Nibba, you gays. Julia Roberts was the hottest actress in the 90-00s
You think Keanu could even be serviceable? Much less come close to Jeffrey Combs' performance? If we're going with meme actors, Nic Cage could at least conceivably fit the bill.
I think for faceless, depressed weirdo, yes. Cage obviously works as well. I didn't think of him because with a friend we have a 200 char list fancast and we have Cage as Cletus Kassidy instead.
I dunno man. Depressed weirdo, sure, but Question is also what I'd call quietly unhinged. I just don't see Keanu believably delivering lines like that. The closest I've seen his demeanor get to that is shock and disbelief (Matrix, Point Break, and (god help us) Chain Reaction). I can't think of a time he's really played somebody with a screw loose, I suspect partly because it's not in his wheelhouse.
Come to think of it, Malkovich might knock it out of the park.
I'm happy to hear a counterargument, but right now I'm almost surprised at how much I'm willing to die on this hill. Keanu Reeves, honestly.
Excuse you, Malkovich should be playing red scull.

Actors aren't like console exclusives, zoomie.
Yes. Both Superman and Batman TAS are literally the quintessential depiction of everything DCAU should be. As such, they are superior on virtually everything to all other depictions. Even TJL is far better than everything since.
>Any other animated shows like this?
Check out Big O. Made by japs that animated these 90s DC cartoons then felt like they could make more similar stuff. Ironicaly enough Japan hated it but USA loved it and ordered more episodes.
The intro of this show is fantastic. I still watch it on youtube every once in a while when I'm in a shitty mood and need to get cheered up. Works like a charm.
Mongul would've been such a better choice to introduce the larger DC Universe. So many things you can do with War World with a perfect relative strength level to Superman.
I watched the first two seasons when they were new, which would have been when I myself was the same age as the other characters. I remember liking it although I remember S2 being a stepdown from 1. A few years back I watched a bit of S3 and a few clips of S4 (the show being revived and the characters now adults) and found it lacking, with my understanding being the consensus at least by anons over at Cinemaphile being it gets worse as time goes on. The show falling apart as it gets too many characters and too many stories that are not connected - with the team dynamic not being present. It's probably one of those shows where although having 'mature' writing in mind, you probably only click if you are the right age. I imagine if adult me tried to watch the first 2 seasons I could maybe recognise it as good but would not have it click.

The best thing to come out of that show is sunsetriders7.
Season one ain't bad although it is primarily about teen heroes being teens with all their relationship drama and shit.
Season two is odd because they suddenly do a huge timeskip, expand the character roster exponentially and start referencing a ton of history and events pulled from the comics that just happened in the show's universe off screen. It's probably pretty hard to follow if you haven't read comics.
The newer seasons they made recently are woke to the max.
>What does this mean
The show goes full leftypol. The gay black Aqualad can't simply be a gay character, we have to see him kiss another dude in full close up. There's a Muslim heroine in a hijab, and just generally tons more various liberal shit sprinkled in
>There's a Muslim heroine in a hijab
Not ONLY is she a Muslim heroine in a hijab, she's basically a robot stuck in a meat corpse suit who refuses gendered pronous because it's a robot and that wouldn't be accurate... buuuut still gonna wear the hijab for reasons, okay?!
>adult >watching cartoons meant for children
And these cartoons were literally made for children. This isn't Akira level of animation we are talking about.
Why does DC hate Clancy so much? He is objectively THE definitive voice of Luther and yet he hasn't voiced him in over a decade. He is to Luther what Hamill is to joker
Why is DCAU Supes so pathetically weak? I know there's more to the character than just power levels but I turned on a random episode of Justice League and it had superman taking damage from a missile and I got autistically upset over it and turned it off
It would be like getting punched by a child. In essence not anything serious, but it would still rock you to some extent.
Also, Superman is weak to certain forms of nuclear energy and can be overwhelmed.
When he got hit by a nuke he had to recharge by absorbing solar energy.
I would guess it was the combination of 1) he could resolve everything himself, and 2) keep the setting relatively 'grounded' as if you make him more powerful then what can harm him has to become even greater itself.
Because he is pathetically weak in the majority of his iterations. All the wanking comes from taking a handful of feats from the ENTIRE comicbook line which spans nearly a century, each of which are all basically completely different characters.
Even his weakest (modern) iteration can bench press the weight of the Earth for days on end before breaking a single sweat.
That doesn't mean he can't be taken down by magic, the right tech or just a stronger opponent like Doomsday.
Bruce Timm and Paul Dini are both Batgays through and through. They didn't know how to deal with Superman's powers from a story standpoint, because generally speaking Superman could easily solo any challenge they could create. Comic book Supes could absolutely body any JLU animated series threat.
Wish there was more stuff with Spectre and Phantom Stranger. Both seem like they could have a kino episodic animated miniseries.
Anonymous
The Phantom Stranger appeared in the Swamp Thing live action show, which wasn't half bad, but it naturally had to get cancelled because of the Warner curse.
I share your sentiment though, there's a paranormal corner of the DC universe that hasn't been explored much in animation or tv.
>in the same way Doctor Fate in the DCEU was.
Same was true for that Black Adam film. Just if it comes to punching the character is supposed to be on a level comparable to the likes of Superman, and you add onto that him having magic that is effectively reality warping and he makes Superman no longer look OP.
So many of the magic characters either got one episode or never used. There's a whole other show they could've been doing based around the sanctum of Dr. Fate.
They should have done a show in the manner of Shadowpact, Sentinels of Magic (cringy name) and what the comics later did with Justice Leage Dark (also moronic name - Justice League Arcane is less edgy). Have the group led by Zatanna, and throw in a variety of other magic characters - I vaguely think Blue Devil is seen in the background of JLU. Doctor Fate is, or at least should be, too cosmic focused and in a different league; if he is going to appear it should be as a recurring character.
Hal Jordan who went insane following some bad events in his life and syphoned all the power from the central Lantern battery and went on to kill a bunch of people and nearly destroy the JL.
It's basically WandaVision.
It's funny, WB could've had their Wandavision (arguably a better version of it) but their utter incompetence ruined any live action project that wasn't Batman.

