His name is Chuck Sneed. He used to run a brothel in the sticks, but then he went out of business and was forced to seek out his long-lost brother for support. Hijinx ensue as his past catches up to him when certain unsavory women start showing up to the Spingfield manor.
Well the original name of the series was "The Sneedsons", but they changed it after the test audience didn't pick up on the subtle nuances of the joke.
Homer made a comically bad car and then bankrupted his long-lost brother as a result. Apparently Abe Simpson was a coozehound which was the style at the time.
I like how he ends up literally homeless. As if owning a successful car company wouldn't get you job offers from other companies. Libshit writers just making episodes on how useless rich people are based on their fantasies.
so that renders him unemployable? Just ignore everything up to that point? Also making one bad car doesn't sink a company, especially since it was just a prototype.
yeah but it's still a cartoon, some exaggeration is required for comedic effect.

there's exaggeration, then there's flat out "writer's dont know what they're talking about so they slap some dumb plot which could easily be better with a few tweaks if they did a bit of research".

>cartoon plot about homer ruining his brother >it would be better if instead of ruining him he only created a minor setback in his career because that's more realistic
nobody in the audience cares about realistic representation of of car industry careers you dumb autist. this is why you could never be a writer
so that renders him unemployable? Just ignore everything up to that point? Also making one bad car doesn't sink a company, especially since it was just a prototype.
I think the Herb trusted Homer so much that he just made it go straight to production without even checking anything.
It's dumb, but I guess that's the point. Herb never had a family so the minute he had that he lovebombed them with all the unconditional love he had kept inside him his whole life.
The bubble design looks a lot more accommodating and roomy than the standard sleek edge designs in normal cars.
Also, blocking off the passengers from the front section of the car is unironically a genius idea.
It’s weird that Homer’s brother is only two episodes. Was Danny Devito really that hard to get? I mean he was main cast member in Taxi and Always Sunny which are both TV shows. I vaguely remember one of the Bongo Simpsons comic having him met Mr.Burns which sounds like it would be a great premise for an actual episode
It's pretty wild how big a star Danny Devito was back in the day. He was all over the place.
Man, TV Guide was the shit, too. Paper listings were so comfy.
The point of Herb Powell was to show how successful Homer could have been if he thought like a businessman. Homer even interacting with his brother for even a few days leans to him losing everything (kinda like Homer's Enemy).
imagine if there's new episode of rick and morty and there will be long lost Rick's brother. People would shit their pants.
or in second season of house of the dragon, there's brother of viseris and he sells carriages and he asks the monkey girl to design one, people would go bonkers
Simpsons have gone to shit but I can at least understand why someone might have the Stockholm Syndrome to be a fan and continue watching. It was simultaneously wholesome and brilliant at its peak.
South Park itself has stayed fine as what it is for the most part, but being a South Park fan is cringe because it's typically someone declaring they think ridiculing everyone is a substitute for intelligence.
>make a guy you just met the head of his car production division just because he's your brother >give him absolutely zero supervision >ignore your employees that try to warn you that it's shaping up to be a complete disaster >unveil the car without even looking at it once first >blame everything on Homer
Was I supposed to believe that it wasn't Herb's fault for being a massive moron every step of the way? I really don't understand what the point of the episode was.
>>make a guy you just met the head of his car production division just because he's your brother
This is actually more like real life than you realize. Who you know matters WAAAAY more than your qualifications. At my last job this new higher up was hired and he was goofy as frick. Just a general weird dude always wearing crazy hats which garnered him the nickname "cat in the hat". After asking around how the hell this guy got here I found out he was a close friend of the CEO. Long story short the project he was running went half a million over budget and was still a complete cluster frick even when finished. Instead of being fired he was allowed to "retire" with severance package.
>this made boomers shit their pants with excitement
When did Danny Devito start becoming a meme actor to be made a humiliation ritual of? Here as Herbert he is a rich and successful businessman who only loses his fortune out of sheer unconditional love and belief in his brother. Skinny and attractive too.
I think it’s mainly that doesn’t take him self as seriously as you seem to want him to, not that he’s suddenly a “humiliation ritual,” that’s moronic. He has always been a comedic actor doing goofy roles. Lighten up.
dude has a legitimately good character arc. he loses everything because of homer being a fricking moron, but then bounces back by inventing some baby translator thing while living with the simpsons. he also forgives homer in the end when he could have easily been spiteful, and buys everybody something nice as thanks. lots of good themes with his story
They had a perfect time to bring him back in nu-Simpsons when the family was looking for a godfather for the kids, but they have a soundalike say no on a voicemail.
i don't think about the new stuff at all. there's really no reason to let it have a spot in my head if it's just going to be me hating it. as far as I'm concerned, homer's brother had his bit in the show, and then was done. he doesn't need to exist in the simpsons universe forever
>HE CAN'T BE A SIMPSON!
YWNBAS
HE DIDN'T SAY THAT
I don't remember this character.
the guy who had a car company
He let homer design a car
Homer's long-lost brother
Pre good seasons
Homers butthole brother who ran his own company into the ground and blamed Homer for it
Zoomer.
i want what the dogs eating
His name is Chuck Sneed. He used to run a brothel in the sticks, but then he went out of business and was forced to seek out his long-lost brother for support. Hijinx ensue as his past catches up to him when certain unsavory women start showing up to the Spingfield manor.
One of my fav eps dezu
Wasn't Chuck bought out by a guy named Sneed?
That's Homer's other long-lost brother, Sneed Sneed.
So Homer's real last name is Sneed?
Well the original name of the series was "The Sneedsons", but they changed it after the test audience didn't pick up on the subtle nuances of the joke.
dude is in 2 GOAT episodes
of course you dont, he doesnt apper post season 15
>This is what you get, Homer. I forgive you. You can call me brother and I can do the same.
This used to be such a great show.
>now let's never speak again
so lame that he never came back
>I can do the same
Why would he call himself brother?
I don't remember this episode at all
Homer made a comically bad car and then bankrupted his long-lost brother as a result. Apparently Abe Simpson was a coozehound which was the style at the time.
I like how he ends up literally homeless. As if owning a successful car company wouldn't get you job offers from other companies. Libshit writers just making episodes on how useless rich people are based on their fantasies.
>a successful car company
did you miss that he ruined his company and reputation by allowing homer to make his dumb car?
so that renders him unemployable? Just ignore everything up to that point? Also making one bad car doesn't sink a company, especially since it was just a prototype.
you realize this is a cartoon right?
yes but it's based on semi-realism and everyday life.
>semi
there you go
yeah but it's still a cartoon, some exaggeration is required for comedic effect.
there's exaggeration, then there's flat out "writer's dont know what they're talking about so they slap some dumb plot which could easily be better with a few tweaks if they did a bit of research".

