Also, the 'sitting in your chair rambling' thing goes all the way back to That Guy with the Glasses, who coincidentally quickly went to a 'one review a week' schedule. I really do think it's the schedule and deadlines that force them into the 'talking head' shot.
Pyro (even though he is a gay furry) still seems to put effort into his 4 hour long video essays on game lore. Most youtubers would just talk to camera, but he at least tends to dress up and do some minor set stuff.
And probably a pedo then, whoever he is. Furries are 99% pedos in my experience. Extra so if they're also trans.

Good for him. Allegations mean frick all anymore in the era of gossipy outrage clickbait drama.
Like nobody gave two shits about Jared the Completionist, but the moment there was drama to be milked, every homosexual on the internet rushed in to get a slice of that juice toxic gossip. I think the internet has feminized men too much through lack of physical confrontations.
Blame James, he doesn't like AVGN anymore and just does it because it's his main source of income. His passion was always making videos over playing video games, that's why most of his episodes had all these skits and minor "story lines" in them.
Mike wrote most of the scripts for him back then, and for a long time the slops handed him the scripts and he just acted them out in front of a camera, and then spend the next 2 weeks editting them together like a spaz. He clearly doesn't enjoy it.
Mockumentary style sitcoms started it
Large youtube channels standardized it for that platform
YouTube's algorithm drove smaller accounts to ape the larger accounts
this is why I haven't entirely given up on RLM, despite the fact that they smugly shit on people calling out woke slop for what it is. They still at least try to put some effort and creativity into their shit
It's the little things that annoy me that we dumbed down. Like I use the latest social media apps to watch videos and there is no way to control the volume or go back or forward in the video. Everything is designed for the lowest common denominator indian
Honestly though, it was a novelty to see something so strange out and outside our little bubble. It's hard to imagine now, but before the early 2000's, most people had never seen anything that wasn't on their TV or in their local movie theaters. You could buy magazines to see pictures of more niche topics, or maybe fan clubs or VHS trading, but you really were locked into your little pocket of culture.
So when Youtube started to blow up, and we could see videos from the other side of the planet in different languages, it was pretty mind blowing. The only foreign media most westerns had seen was that weird Mexican channel. Seeing weird Japanese McDonald's commercials is kinda mundane by today's standards, but back then, it felt like the world was opening up for you, and the novelty of it all was hilarious.
tl;dr you had to be there. I'd call you a Zoomer, but that video is so old and niche you're probably a fellow millennial just looking for a nostalgia thread.
>it felt like the world was opening up for you
Goddamn it really did didn’t it. The novelty of that wore off fast. I still struggle coming to terms with the fact that the internet became a corporate hellhole because it used to have so much soul
skibidi toilet is one of the few modern internet sensations that would feel right at home in the 2000's internet, gmod humor seems eternal at this point
I feel like the dissonance of modern memes is that they're all drenched in irony.
Stuff like Skibidi Toilet and gyatt ohio grimace rizz is only popular because people get a chuckle out of saying "wooooow, do kids these days really watch/say this?"
Stuff like advice animals weren't always funny but they at least had attempts at jokes behind them.
Everything post 2010 was irony laden.
I can't find the specific image, but there is a diagram floating around here with the "evolution" of image macros, using clowns. Includes motivational posters, "clowned", deep fried, etc.
Found it.
I remember the 2012 era stuff quite fondly, as that was when i started really getting into imageboards. Before that it was just looking at "fails" online.

Wojacks have been around for a decade, it's a symptom of reddit disease. Reddit never creates anything, it steals memes and then runs them into the ground by turning them into templates that are endlessly reposted and iterated on. Once reddit invaded Cinemaphile in the beginning of the '10s, and gradually replaced the original culture here, they killed the source of the memes they stole. Hence the stagnation.

I honestly don't see why it would. People who wanted to make memes could have already been making memes before the advent of ai.

The problem is that AI art came about after most effortposters left and all the tourists took over. These low quality posters mostly browse from their phones and they'd prefer to pull up a meme from a shared imgur folder or their discord channel than to create something that doesn't come with a template.