Justice League/Unlimited was a lot more woke than people realize it. >Excerpts from the Justice League Panel at the 2001 San Diego Comic Con: >Bruce Timm: He’s the most controversial character so far from what we’ve been gathering on the Internet. When the show’s lineup was first announced, there were a lot of people saying, “Why aren’t they using Hal Jordan? No, it’s got to be Guy Gardner. We felt that the show is going to be seen worldwide and I think having a member of the Justice League who is not just “Mr. White Bread” is a good thing.

The series isn't half bad. My only issue with it was that they went 3D instead of 2D. A Bruce Timm Hal series would've been kino.
That's just plot induced stupidity, like Hal punching zombie-Spectre's jaw off (why would the Spectre become a zombie in the first place?)
In reality the only JL member who can match him is Dr Fate and even he has admitted he's inferior.
Both Superman and Flash got nerfed hard in DCAU because they could solve everything themselves. Each character got one fight where they reach near comic canon power levels.
Superman
Just be nice to Huntress and she will probably fall in love with you considering that basically works for the super autistic weirdo that is The Question.
DCEU would have been saved if they put Paul Dini in charge as overall creative director. You know, the guy who made quality award winning DC content for 20 years?
They don't care about him. Rocksteady kicked him to the curve after Arkham City and then churned out the slop of Arkham Knight's script, so what chance do you think WB would respect the guy?
Regardless of who they got overseeing it, the DCEU was doomed to fail as Warner Bros. was not going to wait for the work that was required to reach the level the MCU was on. Even if WB gradually built up their shared universe, the entire effort probably gets fricked over to some extent by the MCU imploding. WB would probably have been best served by not even trying to do a shared universe, rather they should have done standalones.
>WW and Batman is a good one too.
Wrong. That shit was so forced. The only one initiating any romantic intentions was Diana. The entire relationship is written like a fanfiction
Hawkgirl and Hawkman have literally the perfect relationship so the fact that they matched them with different people always bothered me. John was just more popular I guess.

I always found Hal kind of boring so John being picked didn't bother me. For what it's worth, he's better in the DCAU than he is in the comics.
But Hal's appeal are the stories that he's associated with. Kyle might've been interesting but I don't think he fit the show.

I'm talking about John, not the Lanterns in general. And I wouldn't say their portrayal was shit but that corner of the universe definitely took a back seat in favor of other characters.
The Lantern Core is one of those things that should have its own show since it's essentially a different JL in itself.

It's not. Hal was in the Air Force, still the most aloof member of the team. The DCAU's take on the GLC is dogshit because they go out of their to make it the most boring power ever despite it being a weapon based on creativity.

