This is the most forced franchise I've ever seen. Did the first one even have any fans? It feels like even to the first movie the general reaction was "it's alright I guess"
How did it spawn so many movies? It's such a big nothing
It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
it's okay to not like everything that's popular anon
first two are fantastic (especially #2), 3 and 4 less so but still good
moron take. 1 is the only decent film and that is exclusively because it was the slightest bit distinct at the time. They had some Lightening in a bottle then threw it away to become keanu's shadowrun oc wank
All the sequels are garbage
I agree with your sentiment I just think it’s cause Keanu reeves is normies favorite actor
The first was awesome because it was sort of grounded. The sequels have gotten progressively sillier until he's a superhero and the entire world is secret assassins. Still, fun to watch, eat some popcorn and not care about much
This is why I think the first and fourth one are the best, first is grounded and the fourth is entirely ridicululous. Two and three are in an odd middle ground.
>sort of grounded
Within 10 minutes of the movie, He headshots 6 trained killers like he‘s playing csgo with aimbot, immediately removing any and all tension from any other fight in the movie
within 30 minutes*
I wish the pacing was that good
I've seen one and two and the decline in quality and believability it substantial. 2 is basically capeshit and I'm sure it doesn't get any better. That's where I called it quits with this franchise.
I saw the first one in the cinema, expecting it to be some mediocre thriller. I was completely mindblown & became an immediate fan of both the franchise & Keanu Reeves. I think many had a similar reaction. I don't think it's a forced franchise. The movies are absurd but awesome

midwit
will you shut the heck up
What a moronic thing to be autistic about.
If you haven't do yourself a favor and watch Matrix Reloaded. That is peak Keanu and peak blockbuster action.
I appreciate the advice but, I mean, OBVIOUSLY ive seen Matrix Reloaded my dude
>I mean, DUDE, like, come on, dude, OBVIOUSLY I've seen all the midwitcore slop, dude, like, &
you're a normalgay
you're a normalgay trying to fit in
Im normal for having seen Matrix Reloaded? how awful, how will i ever recover from this?
i don't know, you tell me mr. genius homosexual
You fascinate me... do you really just sit alone in front of your computer trying to insult people online for no reason? Am I understanding this situation correctly? No offense, and I wish you everything well, but that seems extremely sad and pathetic...
what are you doing here oh golden lord? with thine honorable wienery crusade to promote comfy feels and nostalgia epic moments of SOVL? have a nice day
I just wanted to talk about movies but now I'm just kinda fascinated by you. What are you looking to get out of this?
i already asked you that first you fricking moron
I literally just answered in my post: I wanted to talk about movies, but now im trying to understand your psychology. Like, why would someone sit alone in front of a computer on a friday just being extremely hostile to strangers for no reason whatsoever? Is there any logical reason beyond you just being a very sad, lonely, spiteful & pathetic person? Im sincerely trying to understand
it's friday?
an unexpected surprise
i'll ask again why you think you're better than me? you're here right now too. make up your mind homosexual
>i'll ask again why you think you're better than me?
you didnt ask me that. this is the first time youre asking that
and ive never said i think im better than you
lol jesus christ dude. go to a shrink
if you'll pay for mine i'll pay for yours
now shut up and kiss me homosexual
Alright this is a waste of time. Enjoy your clearly very socially inept & presumably lonely existence
>&
low IQ
dude, go outside
you seem completely socially dysfunctional
same here
its got that balls to the wall The Raid style momentum that justifies itself purely by how fun it is to watch and anything else is bonus
Are there any franchises not like that?
hi zoomer
Hello millennial, hello my boomer, hello my rag time gal.
it's nice to read the same opinions again day after day. who cares?
>identifies the problem
>doesn't do anything to change it
>still comes here
>makes even more worthless posts
kys
i didn't make the thread, and i didn't bump it like you did
Frick are you on about Black person? The first one basically blew everyone's fricking minds, from normies to jaded nerds.
Take the most basic character and story yet provice amazing visuals.
Just turn your brain off and enjoy the theme park ride.
>Did the first one even have any fans?
You don't know what you're talking about OP. This movie launched Keanu Reeves into the territory of redditsphere. It started an entire internet meme. It was that notorious.
>Forget the sad keanu pics on Cinemaphile way before the first movie
Good old Cinemaphile forgetting the shit they create when they turn popular
It was just dumb fortnite memes
john wick is good goyslop and i'll eat it all
First one was great, surprising action lino that came out of nowhere in the era of soi movies
The sequels are shit tho, the moment they went full moron with that cringy lore and wolrd building I lost interest. And despite all sequels being like 90% action from start to finish they still somehow feel boring, cant quite put my finger on it
I prefer this as a "franchise" if they release a 3rd glld movie, 2 solid movies so far
I hate poos and I couldn't digest the first one
Third movie went all in with the backstory and worldbuilding garbage, and I was soured enough to skip 4 until a friend told me my concerns were addressed. He was right, they dialed that shit back to a minimum and had all the framework be mainly set dressing for the action setpieces. It was much more enjoyable.
Getting Donnie Yen was also the single best casting decision made in the sequels.
Yeah, i enjoyed the 4th one, but almost skipped it, because I absolutely hated 2 and 3. I'm glad I gave it a watch, but I feel like they are obviously making another one and they will return to that cringy Assassins Creed autism
>went all in with the backstory and worldbuilding garbage
can I get a qrd? This might actually give me a reason to watch the sequels, as pure action just bores me
Instead of just being a particularly good hitman working for a low rent Jersey mob boss, John was actually a Belarusian orphan trained from his youth to be an assassin, who was the top enforcer for the entire Russian mafia. Despite this, he was still posted under the Jersey scumbag, he still needed to do some "impossible task" to get out from under the guy's thumb, he still couldn't do that task alone and had to get the guy from the second movie to help him, etc etc.