>The moment people started calling them memes was the beginning of the end
Couldn't agree more. Idiots from KnowYourMeme made everything reddit-tier shit.
Advice Dog was really a watershed moment and I didn't need hindsight to see it but with hindsight it's obvious demotivationals had the same problem:
They were all about being a macro template that one didn't need a lick of actual photoshop experience to churn out.
There's worlds of difference between the sort of poster shopping together a joke and the sort that goes I PUT TXT ON PIC.
Not just irony, most memes are used at the expanse of others / to hurt.
Back then everyone laughed at the meme "haha long cat is long", now nearly everything is "haha this is your [political] side". It's soulless.
Black person it's just War of the Servers with toilet mechs, the people making bootleg merchandise and ironically praising it have nothing to do with the videos themselves as shown by the creator continuing to do his own thing, don't pretend like it wouldn't have been huge in the mid-late 2000's.
>post-post irony slop
Is that what the 'literal' era is supposed to be? That people got so confused by ironic posting that they now have to forcefully state when something is earnest?
It’s funny because once Alphas start entering high school (five years from now), zoomers will be culturally irrelevant and remembered as a useless wet fart of a generation.
It is kinda weird when you think about it. Every generation has a unique connection to technology and (as pretentious as this sounds) how we interface with reality.
Boomers got TV and movies exploding in relevance. Gen X got cable and a move towards indie movies/sensibilities. Millennials have the the rise of the internet and the transition between old media to an ever changing internet based culture. And Zoomers have... TikTok and tablets?
I'm probably short sighted here since I don't know too many zoom-zoom's, but really, the more I think about it, they seem like a step backwards in technology, despite their devices being magnitudes more powerful in a fraction of the size.
tiktok, groupchats, ecelebs, livestreaming is pretty revolutionary tbqh. instant ersatz communities and parasocial relationships
though I would argue it's more dystopian and inhuman than what millenials had even if it's more accesible and convenient. I can't even imagine what's it like to live your life thinking subs and likes are actually real value
>livestreaming
Good post. That's really changed media in the last couple years. So they have that going for them, even if most live streaming started back with millennials anyway, it really exploded with zoomers looking to pay $5 to have their name read out. Yeah, it seems more souless, but it's something, I guess.
Shouts out JustinTV, uStream, and Stickam, btw lol
There's a reason it feels like a step back: it's because it mostly is. Tiktok is about as simplified and stripped down as you can get - you have a video that takes up your whole screen, with very limited options on the sides. The videos are fed to you through an algorithm, and you constantly swipe through videos with no thought or control. You used to have to actively seek out entertainment. Now it's drip-fed to you. This is why zoomers are also less tech-literate than millennials. Before zoomers, every generation was more tech-literate than the last. Now we are regressing. Zoomers are worse than millennials, and Gen A will be even worse. Because they don't need to do anything. You hand them a phone with Tiktok and they swipe and that's literally it. A 6 month old can use it.
Zoomers are unironically moronic. And their technology/youth culture mirror this. moronic ass backwards baby shit. Zoomers can't work a computer. Zoomers can't even work a smartphone. They all have idiot proof iPhones. They get scammed the most. They have terrible problem solving skills. They're incredibly vain and more concerned with appearances than results. If there's one generation that's going to have the biggest negative impact on the competency crisis, it's zoomers.
And I can't even blame them either. Their parents are Gen X'ers. The gaygiest generation since the Lost Gen. They nerfed their kids entire lives, and in typical gen x attitude, ignored them with their 2cool4school aloofness.
The only reason Millennials are relevant is because they are the largest living generation in America. That fact only serves to underscore how fricking impotent and useless they are. Millennials at this point are nearly all old enough to hold congressional office, yet they make up only around 10% of the US congress, despite being more than 20% of the adult population. There is a single Millennial senator, and zero Millennial state governors.
You look at who the most influential Millennials are, and they're tech bros and grifters that most people despise. There hasn't been a single Millennial writer, filmmaker, or visual artist of note.
Millennials will eventually inherit the United States simply by dint of being the largest adult demographic in the country once the Boomers finally die off, because as lame and useless as the Millennials are, Gen X and Alpha are somehow worse.
I think Millennials are as useless as the next guy, but them not being in politics isn't a completely fair argument since US policy making is still gate-kept by boomers until every single one is dead.
Anon, this "gatekeeping" only works because the Millennials are so political disengaged. They are over 20% of the voting public, if they cared they could elect a fleet of Millennials politicians this year and oust a huge chunk of the boomers. But they won't, because Millennials are spiritually broken. They have no political will, either to run for office or to vote.
Anon boomers are still the largest voting block so no, they hold the keys and they have established politicians FOR years and have engaged in non stop ladder kicking. As shit as AOC is, Nancy Pelosi was furious that she was able to slip in since their older candidate is the one they approved of and that only happened not because millennials did it but because her district is Hispanic heavy which is another obstacle boomers created for us anon. "Diversity" that keeps them in power
>>Anon boomers are still the largest voting block
No, they aren't. Millennials surpassed them a few years ago. Every single Millennial is above voting age and a majority of them are old enough to run for most public offices, yet they are severely under-represented at all levels of government.
Anonymous
Boomers haven't been the largest voting bloc since like 2019, that was when Millennials finally tipped past them as the new majority, since the oldest boomers have started to reach the end of their life expectancy.
No anon they are not. In the last election boomers were the biggest group and people aged 50 and over accounted for over half the votes
>Voters were much older, on average, than nonvoters. Adults under 50 made up 36% of voters, but 64% of nonvoters. This is very similar to the pattern seen in 2018 – although those under 50 made up a somewhat larger share of voters in 2018 (40%).
You have no idea what you are talking about.