Yeah but Hal isn't an architect on top of that, he's a fricking toy salesman. And the air force branch is different than marines.
Guy is comedy relief, Kyle is a tortured artist archetype/self-insert so John being more of a brooding tough guy helps set him apart imo.
I agree that the portrayal of the ring's power was limited and not very imaginative, but that almost always happens with live action/animated portrayals of the GL Corps.

I wasn't sure if this was a conscious choice until the episode where they reverted to kids and he was finally able to dream up creative shit. Pretty funny.
There's a short comic series that's in that vein. Kind of a period piece, you might like it.
It's been a while since I've watched the show, but that episode where he helped the JL defeat Amazo was good.
>jaywalk in Gotham >take a crossbow bolt to the knee >Huntress calls you a gay for breaking the law >tfw can't stop staring at her tummy window >tfw don't bleed out because all blood is keeping me full mast >tfw die in the hospital anyway because Joker finally heard a dead baby joke and wanted to recreate it in Gotham General with a giant microwave emitter
>Lex Luthor is a man who wants humanity to ascend and evolve into a superior being >Superman is a superior being who has the humanity that Lex lacks >We have never, EVER received a depiction of that dynamic
Actually going to second this. Lex was basically the star of the whole movie. The running gag about nobody accepting the currency he printed during his presidency amused me greatly.
Gonna 3rd this. DC/WB animation has been riding an upswing again the past 5 years. League of Super Pets was actually pretty good too in spite of LGBBQ insertion.
Why do americans consistently assume any remotely tanned animated character could be black? Watching this show as a Hispanic kid, Luthor being black never even crossed my mind.
That thing only became a meme in the WB movies. The ending in the show is all about Flash dying so makes perfect sense that he goes OP. Plus it kept somewhat vague unlike the shitty movies.
Problem with comic books is that writers always find a way to take the most OP characters and have them get obliterated by [new thing] that they want you to be impressed about. They did it with Superman Prime too
>fiancee loves cartoons because women have the minds of children >never seen any of the DCAU stuff >put on Justice League >the pilot kind of sucks and it's a two parter so she got bored and disinterested in it
Such a shame
One of the issues I have with the DCEU is the aesthetic and vibe is sort of generic when compared to what the world in BTAS and STAS was like. Obviously Gotham and Metropolis are cases of the city is a character itself however, I could buy BTAS and STAS exist in the same world yet I do not easily feel that the Gotham and Metropolis from them exist in Justice League and Unlimited.
The best thing about the DCAU is bringing attention to lesser known characters. Comic readers may have know about them but, say someone like Black Canary or Martian Manhunter would be far less known.
Martian Manhunter was a prominent member of the Justice League before the show premiered. If anything, the show did him a massive disservice because all he does is job.
The point being made is that amongst non comic readers these characters became more widely known. Martian Manhunter was not comparable to how known Batman or Superman are amongst people that don't even read comics.
The point is that the show presented him to millions of viewers and presented him in such a manner that I wouldn't be surprised if it scared off potential readers. They acknowledge him but are in no rush to read his stuff because of it.
Because no one really cares about him and he's not interesting enough to shine amidst everyone else. Even his creepy pedophile niece is more popular than him.
Now this is just being silly. I hate how prominent DC tries to make Batman and I like Martian Manhunter but, let's not pretend that Batman doesn't have a innate appeal and reason for his popularity.
I think MM is more interesting than a number of characters, they just haven't always utilized him well. But he's the most versatile in terms of abilities and potentially a better Superman if he was given the chance to shine.
Newbie take. His 90s series is some of the best DC stuff. Writers have turned him into a Charles Xavier proxy with brain aneurysms because they don't know what to do with him.
that doesn't make any sense they would've had to pay him for the rights to adapt from hell and V for vendetta. Doesn't imply he already gave his blessing
>People give Superman shit for his weakness being a rare rock. Martian Manhunter's weakness is fire.
That was put on them by the Guardians (aka Hal Jordan's boss) for being too powerful. J'onn is a powerhouse.
The weakness is psychosomatic, it causes his molecules to spaz out but the fire itself can't harm him. He overcame this weakness but it ended up being a bad thing because it was revealed Martians were originally a predatory being, and he nearly killed the Justice League.
And the color yellow. Post 9/11 Frank Miller wrote a really funny story where Batman and Robin kicked the shit out of Hal Jordan by painting a room yellow.
Two different lanterns. Alan Scott Green Latnern is different to the likes of Hal and the Green Lantern Corps. Scott is basically magic, whereas the GLC is 'science'. Scott was wood, GLC yellow.
She's still weak to piercing weapons. They changed it to where it has to be a magic weapon but she's been hurt by regular bullets too. Some sort of curse.
There's been writers/editors, but I can't think of many creations aside from Kamala Khan who was created by a woman. I'm sure there's more, but they're not A-list characters.
Her and Miles Morales are probably the most popular current era Marvel characters.
But they're still not nearly as popular as the classic characters.
Even in the live action realm, Mrs. Marvel's show was the least watched on D+.
DCAU is the best period.

