Out of curiosity, I watched a couple episodes back when the show was getting news coverage because of its ratings and I enjoyed it. I only started actively watching it a few months ago, when I decided I needed another show to watch recordings of while cooking and eating.

It's not that funny. Political humor in general has just devolved into maybe the same 2 jokes about "liberals don't know what a woman is amirite?" or "DRUMPF" It's fricking tiring. Late night shows in general are always hard to watch anyway, but there's like zero quality on American late night TV these days. Even Stewart on his one night a week stint is just ranting for half the episode with his weak ass "awkwaaaard" jokes that still belong in the '00s. I'm saying this unironically, but the only late night show / political late night show worth watching anymore is Oliver because I actually feel more informed after watching it and other than some cringe the jokes actually feel fun
Stewart is Patient Zero for all this shit. He's treated as some important political voice of a generation, but the second he gets blowback for a bad take he switches over to his "I'm just a silly court jester, why are you taking me seriously?" hat, but he got a lot of play because he was one of the loudest anti Bush Jr. voices back in the day.