Voting public =/= voter turnout, moron. Millennials could outvote boomers if they actually bothered to vote, but most of them don't.

Which one is more important moron? You are also ignoring the fact that those millennials include millions of imported shit skins who could care less what your average native millennial thinks. The entire Millennial cohort is over the age of 18 now, and they outnumber the Baby Boomers, ergo there are more Millennial voters than Baby Boomer voters. The issue is, as I said if you bothered to read my posts, that Millennials refuse to vote. They have the potential to easily out-vote Boomers, but they refuse to engage politically.

>ergo there are more Millennial voters than Baby Boomer voters
Your reasoning skills are barely above that of a 5th grader.
Boomers haven't been the largest voting bloc since like 2019, that was when Millennials finally tipped past them as the new majority, since the oldest boomers have started to reach the end of their life expectancy.
I am a millennial, anon. It's how I understand perfectly the malaise that affects my generation. I'm not even exempt. I struggle against an overwhelming apathy every election season. I force myself to engage with politics against my natural instinct to not care because I just want everyone over 50 to die.
boomers hoarding all the wealth they possibly can despite being on death's door (and never letting it become inheritable) combined with Gen X's general apathy to, well, everything, but especially the export of all the wealth to everywhere but here, leaves the younger generations not much to work with, it's easy to see why there's so little care in the affairs of a state that is corrupt at its core and lets this kind of thing happen, especially when most are just trying to survive at the most base level
That's the thing, Millennials have the power to change this now that they outnumber the boomers. But they won't, because they're broken. They've been infantalized into their adulthood and most of them have no political initiative.
>Millennials have the power to change this
but they don't, at least that's what they believe, the entire system is rotten to the core, no amount of entry into the system will change its ways, it's "institutional" as they say
>Everyone born after 1981 counts as a Millennial.
Goodness man, the combined assists of every person younger than 43 only amounts to 8.5% of the total. How does the Silent generation, only 10% of the population, have it better off than us. What I would like to see is the generational wealth distribution from past decades.
GenX here. Its imperative we remove the remaining millennial money from them and ensure the complete extermination of all hipsters who self describe themselves as creative and loving travel. Kill them all.
>politics instead of 15+ year old memes
If there's one thing we millennials will be known for, it's being able to de-rail any conversation into politics for no real reason.
Remember when Obama debated Romney and he told him to stop being hysterical about Russia because they have no power and are not a threat? Pepperidge Farms remembers
I think zoomers don't actually find their shit funny they feel like they need to because other zoomers do and they want to be included. So if someone posts a picture of Kurt Angle in a vacuum a zoomer will shrug their shoulders and not care but once they see other zoomers saying it's a big deal then they say it's a big deal
It was funny until the obnoxious contrarians on Cinemaphile unironically started siding with the dwarf. Every time you subversive cringegays ruin something out of principle.
Being contrarian used to be funny in small doses but it's everyone's default setting now and is overused. I remember when that last terrible Matrix movie came out, the first day people were calling it shit then slowly the "You are low IQ if you think that last Matrix movie was bad" threads started popping up. Then for a month we were swarmed with that. The threads didn't even make an argument they were just bait, insulted people and that was it.
Like this shit can be funny but it's every fricking thread now.
It's called "Contrarian Meta", it's basically when you've rotted your brain too much from chronic Cinemaphile syndrome where you have to take the opposite stance because that's what you've trained your brain to do.
I can side with the bridge troll while at the same time laughing at how the situation is addressed not with violence, but some weird little man name-dropping Dylan and quoting literature about the value of silence at the top of his lungs.
You have to understand the context. The troll is a hysterical israelite mad at the trumpet player because that building behind them is a Holocaust museum. That's the only reason why he sperged out. Because israelites are trained from birth to always exaggerate the Holocaust.
>everyone always rushed to defend the trumpet butthole >the one time he played it, it was off-key, loud af and echoing like crazy >no wonder he woke the building goblin
No it didnt. Just because its an older thing doesnt mean people back then thought it was great.
Most people looked at those commercials back then and thought they were dumb
Remember 'The Million Dollar Homepage'? Guy sold pixels to advertisers and that was it. Iir he said it was because he needed to put himself through college.

