 SECONDS WHY AREN'T YOU DEAD YET?
What did they do for the five years after L died?
Did Light still make autistic challenges to the police force or did he not even bother? Five years without ANY progress into the biggest case in history is insane. What did they even do at work every day?
The japanese police stopped investigating and only the task force continued trying (which obviously didn't worked because Light was among them), the american goverment most likely made no progress because there was no way they would know Kira was still in Japan because he started making threats and killing people all across the world, even if they knew Kira was still in Japan even then there would be no way they would've know Light was the main suspect.
>the american goverment most likely made no progress
Didn't Kira openly threaten the president of the US specifically to stop looking into it or die?
If i remember correctly that only happened after the timeskip, i remember the task force watching the president's announcement on television when Light was already the new L.
>that POTUS depiction
wtf did deathnote predict trump?
It literally is President Trump.
oh, I see this is from the sequel
oh well
Yeah it went in a bold direction and actually depicted the world powers bidding for the death note as the actual ones during that time
>implying I watch trash anime
>(implying I read trash manga)
Sequel was better
SHEEEEEEEEEESH
What happens in the sequel?
He sells the death note to the us president
The good ending
kek
That's a nice break from the previous story. Does it end with him selling it or does it follow what happens?
The shingami king gets so pissed with the kid he changes the rules to make it so that if you try to sell the death note, both people involved in the transaction will die.
So the kid dies and Trump decides to just not accept the purchase and tell the world he did but he’s just not going to use it to protect the world
>Trump decides to just not accept the purchase and tell the world he did but he’s just not going to use it to protect the world
kino and amusing depiction of Trump's character
>wants to remain anonymous so he requests the money to be equally distributed to every account in a particular bank
>when he sells the note his memory gets erased and he doesn't even know that he did it
>when he mindlessly goes to the bank to withdraw his prize money like everyone else is the transaction is complete and he drops dead
Sick
didn't know Japs suffered from TDS too
>What happens in the sequel?
>10 years pass
>ryuk wants to find another smart person to give the notebook too
>gives it to that zoomer
>he doesn't want to kill
>decides to sell it to get rich
>because of light, there are cameras everywhere with everything being tracked and it's a police state
>since ryuk is invisible unless you touch the notebook, he sent him to the new station holding up a sign that kira's power was up for sale, but people like near, matsuda and such could see him
>near planned to track ryuk but ryuk just went underground back to the new kira to not be tracked
>people start putting in their bids, with countries like america and china putting in billions and billions
>as the bids came in, the shinigami king found out and was pissed so he made a new rule that if you sell the death note you die once you receive the money and if you buy it you die when you touch it
>trump wins the bid for like a couple trillion dollars, and dies when he gets the death note
>new kira's plan was to split up that money for people who fit a certain criteria being you had a certain bank, lived in tokyo and under 60 years old
>new kira goes to take out some money, dies
That guy was awesome. Zoomers, I kneel. His mistake was that he trusted the death gods. Why wouldn't you expect demons to eventually screw you over?
He doesn't bother with killing people and tries to auction the Death Note to the highest bidder. The Shinigami king's feelings get hurt.
>so smart that made king of shinigamis butthurt
zoomer Kira, i kneel
No cap?!
>Kira is evil because….he killed violent criminals, lowered crime rates by 70%, and ended all wars…
Think about those poor warmongers, theifs, and murderers feelings. Kira is so evil.
They still put people on death row or life in prison in this show. Kira was just killing them faster. Don’t know what the big deal was.
Was Kira the tax-payer's hero?
He made the world a better place. You know it would be fun to see a sequel where that gay Near and the rest of those detectives are out celebrating that they killed the big bad Kira, and then a robber comes up and shoots them. In their final moments they can all say “M-maybe Kira wasn’t so bad afterall ACK!”
>doesn't kill criminals because law and morality don't concern him
>kills welfare and innocent disability recipients
>threatens politicians to cut military spending and starts slowly picking them off one at a time
>mind controls his victims to donate their wealth
Robin Hood Kira might be kino
there was no trial to discern reasons behind any crime, there was no hope of redemption, kira just saw a crime and killed the culprit, no questions asked
he also obviously went too far when he started killing people that wasnt even criminal, just opposed him, with his mental gymnastic being "opposing kira is also a crime"
Didn’t Light talk about how he didn’t kill criminals who regretted their actions, were done accidentally, or had special circumstances?
Maybe at first but he was definitely consumed by the power and just killed criminals without much discretion.
iirc at some point he planned to start killing also people who committed petty crimes and who harrassed others, he would basically estabilish a totalitarian regime where his whims decide who lives or dies
>Literally pulling mass lists of criminal records and killing them simply because their name was put down
>Killed people who were going to catch him
>Killed based on online tipoffs (literally no evidence at that point)
The sole reason he didn't kill critics was because he wanted the public on his side.
You think he examined each individual case? He didn't give a frick. He was writing down hundreds of names a day.
gets worse when you remember japan has a 99% conviction rate
so arrest = death basically
>Killed people who were going to catch him
So he’s supposed to let people who have publicly stated they will execute him the chance to catch him?
I rewatched Death Note for the first time recently, observations:
>completely falls apart when they introduce Misa
>animation is laughably bad
>a lot more filler than I remembered
>post-L is somehow worse than I remembered
I still think that the premise and opening are great, the highlights of the series are memorable classics but this is rough.