Basically the more layers they peel back on John's backstory, the more incompatible it become with his station in the first movie.
Wait, the blind homie was Donnie Yen?
great detective skills. i expect no less from someone that says homie
Don't bully
I haven't seen him in anything since Ip Man decade and a half ago and he spoke perfect English in this, just didn't make the connection
ip man was 14 years ago
aka decade and a half
oh right
YOU IMPLOOOOORES ME??
the blind chink was the worst part of the movie. keanu is so old he couldn't stop wheezing or making noises and yet this daredevil copycat couldn't pick him up. his backstory feels forced plus the stupid reddit tier gags like the wireless doorbells made me hate his character even more
This is better than the wick films because hemsworth isn't slow and is built like a hammer. They're silly but don't feel cartoony like the wick films. By 2 wick just feels like a videogame.
John Wick is extremely relatable. You don't touch a man's pupperino. You kill my dog, and I'm going on a rampage to get revenge
>How did it spawn so many movies
low(ish) budget, made money
Was thinking the exact same same thing.
The 1st one was fine for what it was.
I had (too much) free time this summer so I watched 2-4.
It's step after step into idiocy hell.
And now they're making series based on it.
Just saw the fourth and it was by far the weakest of the series
It is pure kino of the highest order that filtered plenty of homosexuals like you
1 > 2=4 >>> 3
Whether you think they all suck or they're all great, this ranking is irrefutable. 1 is the best hands down, 2 and 4 both have strengths and flaws, and 3 is just moronic outside of the single fight in that hallway full of knife display cases.
3 is decent because the end of 2 bleeds immediately into 3 and also the choreographythat i know Yayan Ruhian helped with. he's one of the guys in the glass room fight at the end and from The Raid Movies and Merantau. everything else in 3 is not so good
1 is the worst.
What a horrible fricking opinion
1>4>3>2
>Stuntmasters all get their stuntmaster friends to make a movie full of action stunts they always wanted to see in movies but could never execute
>turns out to be a major success
>is pretty much the only thing with SOUL and PASSION from Hollywood these past few decades
>is a massive success
Wow what a shock and surprise
the newer movies jumped the shark so hard. the lore and plot became moronic, 4 outright forgets the suits can't stop a bullet's momentum which can still hurt, the whole war against the table thing they hinted went nowhere, we're told John is the babayaga and yet he's completely outclassed by his peers to the point that no one gives him any respect. this is also Keanu's worst acting role as he tries too hard to be cool but comes off as an autist with a taste for guns
4 just feels like it's haphazardly mashing together elements from the previous 3 movies with no real sense of direction. It sucked, and I like John Wick, even Parabellum, which gets a lot of hate on here
yeah it feels like a retread of 2 since they both have similar villains protected by the table. it also throws all the plot points of 3 like the war, the animosity between his friends and so on. I also was not a fan of how each sequel delves more and more into MCU type of humor and quips, if there's a fifth movie I'll pirate it first before I waste any more money in this garbage
>Did the first one even have any fans?
Me, the first John Wick is action kino. Saw the 2nd and 3rd and they were fun too, but the first movie is great.
God Chapter 4 was such a fricking mess
>literally spend all of like 3 minutes with John recovering in the Bowery, Fisburne's character is barely in the goddamn movie
>Osaka hotel manager given no backstory whatsoever beyond... he's John Wick's le friend
>daughter foreshadowed to have a bigger role later in the movie but is never seen again
>Charon, one of the best characters in the franchise, is killed off like 10 minutes in (not sure if this had anything to do with Riddick's death)
>John isn't even angry at Winston when he sees him again, despite the revenge angle being hyped up at the end of Parabellum, they never even fricking discuss how Winston shot him
>Caine is just a lamer, gimmickier version of the hitman from Parabellum
>stupid fricking deus ex machina where the High Table just stops caring about John entirely because of some archaic rule about a duel
>John's obviously faked "death" has zero emotional impact, Chapter 5 already in development
1>4>3>2
correct
First one was impressive despite various small flaws. The others are completely unnecessary and I do not know why normies go crazy over them. Not only did they completely remove the mystery and charm of the world by over-explaining everything (a common reddit maneuver), but they also stripped away all realism. The subway silencer scene in the second movie was where the series died, absolutely unforgivable.
>forced franchise
>posting reddit screencaps
>This is the most forced franchise I've ever seen.
As opposed to all the other propaganda movies?
the club scene was kino that people forgot how shitty the rest of the film is
i think 2 and 3 are better
>This is the most forced franchise I've ever seen
This means you never watched Saw. Congratulations! KEKE
Lel, the first John Wick was a revelation. The next three weren't nearly as special, but they were all fun. I just wish the third film hadn't happened. It should've been a trilogy that concludes with John dying after getting his revenge.
Because it's fun to watch. Also the last one was the best one.
The first one is great. It was a hyper-focused and stylish. It let its own narrowness be the subtext. It reminds me of Point Blank in that way, though they're obviously very different movies with different priorities.
Zoomers are completely starved of good action movies, so it was the best thing they ever saw.
First 3 are awesome.
They fired the og writer for the 4th one and it shows.
