I think they’re just leggings, but this style is retro. Kind of like how nylon leggings are out of style too.

Having lived through it I didn't see being intended to be scary so much as a parody of the whole era and the stupid shit people were actually into at the time.

Just like the 'muh gender' bullshit homosexuals ACTUALLY BELIEVE today, people back then ACTUALLY believed in hypnosis, memory regression, spoon bending, telepathy, past lives, and other obviously dumb shit.
Yes I know some of you Zoomers have a dotty aunt that still believes that shit, but back then it was actually taken seriously by a lot more people, or they at least weren't sure and thought it might be some kind of serious field of 'an scientific' study.

The CURRENT YEAR fad will also pass, and some of your morons will be walking about still touting your pronouns like old women do with their star signs, (which is what they used to make them feel special snowflakes in the old days, and something they could be 'experts' on without actually knowing anything). Young people will look at you with pity and confusion and they'll make movies like this about the CURRENT YEAR era that in retrospect look as primitive, weird, and moronic as this 70's shit does to you now:

Also for anyone unaware the Skeptic character is obviously James Randi, which was kinda cool and done well, but I don't know how he'd feel about this little fantasy where he's actually hypnotising people, turns out to be wrong, and drops to his knees to swear allegiance to the supernatural:

But to it's credit it feels like a fair decent Twilight Zone episode along the lines of 'The Devil's Advocate'. I didn't mind it at all:

Zoomers don't realise the shit Bill Murray is doing at the start of Ghostbusters is a result of that era, (as is a lot of shit Dan Aykroyd actually believes - when he's spewing all those lines about supernatural shit, that's stuff he's actually into). Notice how much he's into the Crystal Skull shit which is featured in the intro of Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World series. Worth watching if you're interested in the dumb shit and fads from back then. There were three series in total:

It fricks up a few times by being very unsubtle and moronic with hypnosis nonsense, but the characterization of the cast was excellent.

It's a good comfy riff off of ghostwatch

Could easily make them a double feature. Something about the campfire aspect focussing on "tell" over show makes both all the better

Skeptic James Randi helps Johnny Carson debunking Uri Geller the spoon-bending gay on his show:

But this is my favourite debunk, because it also involves a Bullshido gay in his pyjamas:

the possessed girl was the only decent part of the movie, nice reference to Stanford anyway. At the time they were deep into CIA sponsored psi research