Most youtubers would just talk to camera, but he at least tends to dress up and do some minor set stuff.
>even though he is a gay furry
And probably a pedo then, whoever he is. Furries are 99% pedos in my experience. Extra so if they're also trans.
True. He somehow managed to dodge the last barrage of grooming allegations.
>The lazy youtubers trying to make money from home while ranting make lazier videos when they get enough views
Say it ain't so.
Mockumentary style sitcoms started it
Large youtube channels standardized it for that platform
YouTube's algorithm drove smaller accounts to ape the larger accounts
reality tv like survivor is what's being mocked
Lazy old frick
this is why I haven't entirely given up on RLM, despite the fact that they smugly shit on people calling out woke slop for what it is. They still at least try to put some effort and creativity into their shit
>>no "muh DMCA strikes" whining
I don't understand why people have such a problem with this? They're calling out israelitetubes gay schemes
I miss that balding orange crush shirt homie like you wouldn't believe.
Back before the brownstaining of the USA and the internet.
It's the little things that annoy me that we dumbed down. Like I use the latest social media apps to watch videos and there is no way to control the volume or go back or forward in the video. Everything is designed for the lowest common denominator indian
Use Vidlii
Ah, I miss this shit.
If this was made today people would call it AI art.
I still remember the night this was originally uploaded back in 2008
No you don't because it was uploaded on japanese's Niconico.
NO
To this day I am still on guard.
Says the homie who laughs at a head in a toilet
skibidi toilet is one of the few modern internet sensations that would feel right at home in the 2000's internet, gmod humor seems eternal at this point
I mean, the "HAAX" guy from the gmod idiot box (what was that, like 2006?) seems pretty similar.
moron
no u
ಠ_ಠ
"Clowned" always cracks me up.
Memes have really fricking stagnated though. Its been six years and we're still on basedjaks.
deep fried came and went so quickly. I kinda miss it.
One would hope that the rise in AI stuff would give way to a new generation in memery.
It has, in part... but the stuff that is most posted is still just wojak edits or pepes.
I honestly don't see why it would. People who wanted to make memes could have already been making memes before the advent of ai.
An ai isn't going to stop the flow of the spergs who mass produced low quality wojack memes
One would hope that it gives people without the skills to draw or shoop well the ability to put their creative ideas out...
But i guess not.
I'm personally a big fan of the simpsons shitposting threads that have become slightly more popular here in the past 2ish years.
The problem is that AI art came about after most effortposters left and all the tourists took over. These low quality posters mostly browse from their phones and they'd prefer to pull up a meme from a shared imgur folder or their discord channel than to create something that doesn't come with a template.
There have been some gems but it's far in between.
I remember liking old feels guy memes back in the early 2010's because it felt like this niche little ms paint drawing that kind of actually captured a real sense of ennui and melancholy. Once it became a generic "this is you" template it began to suck.
>a decade
wojack goes back more than 15 years. I remember mocking the original warm face poster on Krautchan that far back and that particular image was from Karachan before that.
there are people posting on this board that were born after wojackposting.
>there are people posting on this board that were born after wojackposting.
i swear wojak was based on some /x/ tard's drawing of an alien
>crying about Reddit when this site literally has AI generals on half the boards and the only “oc” made is Wojak edits
2015 poopoo peepee /LULZ/ was the apex of Wojak/Pepe.
>Memes have really fricking stagnated though. Its been six years and we're still on basedjaks.
I think it's zoomers. Like it's their turn to make shit but zoomers were raised on streaming and twitch chat. What is twitch chat? It's people spamming the sames hit over and over in a sea of thousands hoping you get noticed. What is happening all over this site? The same memes and threads are made over and over for months and years. That's all zoomers. They don't really create just repeat themselves and react
We also have gigachad and chudjak
That's because women won't stop crying. No need to innovate when the same old shit keeps getting responses.