Keanu Question x Beckinsale Huntress nao.
NAO!
GYIVE DIS MAHN HIS SYREEEUMMMS
Why do you keep bringing up Marvel characters like their casting would exclude that of DC characters?
>Willem Dafoe played Green Goblin(Spider-Man to Spider-Man No Way Home) and Vulko(Aquaman & Justice League)
>Krasinski played Mr Fantastic(Dr Strange Multiverse of Madness) and Superman(League of Super Pets)
Actors aren't like console exclusives, zoomie.
Yes. Both Superman and Batman TAS are literally the quintessential depiction of everything DCAU should be. As such, they are superior on virtually everything to all other depictions. Even TJL is far better than everything since.
Thread theme
It's crazy how millennials grew up on this and then enter the industry and make the worst animated shit imaginable.
Any other animated shows like this? I was looking at Transformers shows but they're so childish with ugly animation.
>Any other animated shows like this?
Check out Big O. Made by japs that animated these 90s DC cartoons then felt like they could make more similar stuff. Ironicaly enough Japan hated it but USA loved it and ordered more episodes.
A lot of the people who worked on BTAS also worked on HBO Spawn
I'd actually recommend the Men in Black cartoon, if you can find it.
The intro of this show is fantastic. I still watch it on youtube every once in a while when I'm in a shitty mood and need to get cheered up. Works like a charm.
When I need to get hyped up I listen to the theme from Real Adventures of Johnny Quest
Beast Wars is good instead of Transformers. Fairly mature cartoon. Also Teen Titans if you haven't watched it.
>the Men in Black cartoon
This. And the Godzilla one, too. Same studio
kino voice
I see zero reason that Clancy Brown can't just play the live action Lex.
?feature=shared
anons....
Mongul would've been such a better choice to introduce the larger DC Universe. So many things you can do with War World with a perfect relative strength level to Superman.
For me it is Question.
me too
he's unironically and unequivocally me
>President. Do you know how much power I'd have to give up to be President?
Best Joker
Hi, Mark. I completely agree. Nicholson comes close though.
I really enjoyed his send-off in Batman Beyond
?si=lR7Ghu9LYBO2KUo0
John DiMaggio was the best Joker.
He was good. Maybe even great. But Mark is GREATEST OF ALL TIME
Is Young Justice League dookey? I watched 2 episodes and the main cast are already annoying me.
The newer seasons they made recently are woke to the max.
>woke to the max
What does this mean
>What does this mean
The show goes full leftypol. The gay black Aqualad can't simply be a gay character, we have to see him kiss another dude in full close up. There's a Muslim heroine in a hijab, and just generally tons more various liberal shit sprinkled in
>There's a Muslim heroine in a hijab
Not ONLY is she a Muslim heroine in a hijab, she's basically a robot stuck in a meat corpse suit who refuses gendered pronous because it's a robot and that wouldn't be accurate... buuuut still gonna wear the hijab for reasons, okay?!
don't forget that the hijab girl is also supposed to be non-binary
a shittier version of teen titans
I thought he was too much of a Chad to be Lex.
For human standards, he's second only to Batman in terms of Chad status. But he's also more insecure than a high school girl.
>adult
>watching cartoons meant for children
And these cartoons were literally made for children. This isn't Akira level of animation we are talking about.
Akira is for kids too. Those are the best years to experience kino, later on you become jaded and it isn't the same.
If I would say anything, that akira was meant for teens. Same for Eva. American cartoons like superman and the clone wars are meant for 8 year olds.
>tfw saw Robocop unedited when I was 6
Definitely wasn't ready but it is one of my favorite movies
Btw the bad guy is bald because...he just is okay? Everybody knows bald is bad!
Lex with hair is lame and unthreatening. Only Gene Hackman pulled it off because it was a more hammy portrayal.
MARTIAN MANHUNTER IS BALD AND HE'S A GOOD GUY!
Why does DC hate Clancy so much? He is objectively THE definitive voice of Luther and yet he hasn't voiced him in over a decade. He is to Luther what Hamill is to joker
Shame.
How is Lex Luthor even a real villain to the most powerful creature in the universe? He's just a fricking bald guy. What a joke.
Because homosexual sapiens are superior.
wtf is superman doing to batman's hand?
He's GREEK, not black.
capeshit is so much better in cartoon form
Why is DCAU Supes so pathetically weak? I know there's more to the character than just power levels but I turned on a random episode of Justice League and it had superman taking damage from a missile and I got autistically upset over it and turned it off
It would be like getting punched by a child. In essence not anything serious, but it would still rock you to some extent.
