This is unironically the worst movie i've ever seen, like so bad i couldn't even make it 30 minutes in without wanting to kill myself. I had to drop it.

Dont watch the rest of the trilogy then, because this, sadly, was the peak.

who?
The second one is worse.
Its very flawed but it's not that bad.
>bad direction
>bad writing
>bad pacing
>badly aged effects
they're simply not good
Eh I disagree its watchable and not irredeemable. There's an element of kino in it, moments like pic related. Also you missed to say poorly acted of all of the things to criticize this is the most apparent. Regardless I was able to enjoy.
That moment doesn't mean anything when there's nothing that makes me invested in those characters.
>you missed to say it was poorly acted
That's what I meant by the bad direction. Every single cast member of these flicks had the ability to give great performances (even Hayden). But George forgot how to make them behave and talk like real people.
hayden's performance was better than hershags imo, she was pretty flat while hayden nailed the non verbal parts
the effects will look a tad bit better in the 35mm scan

The second one doesn't have jarjar
it's the only one of the prequel trilogy that feels like a star wars movie. if they had just found a kid that could act it would have been flawless.
the movie sucks before they even get to Tattooine, before Anakin even appears. the whole script is just a incoherent shitstorm of relentless fricking nonsense
No it's awful, they should have made the sequels here and let Disney make the prequels
you two have shit taste.
imagine still seething at the prequels in a vain attempt to bring them down to the sequel's level
disney just needs to give up already, nobody cares anymore
Both trilogies are awful. People disliked the prequels before Disney thought about acquiring the franchise.
And I don't know where this idea came from that people shitting on the prequels nowadays are somehow "sequel shills". Newsflash: Disney owns all three trilogies and benefits from people shilling anything Star Wars related.
the quality of the prequels is irrelevant, what matters is that they're more popular than the sequels
disney cannot admit failure with the sequels, their shareholders would go apeshit if they did, so the have to try and pretend that they're the same level of quality as the other movies
now, most people will readily see that they're nowhere near as good as the ot, but since the prequels had such a mixed to negative reception until about 7ish years ago it's much easier for disney to keep the narrative that they were bad
them owning lucasfilm only matters in terms of profiting off of them, the bulk of money that could've been made off the prequels had already been made before the purchase, now most people still keeping up with star wars are people who'll eat up any shit that had the star wars brand on it, no matter the quality
so if people think prequels = bad then they're more inclined to believe the age old myth that disney would 'save' star wars with their trash d+ shows like mandalorian, ahsoka, and the cartoons
Eh, I don't believe that. They've been leaning hard into the prequel stuff with those shows you listed. They'll attempt to appeal to the widest audience possible, including prequel fanboys.
While I'm sure they would like more people to enjoy the sequels, it still doesn't make sense for them to sabotage the prequels in an attempt to "bring them down" to the ST's level of hate. Again, they own ALL of Star Wars, they'll find a way to benefit and capitalize on all of it.
Yeah it's awful. The next one is somehow even worse.
This is the most kino Star Wars entry. Turns some shitty fantasy space movie into a political thriller.
I love how the Jedi are shown as the glowBlack folk who do the wetwork for a corrupt republic, they steal children and force them into a cult where they cannot grow into empathetic people but into killing machines.
Then is born the messiah, the one that finds the way to balance the strict teachings of the cult with the feelings of humanity, but it is all taken away as his mentor, his brother is yet unchanging, and pushes him to embrace full anger, full sorrow, all that which makes us human at the deepest level.
>they steal children and force them into a cult
You didn't watch the films.
Qui Gon was ready to cut down whoever it may to get Anakin.
They systematically scout force sensitive people and appear before their parents to take them away into monasticism.
>they steal children and force them into a cult
Never said even once
Qui-Gon didn't kidnap Anakin
Media illiteracy
Then you missed the greatest lightsaber fight ever put to film. Which is a good thing, because frick you.
How the FRICK was Obi-Wan able to defeat Maul?
The force was with him
that's how lucas wrote it in the screenplay
He doesn’t. Maul’s pride gets the better of him
He had the high ground from a certain point of view
Maul was blinded by his rage and forgot about Qui-gon's lightsaber
maul was a minority
Why didn't Obi-Wan just stab him in the back of the head while he was mid twirl?
KIino.
OP sucks dick.
Absolute Kino.
i REALLY like the podracing. i would watch a whole movie centered around that, in the same vain as redline
Bait
Come on, come on. We're having a nice little rage party here. No need to spoil things.
fanedits fix it. Watch Hal 9000's fan edit.
Your loss.
what is the point of introducing quigon, who is a genuinely interesting character, only to kill him off in the first movie? it still doesn't make any sense to me. him getting killed by dooku would have at least made the next one more interesting
give protagonism to obi wan, for a parallel to brothers who oppose each other. It could have been better, could have had Anakin fighting with a lightsaber, maybe a red lightsaber and Qui Gon sacrificing to save both.
But Lucas also wanted Qui Gon's death to parallel the shitty Obi Wan death from A New Hope, so he had to write something with that bad acting.
It's a tragedy plot anon. Qui-gon is the only one who could have saved Anakin, because he's the only genuine mystic left in the decayed and rigid Jedi Order. Instead he dies and Obi-Wan steps up to train him even though he's in way over his head to train the chosen one.
Every time I say some shit like "meh it's not that bad" I rewatch it and realize the Podrace is the only sequence worth a shit
why would you just tell on yourself like that, admitting you've hardly seen any movies in your life?
>This is unironically the worst movie i've ever seen
lmao, it's not even the worst Star Wars movie, by a long shot
The high-water mark of movies was collectible posters from taco bell.
IQ gated
the plinkett review doesn't say EP1 was the worst movie ever made, and it was made before the sequels and doesn't take into account how much worse they are
When I watch it I only use the VHS/early DVD version with puppet Yoda. I also pretend to be a kid when I first saw it after it came out and get nostalgia and forget the RLM reviews.
Do you eat cheetos as well?