if the world feels different today than it did before 2018 (or maybe it was 2016, could be misremembering) it's because Obama began funding for internet disinfo and shilling
Make 2021 and 2024 low-res.
That homosexual who commissioned 300+ of those wojacks really ruined everything.
live through all of them and 2012 was definitely the peak of ib humour.
2015 could hit gold in unheard of quantities but most of it was tryhard af compared to every style on this chart.
>image macros
The moment people started calling them memes was the beginning of the end. Remember that shitty meme pizza video? Right there was the cutoff point.
No it's not. Gmod is one thing, overdrawn ARG garbage is straight up post-post irony slop that zoomers love to slurp up and propagate.
That people got so confused by ironic posting that they now have to forcefully state when something is earnest?
ran ran RUUUUUUUU
IM RABBIN IT
So I herd u like mudkips
It was a different time
>It was a different time
1957, or 58
It’s funny because once Alphas start entering high school (five years from now), zoomers will be culturally irrelevant and remembered as a useless wet fart of a generation.
Shouts out JustinTV, uStream, and Stickam, btw lol
what would this van smell like after
Cheap perfume, hairspray
and what would the seats taste like
There's a reason it feels like a step back: it's because it mostly is.
No anon they are not. In the last election boomers were the biggest group and people aged 50 and over accounted for over half the votes
https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2023/07/12/voter-turnout-2018-2022/
>Voters were much older, on average, than nonvoters. Adults under 50 made up 36% of voters, but 64% of nonvoters. This is very similar to the pattern seen in 2018 – although those under 50 made up a somewhat larger share of voters in 2018 (40%).
You have no idea what you are talking about.
Voting public =/= voter turnout, moron. Millennials could outvote boomers if they actually bothered to vote, but most of them don't.
>Voting public =/= voter turnout
Which one is more important moron? You are also ignoring the fact that those millennials include millions of imported shit skins who could care less what your average native millennial thinks. Boomers were a mostly white and ideologically similar voting block while millennials and zoomers and not due to the unrestricted immigration imported to this country.
>The entire Millennial cohort is over the age of 18 now
So are zoomers, gen Alpha is only a few years away.
>there are more Millennial voters than Baby Boomer voters
There aren't though. I just showed you proof. You and the other moron keep playing stupid and ignore many "millennials" are imported shitskins who don't give a frick at all about this country. Typical boomer has no grasp at all about the state of this country.
>ergo there are more Millennial voters than Baby Boomer voters
Your reasoning skills are barely above that of a 5th grader.
Boomers haven't been the largest voting bloc since like 2019, that was when Millennials finally tipped past them as the new majority, since the oldest boomers have started to reach the end of their life expectancy.
i like how you critique every generation except your own. the irony is pottery
I am a millennial, anon. It's how I understand perfectly the malaise that affects my generation. I'm not even exempt. I struggle against an overwhelming apathy every election season. I force myself to engage with politics against my natural instinct to not care because I just want everyone over 50 to die.
>derails nostalgia thread into politics
gtfo
boomers hoarding all the wealth they possibly can despite being on death's door (and never letting it become inheritable) combined with Gen X's general apathy to, well, everything, but especially the export of all the wealth to everywhere but here, leaves the younger generations not much to work with, it's easy to see why there's so little care in the affairs of a state that is corrupt at its core and lets this kind of thing happen, especially when most are just trying to survive at the most base level
Have you ever heard of compound interest?
GenX here. Its imperative we remove the remaining millennial money from them and ensure the complete extermination of all hipsters who self describe themselves as creative and loving travel. Kill them all.
!!!
This still feels like a modern meme to me.
it's 12 years old now, Rustle Jimmies is 13.
I still think the "jimmies remain unrustled" meme went away too soon, and I will fricking die on this hill.
I still use "Jimmy B. Rustle" as my go-to fake name on web forms.