Also, Superman is weak to certain forms of nuclear energy and can be overwhelmed.
When he got hit by a nuke he had to recharge by absorbing solar energy.
Didn't really like Supes depiction in this comic, but this scene was genuine kino
That doesn't mean he can't be taken down by magic, the right tech or just a stronger opponent like Doomsday.
>weakest (modern) iteration
Except that's not his weakest iteration.
Yeah, Golden Age Superman is weaker. Silver Age Superman was moronicly strong though, to the point where it became bad writing.
Silver Age wasn't consistent either. It varied to a laughable extent.
Well yeah, they went full toon power at that point. But this is too much.
Yeah I added modern for that reason. He was stronger back when this show was airing.
The writers were Batgays who weren't interested in writing Superman so they made him weaker in an attempt to not bore themselves writing him.
"Weak" Superman is best Superman.
You’re posting a good version of Superman, DCAU Supes was an absolute jobber who ate dirt
He was no Dean Cain, I'll tell you that much.
What does that make the comic writers then?
Modern writers are just twittergays who don't care about these characters outside of pushing their moronic message
He still had some pretty crazy feats like beating D̶r̶ ̶M̶a̶n̶h̶a̶t̶t̶a̶n̶ Captain Atom
Bruce Timm and Paul Dini are both Batgays through and through. They didn't know how to deal with Superman's powers from a story standpoint, because generally speaking Superman could easily solo any challenge they could create. Comic book Supes could absolutely body any JLU animated series threat.
>because generally speaking Superman could easily solo any challenge they could create
I'd like to see you solo this, boy scout.
Was he ever in the JL cartoon?
Nah, just some animated short that was a bonus feature for Crisis on Two Earths. I don't think he fit the show necessarily.
Wish there was more stuff with Spectre and Phantom Stranger. Both seem like they could have a kino episodic animated miniseries.
The Phantom Stranger appeared in the Swamp Thing live action show, which wasn't half bad, but it naturally had to get cancelled because of the Warner curse.
I share your sentiment though, there's a paranormal corner of the DC universe that hasn't been explored much in animation or tv.
No
A renegade or insane Spectre does not fit in with the DCEU. He would also probably be nerfed like crazy, in the same way Doctor Fate in the DCEU was.
>in the same way Doctor Fate in the DCEU was.
Fate.
I always found Fate the most interesting side-character, shame they didn't explore more of that
They should have done a show in the manner of Shadowpact, Sentinels of Magic (cringy name) and what the comics later did with Justice Leage Dark (also moronic name - Justice League Arcane is less edgy). Have the group led by Zatanna, and throw in a variety of other magic characters - I vaguely think Blue Devil is seen in the background of JLU. Doctor Fate is, or at least should be, too cosmic focused and in a different league; if he is going to appear it should be as a recurring character.
>I'd like to see you solo this, boy scout.
AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, MR. PARALLX PLEASE DON'T HURT ME!
Can I get a quick qrd on this guy.
Close but no cigar.
Hal Jordan who went insane following some bad events in his life and syphoned all the power from the central Lantern battery and went on to kill a bunch of people and nearly destroy the JL.
It's basically WandaVision.
It's funny, WB could've had their Wandavision (arguably a better version of it) but their utter incompetence ruined any live action project that wasn't Batman.
how come it's never Hal Jordan in cartoons and movies
He showed up in an episode of Unlimited as some weird alternate reality lantern then just disappeared when Green Lantern shifted to being someone else
>He showed up in an episode of Unlimited as some weird alternate reality lantern then just disappeared when Green Lantern shifted to being someone else
That's why.
>how come it's never Hal Jordan in cartoons and movies
Hal has been featured in more projects than John has.
He just wasn't as prominent in the Bruce Timm stuff.
There was a shortlived Green Lantern animated series with Hal.
The series isn't half bad. My only issue with it was that they went 3D instead of 2D. A Bruce Timm Hal series would've been kino.
>Close but no cigar.
Sinestro fears Parallax my dude. He's admitted it.
>Fear goon is afraid of fear incarnate
huh, who'd'a thunk it
God, that 70s style animated Spectre short was so fricking good.
I like the Spectre and he's the biggest jobber in the entire DC Universe. He can't even beat The Joker.
Superman
Flash
who you choose anons?
I start an underground battledome and make them fight for the right to my dick
Haven't been able to decide between Canary and Zatanna for years. Probably both at the same time.