If you edit out jar jar completely. You got a decent movie there. I still wouldn't recommend the bullshit to anyone.
Make your own opinion, brainlet. Jesus, e-celebs simps are such subhuman pieces of shit.
Youtuber movie 'critics' and 'video essayists' as a cohort need to be force choked to death, resurrected, then made to work for Disney execs as servitors.
I don't think I enjoyed a single scene in this movie (podrace excepted naturally) when I watched it 6 months ago. Even Ep2 has moments. But Ep1 feels like something made by a robot or worse, by committee. Aesthetically it's the best of the three but it's just so fricking boring.
>Watch the Plinkett review, he explains why the prequel trilogy is garbage and Ep I is particularly awful.
The 6 Star Wars Films are the greatest films ever made, and you should watch the 2003 Clone Wars in between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. The Lightsaber fight between Anakin and Ventress on Yavin IV is the best.
Fricking bummer to know we'll never get something as cool as the 03 Clone Wars again. Star Wars was at its peak during that.
Might be interesting to see a review of someone who watches all of the series for the first time. Do even zoomers like sequels?
>watch the eceleb review to understand why it's bad
actually have a nice day.
watch the RLM reviews
Which one? The one where they review the Force Awakens, with Jay saying that his "hope for Star Wars has been rekindled?" Or the Plinkeet review where the Plinkett character barely even talks about the film & just talks about "ring theory?"
It is a great film. You just don't like it because you are old and it doesn't give you nostalgia.
You are either a pre-teen, you haven’t watched much or both.
This statement is moronic. There are far worse movies you simply haven’t seen them.
It's pretty bad, but Disney proved it could've been worse.
Mike > Jack > Rich > Colin > wet dogshit > Jay > bloody diarrhea > Bald Fatass
My word is fact
