Fleischer Superman is the best Superman >not too powerful >objects he lifts/moves seems to have a sense of gravity >things like electricity or exploding shell frick him up
I have no idea whether DC Universe offered them at these bitrates or if the group re-compressed them. No way to check since the DC Universe streaming service is gone.
Hopefully Warner Archive releases them onto Blu-ray eventually, I think there would be plenty of interest. I assume Fleischer Superman's public domain status is what has been holding a proper HD release back.
have there been any new film transfer releases by warner on home media recently? i thought they had given that up when popeye didnt sell like they were hoping
They released 3 volumes of Tex Avery MGM cartoons after '40s Popeye.
Apart from that it's uncertain, it seemed pretty bleak when COVID hit and a lot of staff got laid off, but apparently they did hire George Feltenstein back so who knows.
>John Byrne Superman >ideal
Yeah, maybe if you like turning a character into a milquetoast personality because they're too "iconic" to act like any sort of actual character.
>"Superman acting like a cardboard once Byrne got ahold of him isn't an actual reason to dislike Byrne Superman, chud! Quit your peer pressure!"
What the actual frick are you even on about?

Cardboard cutouts can be charming, I suppose. Not good characters, though.

Oh okay, Go read Slott, He'll tide you'll over with good characters.
DC are morons for not making a Superman animated movie in Fleischer's or, hell, doing anything with Fleischer Superman. You can make The Mad Scientist into Lex Luthor, bring back The Mechanical Monsters or the Arctic Giant. Just do something with it
>Eisner's blackface still looks expressive and human
You can really tell he was earnest in his guilt over that portrayal, especially given how quickly he dropped it when asked to. Black characters in the Golden Age were basically required to look like that, or else Southern publishers just wouldn't buy the books, right?
It's too bad he never brought Steamboat back later with an updated design.
>Fleisher's Superman is in public domain
What does that means for me?
Can I make a Fleisher's Superman horror where he kills random people like Winnie Pooh horror movie or what?
Yeah
homosexual
That isn’t Jon Kent, anon.
Fleischer Superman is the best Superman
>not too powerful
>objects he lifts/moves seems to have a sense of gravity
>things like electricity or exploding shell frick him up
A literal super man
Agreed
early superman is just inverse john carter
and thats a good thing
Can't say I see anything wrong with such a statement.
Did anyone find it?
I have some rips but they have been bitstarved to death. Still hoping to find some proper WEB-DLs someday, if they exist.
Could you upload them anyway?
Sure thing:

Neat
Thanks anon

This is the ideal duck. You may not like it, but this is what peak Duck looks like.
That looks like the work of Aardvark Ratnik
>Look mac, I'm working this side of the board, so bug off!
?t=391
lol
>can't even fly.
fleischer superman can fly though
Superman can fly because of Fleischer, son
Radio.
I love you Radio
radio is pretty legit
wish scifi radio theater didnt die out. its all mystery dinner theater bullshit now
Absolutely!
those cartoons were true art. americana at its best
Lol
This is the ideal Superman. If someone doesn't get Superman have them watch the 90s animated series.
John Byrne and Fleischer cartoon combined.
>John Byrne Superman
>ideal
Yeah, maybe if you like turning a character into a milquetoast personality because they're too "iconic" to act like any sort of actual character.
>Hurr durr Bryne bad, Because... Just because.
Everytime.
>Literally gave a specific reason
>"durr, you just hate 'im 'jus cuz'"
Why the frick are you here if you can't even read?
That wasn't a reason that was just peer pressure.
>"Superman acting like a cardboard once Byrne got ahold of him isn't an actual reason to dislike Byrne Superman, chud! Quit your peer pressure!"

What you on about?
He was charming.

Oh okay, Go read Slott, He'll tide you'll over with good characters.
He gave an actual reason.
clark you cheeky bastard
>boy scout Superman better than Max Fleischer's
No way.
DC are morons for not making a Superman animated movie in Fleischer's or, hell, doing anything with Fleischer Superman. You can make The Mad Scientist into Lex Luthor, bring back The Mechanical Monsters or the Arctic Giant. Just do something with it
Listeninf to the radio show & holy frick I'm staring to hate Jimmy Olsen, It's like he hijacks the show.
I wish we took the path of action cartoons instead of the furryshit we got stuck with.
This one is my favorite
but actually this is the ideal superman
>Less walls of text.
>Better paced.
>Better fights.
I can see how Billy outsold Clark.
>Eisner's blackface still looks expressive and human
You can really tell he was earnest in his guilt over that portrayal, especially given how quickly he dropped it when asked to. Black characters in the Golden Age were basically required to look like that, or else Southern publishers just wouldn't buy the books, right?

Drawing spooks like that was just Cartooning 101 back in the day
Somewhat
>Wayne Boring’s Superman
>Dick Sprang’s Batman
This was the peak for those characters. No one else ever came close
>Justice League
Move over, losers. Make room for genuine SOVL.
you're right, my bad
Yo based! Especially if you’re the anon who made that original thread
that was a good thread
The shorts are in public domain.
yep. the visual flair, coloring and backlighting when supes is fighting the death ray is still the coolest shit ever.
>Superman
How pathetic
Fleisher's Superman is such great material, it's unbelievable. Still the best animated adaptation of Superman.
I love how the music matches the animation
Superman TAS is better than Batman TAS but not as good as Fleischer's
also
>Fleisher's Superman is in public domain
What does that means for me?
Can I make a Fleisher's Superman horror where he kills random people like Winnie Pooh horror movie or what?
I don't like his emblem/shield design but otherwise I agree.