They were already doing poorly and was being outpaced by the Japanese. Herb was a shithead and didn't listen to anyone and that's why he failed.
those gosh dern libterds at it again
Damn. It only took you 32 years to figure that out. You're on the fast track!
Calm it down, incel.
meds.
>Old man yells at cloud
>le /misc/ boogeyman, they said
frick off
It's a good episode.
Why would you put a kids show on at 8pm when kids are all sleeping????
have a nice day. Froghomosexual.
NGL i'd buy it
how are you even meant to get in the back?
Like Batman.
By the hole on top.
LUCAS YOU HACK
Looks better than the cybertruck.
I actually have a model kit of it
post it
Why would producing 1 shitty car bankrupt them, that thing couldn't have costed more than 3-4 times the normal price in universe
I think the Herb trusted Homer so much that he just made it go straight to production without even checking anything.
It's dumb, but I guess that's the point. Herb never had a family so the minute he had that he lovebombed them with all the unconditional love he had kept inside him his whole life.
YOU’RE LOVEBOMBING ME
You couldn't afford it 🙂
It's not a Ferrari
It's still $80k, you have less than $500 in your bank account
no i don't? are you mentally ill? not worthy of your mothers love?
but io am worthy of your mothers love every time i come over
delusions of grandeur are a sign of psychopathy, i hope the meds help, or not taking them does.
Good luck.
Yes you do, you live pay check to pay check 🙂
Looks like Bulbasaur. More like Bulbous Eyesore.
Simpsons really was hilarious once
Still better than the cybertruck
The bubble design looks a lot more accommodating and roomy than the standard sleek edge designs in normal cars.
Also, blocking off the passengers from the front section of the car is unironically a genius idea.
I don't remember this episode. Are you sure it isn't post "Worst Episode Ever" where boomers were smart enough to stop watching?
honestly a very shitty character, if they did this today it would be rightfully mocked
Zoomiggers, this isn't even the only episode with this character. He came back later and built a machine that translated baby talk and got rich again.
Sneed
>Uncy Erb
Why can't americoons pronounce H?
It makes them sound like morons.