moshi moshi, donarudo des.
GREEN! GREEN! GREEN! GREEN!
>politics instead of 15+ year old memes
If there's one thing we millennials will be known for, it's being able to de-rail any conversation into politics for no real reason.
Zoomers brought up this generational warfare shit. Take your HRT, troony.

ITT: zoomers pretending to be oldgays from the 2007 /b/ days.
You'd have to be +30 to remember those, and I know for a fact most people on this site are between 10-24 years old.
i am 31 and very sad, please frick off
same bro
I got a book for my daughter yesterday that has a little finger puppet inside of it and immediately thought of this image.
Most shitlords here are +30 you homosexual, because most of us haven't learned to let go or find meaning in our lives. I'm 35 and miserable.
Damn, remember when /b/ was semi-usable. Before the FBI just turned it into andy sixx bot shitposting central.
>that moron who thinks shitposting has an age cutoff
First thing I'm doing at the nursing home is forming a troll posse.
we just posting old memes now okay
i have a ylyl folder from like 2009
Remember when Obama debated Romney and he told him to stop being hysterical about Russia because they have no power and are not a threat? Pepperidge Farms remembers
This would've worked better if the third panel was just McCain smiling at the viewer.

Bring Amber Lamps
Incredible that everyone was on the old white man's side. Imagine if that happened in 2020.
Imagine if you weren't a whiny homosexual
They made a movie about it with Danny Trejo as the guy. I think it even got a sequel.

I was right, it does have a sequel: 'Bad Asses'
'member when /b/ found Robot Unicorn Attack? I 'member. that shit was gay and I loved it.
I'm so excited for Harmony day
I think zoomers don't actually find their shit funny they feel like they need to because other zoomers do and they want to be included. So if someone posts a picture of Kurt Angle in a vacuum a zoomer will shrug their shoulders and not care but once they see other zoomers saying it's a big deal then they say it's a big deal
I like the trumpet fight video. I know it’s 2013, but it felt like the swan song of truly soulful internet.
I used to walk by here every day for lunch hoping to run into that guy
Dwarf was 100% in the right. Go get yourself a gig. Yep. Theres enough noise pollution as it is.
Well now I totally side with him, naziboi. And a "good goy" to you, too.
>I side with the guy that wants to control my life and make my life miserable to own da nazis
you sure showed me
>I can side with the toxic israelite
Wow so brave
>everyone always rushed to defend the trumpet butthole
>the one time he played it, it was off-key, loud af and echoing like crazy
>no wonder he woke the building goblin
sometimes /b/ would go down
and we'd all go to /x/ and start a thread with this img & they'd get mad

If youtube removed monetization for videos everything would fix itself.
When youtube transitioned from people having fun with a video camera to a money making machine it all went wrong.
No it didnt. Just because its an older thing doesnt mean people back then thought it was great.
Most people looked at those commercials back then and thought they were dumb
Yeah it did. Still does but nothing is ever as funny as the first time.
Remember 'The Million Dollar Homepage'? Guy sold pixels to advertisers and that was it. Iir he said it was because he needed to put himself through college.