WW is a close third
Harley because I can fix her
There is no fixing this type of woman. You pump and dump before she gets the chance to shoot you in the head.
It was always the pig-tails that I disliked about her design.
The only cure for crazy/severe mental illness is death.

I genuinely could not choose.

Zatanna will always be my DC waifu

Canary and Zatanna
If I want to take over the world
WW and Zatana
It's incredible how much soul is lacking in the recent DCEU movies
I'm gonna say it.
DCEU would have been saved if they put Paul Dini in charge as overall creative director. You know, the guy who made quality award winning DC content for 20 years?
They don't care about him. Rocksteady kicked him to the curve after Arkham City and then churned out the slop of Arkham Knight's script, so what chance do you think WB would respect the guy?
>kicked him to the curve
Curb, Ricky. The saying is "Kicked her/him/them to the curb".
Apologies. Speech to text can be fickle.
>President!?
>Do you know how much power I would have to give up to be president!?
>The Amazo episode where lex saves the world
Yes it was
I loved their relationship.
Agreed. WW and Batman is a good one too. It was all simmering underneath.
>WW and Batman is a good one too.
Wrong. That shit was so forced. The only one initiating any romantic intentions was Diana. The entire relationship is written like a fanfiction
>That shit was so forced
Yeah. By Diana. B Man tried to keep things professional.
>WW and Batman is a good one too
It's as good as Black Green Lantern and Hawkgirl.
Hawkgirl and Hawkman have literally the perfect relationship so the fact that they matched them with different people always bothered me. John was just more popular I guess.
The whole reincarnation/soulmate lore might've been too odd for such a show.
>The whole reincarnation/soulmate lore might've been too odd for such a show.
most ridiculous statement of the week
>John was just more popular I guess.
Justice League/Unlimited was a lot more woke than people realize it.
>Excerpts from the Justice League Panel at the 2001 San Diego Comic Con:
>Bruce Timm: He’s the most controversial character so far from what we’ve been gathering on the Internet. When the show’s lineup was first announced, there were a lot of people saying, “Why aren’t they using Hal Jordan? No, it’s got to be Guy Gardner. No, it’s got to be Kyle Rayner.” Obviously, we picked the wrong one, but the reason we did choose John Stewart are various—I think they’re all valid. Right off the bat, I’ll just say it: you know we did need ethnic diversity in the Justice League. We felt that the show is going to be seen worldwide and I think having a member of the Justice League who is not just “Mr. White Bread” is a good thing.
The GL/Hawkgirl romance happened because John Stewart had nothing going on for him and neither did Hawkgirl so Dwayne McDuffie pushed for it and Bruce Timm, being a fan of cuckoldry, greenlit it.
I always found Hal kind of boring so John being picked didn't bother me. For what it's worth, he's better in the DCAU than he is in the comics.
But Hal's appeal are the stories that he's associated with. Kyle might've been interesting but I don't think he fit the show.
>or what it's worth, he's better in the DCAU than he is in the comics.
Lmao are you serious? John was absolute dogshit. The DCAU portrayal of the Green Lanterns is one of the worst things about the show.
I'm talking about John, not the Lanterns in general. And I wouldn't say their portrayal was shit but that corner of the universe definitely took a back seat in favor of other characters.
The Lantern Core is one of those things that should have its own show since it's essentially a different JL in itself.
>I'm talking about John, not the Lanterns in general.
Have you ever read GL: Mosaic? John was an aloof guy who could actually chill out and laugh. DCAU John is nothing like that.
I have. GL: Mosaic is John's most famous story.
>John was an aloof guy who could actually chill out and laugh
Don't care for such a John tbh. DCAU remains my preferred version. But he's also not my favorite Lantern so it's like whatever.
>DCAU remains my preferred version.
Sorry about your shit taste tbh.
They can all chill out and be aloof. John being a more stern guy is not an issue for me. As an architect and ex-military, it's befitting that he'd be a more calculating stoic Lantern.
John wasn't military until the show, he was an architect.
Yes but he's military in the show and such a characterization was therefore befitting.
When he couldn't use his ring in WWII and had to fall back on his marine training was kino
>and such a characterization was therefore befitting.
Redpill me on Kyle
Hapa weeb momma's boy who found his girlfriend dead in the fridge one day. Was the Lantern replacement in the 90s along with Wally West for the Flash, but he never struck a cord with readers the same way Wally did, hence him being considered the best Flash to this day.
Most imaginative Lantern by a long-shot but usually plays second fiddle to Hal because writers like him more.
He was the sole lantern of the mid-90s but because he had no lantern corps to work with and was seen as the newbie lantern. It wasn't until the resurrection of the corps that he found his footing.
>so John being more of a brooding tough guy helps set him apart imo.
It doesn't. Dude has been a brooding tough guy for years after the show ended and he's the worst member of the team because of it. Everyone has something going for them, but John is being black and sad.
the only time they really acknowledge the versatility of the latern is when the JL also turns into kids because of lefay and john realized he had mroe imagination as a kid
Jordan's a hot shot fighter pilot. Stewart's a by the books grunt.
The DCAU was one of the worst things to happen to the GLC because DC keeps pushing John Stewart down the readers throats.
>John Stewart
I always liked how he had zero imagination so all his green Lantern constructs were just force blasts or blunt instruments.
I wasn't sure if this was a conscious choice until the episode where they reverted to kids and he was finally able to dream up creative shit. Pretty funny.
Wow, Question is just like me frfr. Except without the gf.
>she shoves the files directly into her sweaty pussy
BRUCE YOU MAGNIFICENT BASTARD
does that homie even have superpowers?
He's literally just a detective with a fancy mask
If I had a nickel every time this happened
They missed out on not making more noir episodes with J'onn.
There's a short comic series that's in that vein. Kind of a period piece, you might like it.
It's been a while since I've watched the show, but that episode where he helped the JL defeat Amazo was good.
>jaywalk in Gotham

