this is truly one of the most overrated episodes of any Television show to ever exist. it doesnt even quite feel representative of the show (seasons 1-3, movie), it feels like an in-joke. yet its totally dickrode, many agreeing its the best of the show. The Secret Box, the episode previous and connected to this one, is even a better episode.
It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |

It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
Secret box has a cop out ending.
>you have to use your imagination to imagine the photos
Why didn't the writers do that, it's their fricking job.
yeah but is mayonnaise really not an instrument or is that another ~~*lie*~~ from god's chosen people
but dude its a heckin reddit episode with lots of iconic memes
Band Geeks is miles better than The Secret Box.
my favorite episode as a kid was when squidward went in the time machine
that one gave me a sense of dread

in the future everything's chrome
season 1 was the only good one
everything after that was self aware
the winner takes all
Does anyone else hate how Spongebob's cheeks are drawn from season 4 and onwards? It ruins the entire design
You're the only other person I've seen who recognizes this. They used to be drawn pointing up, now they're drawn pointing inward, which emphasizes how the writing has made him come off younger, stupider, more annoying. I literally consider the cheeks symbolic of the show's decline, it started around season 4, and they went hard into it by season 6.
i just overall dislike spongebobs design changes over the years. the season 1 design was superb, and then it gradually become more and more square and clean looking
I just realized how fricking huge his pupils are now, they need to cut them back down.
It feels fricking weird that this show has been on the air for 25 years now, I still remember watching it the night it premiered in 1999.
Season 2 is the best one. Seasons 5-8 looks like they tried to get him back to the Season 2 design but then based off Season 9+ they clearly didn't commit.
I remember one year on tumblr everyone was obsessing over it on it's anniversary date but that never really happened again. Was strange
>I'M UGLY AND I'M PROUD
>is that what he's calling it?
I like the bad breath episode best
once there was an ugly barnacle
he was so ugly that everybody died
the end
Best episode is Bubblestand
That's episode one shit or sumting cuh
In that episode you can see the animators hand when the scene cuts from spongebob spinning to squidward trying to blow a bubble.
SOUL
how the hell did you ever notice this
idk there was a weird flash of black for a microsecond and it activated my autism so I slowed the episode down to check if I was just seeing things.
All of the Squilliam episodes are god tier, I'm not going to pretend they're bad just because twitter zoomers like them.
Squilliam Fancyson was my Steam name/TF2 name. I was fairly well known on TF2's last surviving Arena_2Fort server. Ah....good times.
Shout out to my boy muai for dabbing on all the cucks on that server
my tf2 name is squidwards house lmao. havent played for a while now though. did you play much on upward coz im sure i saw a squilliam on there a couple times
It was enjoyable and I didn't even know what Superbowl was. The events leading up to Squidward getting his big break, and the insert song was great.
Prehibernation Week might be the most quotable ep
gay contrarian opinion
show could have ended here
They should’ve ended with the movie per their original plan with Stephen Hillenburg but Viacom is evil
I hate how cutesy they’ve made the art design in recent years, feels like something made for babies now.
>art design in recent years
>recent years
The episode in that picture 13 years old. I remember watching it as a kid.
Man I keep forgetting that this show has been bad for 2 decades now
The episode is even that bad, the main cast gets sent to hell:
It's the Simpsons of young millennials and zoomers. Earliest seasons are great and endlessly quotable, but today is still shambling along with older fans arguing about when it actually became shit.
It leads me to wonder, what is better for a show?
>To continue unabated and slowly change over the years, to the point it feels entirely different every decade for a new audience (Simpsons, SpongeBob)
or
>have a 5 year run, go away, and then return 10 years later in a reboot (Alvin, Scooby Doo, TMNT)
I think the second example usually does better. Even if people draw comparisons to the original/earlier versions, the show still stands on it's own as being "new." SB and Simpsons will never escape the shadow of the earlier seasons.
Definitely the latter but I hate how every series needs a fricking reboot or remake these days, feels like we’re in creative stagnation so bad.
soul vs. soulless
It's weird how modern animation like this always manages to over simplify core designs and subtle features while also over detailing minor shit that doesn't matter. It somehow manages to feel corporate and soulless while also cluttered at the same time
>time machine episode
>ripped pants episode
>sundae episode
>graveyard shift episode
smith webermanjegermanjanson episode
Some that were best than those. Also, Billy & Mandy was a better cartoon overall, for SpongeBob after Hillenburgs departure became too shitty
That 1 episode where they go to the deep dark sea was spook kino, Rock Bottom was it?
think it's been around 20 years since I've watched spongebob so don't really remember the best episodes
this was based too https://youtu.be/kKiyyh9jkPY?feature=shared
Band Geeks is just a nonstop flurry of jokes. It's a top tier episode even if it isn't your personal favorite.
Dying For Pie is my favourite episode
For me, it’s the episode where JigC visits and eats a big bowl of baskin roberts
Remember the episode where Jigward started a trust fund
Sounds like a lot of hoopla to make over a Spongebob episode right?
The shift to digital ruined cartoons
>Throughout the season's run, from 1999 to 2001, SpongeBob was animated using cel animation. The show shifted to digital ink and paint animation during its second season in 2000.
That was relatively early... it actually did well during the second and third season. It didn't go widescreen till S9.
You want to talk about overrated episodes?
>Futurama episode with Fry's Dog
>Futurama episode Luck of the Fryish
They aren't funny or clever. The only reason why anyone remembers them is because it makes people sad which is a stupid reason to love episodes of a literal comedy cartoon.
I also agree with Band Geeks episode of Spongebob. They only care about the song. The episode itself is mid.
Both of those are fairly rated.
>fairly rated
>drama episodes
>considered the best in the entire franchise
>in a animated comedy
No. You're just moronic.
>the secret box and band geeks were in the same block
Absolute kino
Squidward gets the short end of the stick so often it was nice seeing everyone come together and do something awesome for him. Plus it's got some funny lines and Sweet Victory is a great song.
I really liked the one with wormy just for the scenes where the butterfly gets a real life closeup.
Traumatized me as a kid
I've to be honest OP, thank you for calling out that overrated episode.
