People on Paradise being same Engineers from the Prometheus makes no sense.
Are you telling me that these hyper-advanced guys live in one medieval-level city, walking around in rags and farming wheat? They don't even look similar.
It's either different race, or some sort of colony where they degenerated in the last 2000 years.

                >People on Paradise being same Engineers from the Prometheus makes no sense.
David set out specifically to kill the Engineers. Remember? That's the plot of Covenant. if you're saying David made a mistake and killed the entirely wrong race of extraterrestrial sentient creatures? Jesus, he's an extreme frickup. Why do people like him so much? He's moronic. The only other explanation is what Ridley Scott explicitly stated in the movie. How about we go along with that story instead? It also makes no sense, tho. Terrible screenplay from inception.

It literally happened in Prometheus too. They thought they're going to homeworld of human creators, but LV-223 turned out to be some sort of outpost and not real homeworld of Engineers.
I can be wrong, but I think it makes more sense then engineer homeworld being at the level of iron age.
Compare the interiors of Juggernout and interiors of the buildings in Covenant. One had advanced hologram technology, and one had library full of paper scrolls.

I understand what you're saying, I understand there is head canon that people can reasonably establish, or at least come up with theories that explain loopholes. I'm fine with that, I had my own theories about the original Alien that were unfortunately btfo due to the prequels and black goo deus ex nanomachina. The thing is that you have already put more thought into the story than Ridley Scott did. It's understandable that people would not take seriously what people see on the screen in front of them because it's so stupid, and come up with theories to explain things that are already clearly presented to them in the actual film. The "Engineers" are dead. That WAS their homeworld. We know this because that's what happens in the movie. That is Ridley Scott's stated version of events, according to himself. Their affinity for wicker and burlap tunics is a stylistic choice. Visual flair. Nothing more.

And this right here proves that you have no idea what you're talking about.
Ridley Scott did not write scripts for either of the movies. He's a senile idiot who didn't actually came up with any of the story, and I don't care about his opinions.

Just really disappointing that that would be the homeworld of the supposedly super advanced creators who were alive for millions or billions of years. They should have mega cities, mega structures, crazy structures in space, multiple worlds in multiple systems. Or it should be explained in some way, and a devastating civil war between them and the xeno-engineer would sort of explain it. Or what David found was just a small colony or regressed engineers. If they want us to take it at face value, then they just earn their place as a mediocre shit film and disappointing followup to what started as an intriguing story. Doesn't help that they again setup an mysterious and interesting hook at the end of the first film, only to kill off a main character offscreen before the next film.

This is your modern opinion of an advanced species should act. The engineers are super intelligent god like being but prefer the humble life farming. Because this is spiritually enlightening.

so how did that lead to them having interstellar travel, life creation, bio-technology, or really any technology? How could they ever handle to xeno if they live like the engineers depicted in covenant?

I remember being insanely disappointed to find out the space jockey was just a tall mundane humanoid in an elaborate suit. In the original film it seemed like the Space Jockey was part of the ship itself, which helped the feeling of this great void between humanity and whatever civilisation created the ship.

This plus David was a pathological liar. He could have easily told Shawn that yeah, we are going to their homeworld to gain her trust and make her stitch him together again. In reality he read the starmaps/archives for another designated, high quality seeder world. It is not like Shawn understands the language and can really read/use the equipment. Why would David want to go to wherever the engineers are stationed as they are clearly very advanced and could kill him with their bare fists. What would the engineer military actually be capable of?

Scott fricked up on multiple fronts but the core idea of engineers being some hyper ancient, biomechanical humanoids and very distant ancestors or humans from god knows where was a way more neat idea then elephant trunk aliens as Alien 1 seemed to allude. What he also fricked up on is trying to insist that Covenant was the original world even though it goes in direct contradiction to their advanced nature. The David tricked Shaw is far more convincing, specially considering what he did to her.

They could have just hand waved it as she died in the crash and body not found. Nope, I think the material surrounding the film, like the Davids drwaing alludes to him using Shaws infertile eggs as the basis for mutating them into the xeno eggs he showed to the moron colonists. He also did multiple tier experimentation on her with different kind of parasitical infestation.

I think most of them are contrarians who worship the first movie as some sort of pinnacle of cinema.

Yea, and people with good taste in storytelling. These movies are moronic, pretentious and do their best to ruin the originals.

I don't think David wiped out the Engineers. Wasn't it confirmed that it was just one of their colony words that he nuked?

It sure looks like it, but it l's full of moronism, so who knows

No. It was never confirmed. It was Ridleygays filling in plot holes because they can't understand how the prequels could be so shit. Prequel fans are not mentally stable, they believe theories they made up in their mind are proof of something, but what actually happens in the movie doesn't count.

Prometheus should have just been Texas Chain Saw in space. A bunch of moronic humans stumble across Space Jockey's ship and it (original 1979 design, no man in suit) wakes up and freaks out about finding a bunch of stranger creatures in its home and goes apeshit on them like Leatherface did. Body horror and glimpses of the alien life cycle ensue as the humans struggle to escape the ship which is full of creepy HR Giger-inspired genetic experiments and other monstrosities.

You win. David is severely moronic and genocided a tiny colony he mistook for the Engineer homeworld. That kind of negates Fassbender's performance as he played it all wrong if that's the case. Sounds like maybe he didn't understand the story either.

It might be a bit irrelevant, but I've always wanted to see a Cosmic Horror Superman flick. I'd start it off in a very optimistic, JJ lens flare type of situation, with Superman as the top dog in Metropolis, the City of Tomorrow. And then I'd have him go to deep space for some reason, and there he'd get his shit severely pushed in. I feel that if you make even Superman feels helpless and threatened by what lurks in space, you'd really manage to sell the point. I'd probably make Brainiac the main "villain". I'd even keep him as humanoid alien, just one so detached from conventional morality that his ship, which would be the size of a planet, would be a series of horrors that Superman would have to get through before getting to Brainiac himself.

It may seem silly, but I've just always wanted to see a Cosmic Horror x Cape crossover. I first had that idea when I read that issue where Iron Man is trapped in a sattelite and his armour is dying, so he has to get out before his oxygen runs out. And while humans in power armour facing scary aliens has been done in some forms, I think someone like Superman going against the hostility of space would make for an interesting film. The old Superman Lives concept art obviously contributed to this as well.

If David killed the Engineers at the end of Covneant then how come the aliens he was engineering appeared on one of their ships in Alien? Maybe I'm misunderstanding it but it seems to me that he killed them, then the Xenomorphs as they appear in Alien came into existence later, but I don't see how a ship with an Engineer at the helm could have a cargo full of them if that was the case.

Good point. Also, if there are not more engineer planets and ships out there, then why would that city have a floating spaceship dock station?