>Superman is a superior being who has the humanity that Lex lacks
>We have never, EVER received a depiction of that dynamic
>If you wanted to, Luthor, you could have saved the world years ago.
Jeffery Combs is a treasure
Unironically you should watch Scooby-Doo and Krypto Too (2023). Peak Lex Luthor here
Haven't seen that one but Batman vs TMNT was better than I expected
Actually going to second this. Lex was basically the star of the whole movie. The running gag about nobody accepting the currency he printed during his presidency amused me greatly.
Gonna 3rd this. DC/WB animation has been riding an upswing again the past 5 years. League of Super Pets was actually pretty good too in spite of LGBBQ insertion.

>Remember, there might be some momentary discomfort.
justice league? yeah it's the best capeshit adaptation.
Was Crisis on two Earths the last good animated movie from DC?
The first part of Crisis on Infinite Earths is out but I haven't seen it yet. Could potentially be decent.
>the cartoon is the best version
why is he black?
too much tanning
>that episode where him and Flash switched bodies
>aren't you gonna wash your hands?

Why do americans consistently assume any remotely tanned animated character could be black? Watching this show as a Hispanic kid, Luthor being black never even crossed my mind.
>supercuck fans seething
KEK
Superman was clapping Wonder Woman's cheeks at this time btw
...While Superman's mom was getting her cheeks clapped by Lobo and his father watched.
I like how the ending of Unlimited just played into how ridiculous Flash's Meme Force is
That thing only became a meme in the WB movies. The ending in the show is all about Flash dying so makes perfect sense that he goes OP. Plus it kept somewhat vague unlike the shitty movies.
I'm not a comic book person or know lore but I always remembered Superman Prime was OP as shit.
Problem with comic books is that writers always find a way to take the most OP characters and have them get obliterated by [new thing] that they want you to be impressed about. They did it with Superman Prime too
>tfw Ebenezer Scrooge defeats a god
>fiancee loves cartoons because women have the minds of children