fom some point on guest-starring meant just having your uncanny-looking simpson avatar in the episode and playing yourself
Devito was in a bunch of movies around then
Not boomers you fricking moron, Gen X and Y.
It's pretty wild how big a star Danny Devito was back in the day. He was all over the place.
Man, TV Guide was the shit, too. Paper listings were so comfy.
Its amazing how a bunch of Sony VCRs and Toyota pickups made Americans lose their mind in the 80s.
Great episode, great character.
I miss buying TV Guide and going through it to mark all the movies and shows I wanted to watch!!!FACT!!!
>remember when guest voice actors played characters and not just cameoed as themselves?
The point of Herb Powell was to show how successful Homer could have been if he thought like a businessman. Homer even interacting with his brother for even a few days leans to him losing everything (kinda like Homer's Enemy).
They made advertisements like this in the gazette?
Why didn't he appear in the episode about the Simpson gene tho, he was proof that not all the men become idiots
He was the biggest idiot
God I HATE this motherfricker like you wouldn't believe
Simpsons predicted the Cybertruck
I never did figure out what hes saying when he starts crying on the stage "im in a" something
Think he said "I'm ruined"
Of course we all also remember Homer's British half-sister.
imagine if there's new episode of rick and morty and there will be long lost Rick's brother. People would shit their pants.
or in second season of house of the dragon, there's brother of viseris and he sells carriages and he asks the monkey girl to design one, people would go bonkers
>house of the dragon
Well, Viserys' brother wasn't lost but he sure gave the monke girl a mis-carriage.
There is going to be a lost brother in House of the Dragon, who is Daemon's son; Viserys II.
in hindsight, whats more cringe, being a south park fan or the simpsons fan?
boomer humor seriously cant frick off fast enough
There was a time when The Simpsons was comfy and wholesome. South Park was always meant to be edgy crap and now it's just boring.
Being a cartoon fan
Simpsons have gone to shit but I can at least understand why someone might have the Stockholm Syndrome to be a fan and continue watching. It was simultaneously wholesome and brilliant at its peak.
South Park itself has stayed fine as what it is for the most part, but being a South Park fan is cringe because it's typically someone declaring they think ridiculing everyone is a substitute for intelligence.
being you is way more cringe
I miss Phil Hartman
I fill miss Hartman full of cocaine
are there ads like this anymore? because its full of soul
>make a guy you just met the head of his car production division just because he's your brother

One of the funniest scenes in TV history.
I mainly ride in users and would love to have a separate compartment in back to ride in
I literally never realised that he was voiced by DeVito but I can still hear his voice perfectly in my head and it's freaking me out
When did Danny Devito start becoming a meme actor to be made a humiliation ritual of? Here as Herbert he is a rich and successful businessman who only loses his fortune out of sheer unconditional love and belief in his brother. Skinny and attractive too.

Yeah when are they going to make devito the leading man
kino

I hate nu Simpsons so much.
That actually was DeVito