I could just never get into anime and anime tropes fill me with disgust. I've seen that Netflix (Duffer Bros) are working on a live action TV series adaption, I hope that somebody could achieve this and trim away some of the cringe without creating something entirely different like what happened with the Netlix film adaption
Manga is way better than the anime
Has anyone ever analyzed death note as actually being about repressed trauma and alienation on Light’s part from his stressful schooling? When he has a mental breakdown twerking on L’s grave shouting about WINNING, that’s telling.
That sounds gay
Light was never once shown to be stressed by school. He was shown to be smart to the point where school was no challenge to him. This is a decidedly gay take, anon.
wow he's literally me
no it was kino
death note is gay and moronic, pretty sure the main point of the show was to bait fujoshis into reading it
if you going to write a comment like that why don't you put down shows/manga that are better.
Only thing I got a little confused on was the very end.
Near plans to replace part of Mikamis notebook with fake pages.
Light anticipates this and had him use a decoy while keeping the real one hidden.
Lights plan wouldve worked, but Mello's kidnapping of Takada caused Mikami to break his routine and go to the real note, which Near's groups was able to then take and copy completely.
But leading up to that, Near talks with Gevanni's a lot about whether he sees a shinigami or not (who they've figured out follows the death note owner) and decides to wait 24 days to make sure Gevanni isn't being controlled when he says he doesn't see one. It seems to suggest Near is anticipating this decoy to be a fake, but does nothing about it? or perhaps doesnt know its a decoy, which begs the question of why the talk of the shinigami?
There is a brief discussion at the end when NEar explains to Light, that they "needed a name" (referencing Takada) and makes it seem like Mello did the kidnapping for this purpose? There is a scene of him on the phone with the lady on Near's team, who tells Takada to go with him but then sends agents to chase after Mello (why?).
Mello doesn't know about the fake note book plan it seems. Why would he do the kidnapping? Is Near aware of the decoy before the kidnapping and if so why didn't he do anything?
>supposedly have a gorillion iq
>bite the first hook cast at you
light was a moron
everytime someone posts about how dumb/bad death note, L, or light are they always without fail are complete morons
how does every thread still have someone dumb enough to go "how did they get lind l tailor to agree to it?" some people are genuinely brain damaged man
>durp would never get caught if he just randomized the killing types and times and never gave in to bait etc
yes what an excellent story that would be
post your name and face right now and see what happens
>admits the asspulls are necessary to make the story happen
>nooo stop calling it shit the author isn’t a hack
BACK TO Cinemaphile
How would you write a more realistic and less cartoonish evil Light Yagami?
For me i would simply tone down the "god of the new world" stuff and make him have a goal of like becoming the president of Japan by subtly killing his enemies.
>a more realistic and less cartoonish evil
why
Not take the bait instantly, not kill people who got too close to knowing the truth. Keep the ego/god complex, but just not murder people doing their job.
If someone in real life started using a Death Note to play Kira, how long would it take for people to believe that magic really exists?
I honestly believe no one would make that leap that the deaths were on purpose. Even if you were only using heart attack as the cause of death like Kira was so people would know, I still don't think anyone would make that leap. It would for sure become known that heart attacks have increased but people would attribute it to other things like vaccines or whatever else trending at the time. Even if you did a big number of high profile heart attacks all at once like kill several world leaders and taylor swift, realistically people would assume it was an attack by a foreign nation or a cia job or the like. No ones going to try and argue it's actually one guy in his room doing magic spells somehow.
tldr kira irl would get away with it
I think that’s why the Lind L Tailor gambit.
It was less “let’s prove it’s magic that’s happening” and more “let’s see if we can figure out how this happens and if it happens”
Kira was never going to get away with it when the ultimate goal was becoming a visible flesh and blood god.
>800 hours in world
>just now heard of pawswap
what the frick? why did they make this so obscure?
Just rewatched death note again.
It's extremely clear on re-watch that Light Yagami killed himself.
Not because he gave himself away but because he made Misa take the "half lifespan - eye" deal twice.
Ryuk tells constantly that the original death cause will stay the same it just happens earlier.
How does Misa die? By comitting suicide because Light died.
Ryuk even laughs at light when asking him if he is sure he wants to make misa take the deal again and that he might regret it.
It's pretty cool easter egg that the mangaka left in the anime for us to find on rewatches.
>this is some bullshit
is it....
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/SV14Os_mOME
>L didnt even question vaxx status and assumed magic death book powers
what the frick
This show is written by midwits for midwits
The deeper layers revealed on rewatch make it so it's actually not for midwits.
Case in point
Near Chads rise up
He cheated
>Y-You cheated!
You sound like Light did when Near pwned him.
Okay near you solved the mystery on who Kira is and how to beat him.
Could you also solve the matter of crime and how to keep it at the prosperous level it is now or at least keep it from becoming the sordid state it was before Kira took over?
No one likes this 4'11 midget, not even the author
if i found a death note, i doubt i would ever write more then 1 name on it during my life
Even if the eyes worked on Cinemaphile users?
>take the eyes just to expose tel aviv enthusiasts
>Deathnote
>Monster
>Legend of the Galactic Heroes
the trifecta of overrated shit
Monster, absolutely
Deathnote, arguably
LotGH, Frick off
>Monster
I have barely ever heard anybody mention it, just because you saw some redditor or youtuber over-analyze it it doesn't mean it's overrated
Death Note became shit after that moment. But Ill admit, the first 2 episodes were kino