Such a shame
Would you rule earth with her?
For me its the doomed patrol
Probably the best campy superhero show ever made. 60s Batman is just below.
It maybe camp like 90% of the show but the sad episodes are something else
are crop circles really caused by the girl scouts?
Titus Welliver(?) was pretty cool as Lex in TITANS
He called Nightwing "Richard". Made me lol.
Anyone got the webm or gif of animated Hal getting his ass beat by some villains in a comical fashion?
One of the issues I have with the DCEU is the aesthetic and vibe is sort of generic when compared to what the world in BTAS and STAS was like. Obviously Gotham and Metropolis are cases of the city is a character itself however, I could buy BTAS and STAS exist in the same world yet I do not easily feel that the Gotham and Metropolis from them exist in Justice League and Unlimited.
*DCAU
I never liked the aesthetic of the DCAU everyone has massive shoulders
Why did the DCAU end when it did? No stories to tell? Main characters aging? Creatives moving onto other things? Bad viewership?
Even his creepy pedophile niece is more popular than him.
>and he's not interesting enough to shine amidst everyone else
Neither is Batman, but that didn't stop DC from pushing him.
Now this is just being silly. I hate how prominent DC tries to make Batman and I like Martian Manhunter but, let's not pretend that Batman doesn't have a innate appeal and reason for his popularity.
>generic as it comes street level vigilante < last man of the Martian race
Batman gets overhyped because of the self-inserting aspects and the movies.
Batman is everything little boys think are cool
>playboy
>billionaire
>detective
>martial artist
>ninja
I larp as Alfred
Because Batman is by far the popular DC character. That isn't even debatable. Martian Manhunter is a D-Lister.
Tfw no Plastic Man in the DCAU.
too strong please understand
Plastic Man never appeared (though is named dropped) as a Plastic Man show was being considered / worked on.

also the only adaptation of his work that alan moore actually liked
Isn't that because they asked him if he was okay with them adapting his work whereas no one else has asked him?
that doesn't make any sense they would've had to pay him for the rights to adapt from hell and V for vendetta. Doesn't imply he already gave his blessing
People give Superman shit for his weakness being a rare rock. Martian Manhunter's weakness is fire.
The golden age green lantern weakness is wood
And the color yellow. Post 9/11 Frank Miller wrote a really funny story where Batman and Robin kicked the shit out of Hal Jordan by painting a room yellow.
Two different lanterns. Alan Scott Green Latnern is different to the likes of Hal and the Green Lantern Corps. Scott is basically magic, whereas the GLC is 'science'. Scott was wood, GLC yellow.
I guess Hal is silver age so you're right. Still a silly original weakness though, it's better that they parted with that.
Didn't they retcon that by saying Scott was nervous in an encounter and afterwards
tricked himself into thinking wood was a weakness?
Wonder Woman's weakness used to be getting her wrists bound together by a man.
She's still weak to piercing weapons. They changed it to where it has to be a magic weapon but she's been hurt by regular bullets too. Some sort of curse.
Still is. Amazons just want that human dick too badly and it ends up becoming their weakness.
I love that a feminist icon comes from a man into BDSM.
Frank Miller's take on Wonder Woman is so over the top it basically became an insult to feminists. It's pretty funny.
This entire series crossed the rubicon from cringe to kino just for how insanely hyperbolic everything was, it's like a fever dream.
duck dodgers has the best animated green lantern portrayal
Are there any big creative names in DC or Marvel that are women? And by big I mean created popular characters, iconography, stories etc.
There's been writers/editors, but I can't think of many creations aside from Kamala Khan who was created by a woman. I'm sure there's more, but they're not A-list characters.
>Kamala Khan
Is she genuinely popular?
Her and Miles Morales are probably the most popular current era Marvel characters.
But they're still not nearly as popular as the classic characters.
Even in the live action realm, Mrs. Marvel's show was the least watched on D+.
LOL.
Miles Morales needs constant reboots and is constantly outsold by Peter Parker.
Her original mini-series was ok-ish and she's been riding those coattails ever since. She has a following but I wouldn't say she's popular.
Carol Danvers is more popular, both in the pre-woke era and now.
Nope. Her series has been cancelled and rebooted multiple times to give the impression that she's popular enough to have survived this long.
Gail Simone has created a bunch of F-list characters who no one remembers.
