he has a lot going for him
he's got a mixture of eras (i forget who had the shoulders like that, but someone did. maybe one of the unofficial toys. the bare arms, white eyes, and red scarves are very Mirage, the maedate is totally 2003, the menpou is solid 2012, and the eye scarring ON THE MASK is just.. it's stupid and wonderful.
what I don't like is these blades. whose idea was this? he's the shredder, not the boxcutter. . he has cool blades all over the rest of him, why are the primary nekode now squared-off and retractable? meaning they're weaker and have a harder time penetrating as far...
I never really gave much thought to it, but boxcutters are sort of a villain motif in modern anime. It might have something to do with the weeaboo level of the showrunners.

mistakenly believing that the terrorists would let everyone survive caused 9/11
which is why all the subsequent security was stupid and unnecessary. as soon as the entire world is aware "you will die if you don't fight back" then they all fight back, and unless you can fill a plane with 51% terrorists, it's not happening.
this isn't b ad exactly, but it sure doesn't feel like a supershredder. i like when the mutagen has weird mystical powers in some microcontinuities.
I prefer my Super Shredders to be more grotesque to emphasize him no longer being truly human
Super Shredder should NOT look like he's just wearing a better suit of armor
Like legit its been puzzling me by all accounts he should be a silly and ridiculous concept a guy walking around in samurai armor in modern day with razor blades on his shoulders and arms and a name which evokes office work. Yet despite this he is constantly cool. Not even in comparison to the rest of his franchise just genuinely comes of as cool and threatening regardless of where he is.
i think it's a combination of a few factors >he takes himself and his work completely seriously >the armor hides enough of his face that his mugging has to be all voice and eyes, cutting down on potential 'narm.' >the particular shapes used for his armor are just fricking cool (except some versions who miss the point). He looks straight out of edgy mid-80s to 90s comics, which is what he was parodying. >he's particularly tall for a japanese guy (Except in the old movies) >he's ruthless with his minions, yet debonair enough to trick you into 'a fair fight' which he then plans to cheat in, and calls you a fool.
He's evil Batman without the bat motif and is able to beat up mutants with his bare hands. You already know that when he comes in that he's going to kick ass and look good doing it.
Which is why it was disappointing when it turned out 2003 shredder was just a mech essentially.
All those feats he performed were no longer impressive. He's just strong because he's a robot
For me it's his line to Leonardo how he's not bothered by the way Leonardo looks because he's seen a lot of things many would consider strange.
It's just a lot less cool when coming from an alien.
I was wondering if he was going to join the turtles and April.
Still wish Casey would show up..
Agree 100%

no real weeaboo pays attention to modern anime
Anon, boxcutters caused 9/11

It is better than Super-Shredder. (even tho, this isn't that bad of design)

It's kind of painful that the best new version of TMNT right now is in FRICKING FORTNITE.
Why does Shedder work?

He's an evil ninja covered in blades, you have to be doing something wrong if you manage to make that lame.
He's evil Batman without the bat motif and is able to beat up mutants with his bare hands. You already know that when he comes in that he's going to kick ass and look good doing it.

Exactly. That cheapened everything, including his decapitation.

They should have had him be the ages old immortal Shredder
It looks like it's made for overstimulated zoomers who can only find the most overwrought designs "cool"
You sound like you hate when you get everything you want cause everyone else enjoys it
Seems like it's a mix of his IDW look and the 2012 show. My only complaint is the box cutter claws, they look kind of silly.
>overwrought
This design is 1 step away from nearly every other Shredder design, and that one step is "add fornite artstyle"
