You have to appreciate that Monty Python was incredibly subversive comedy at the time. It subverted your expectations by being a comedy, but not actually being funny.
Monty Python was on the legitimate "phase" I ever had where I was an obsessed elitist about it then the hard reality of recognizing it fricking sucks suddenly hit and I was over it instantly.
