They really aren't. Film was at his lowest, when his mom died and when he had visions of his pregnant wife's death. Heroic Anakin is still in the films, but sparingly. It is evident if you watch the movie. Lucas said it himself, and Lucas was responsible for both. You didn't seem to understand the character of Anakin.

No contradiction there. Anakin was a Jedi Knight. Jedi Knights get Padawans. More so, Yoda gave him a Padawan specifically to teach him a lesson in letting go and helping him with his attachment issue, which is a continuation of Yoda/Anakin arc from Attack of the Clones that goes into ROTS. No contradiction here. George gave Anakin a Padawan.

There's no excusing that shit. It was stupid no matter what. It comes across as convoluted at best and it cheapens the drama. It's far better to have the hardened and trained soldiers face the difficult decision of gunning down friends and mentors who are branded traitors, because it's literally what they are meant to do. Clone Wars is fine. A lot of it is hit or miss, especially in the early seasons. It's got some cool moments and a lot of good character interactions, but man Filoni's writing just frequently feels like bad fanfiction. I thought it was really good background noise to watch while I draw. Dunno if I'd actually sit down and watch through it without doing something else though.
