thats the point. the idea in the movie is its all meant to be ridiculous because the mom making a big deal about her lesbian daughter is ridiculous thats what the movie was about.

the bagel does have significance, in that it has "everything seasoning," but it's the inverse of the googly eye symbol in the movie

more bothersome to me is the "were just meatsacks on a floating rock" type shit they try to push in that one scene where they're stones, such lazy approach to "insightful" perspective

great movie, but it does have a slow part that goes on too long. it's so long iit could have benefitted from an interlude.

Anyone who says this movie is a 10/10 is either paid to say that or mentally moronic.

It's okay though. It's stupid ADHD garbage but not boring.

      >Father Stu > Everything Everywhere All at Once

      >Rosalind Ross directs Mark Wahlberg as Father Stuart Long, whose funny and moving religious conversion found real-life, real-cinema faith (Mel Gibson and Jacki Weaver complete the road-to-Damascus jubilation). But the Daniels team in Everything preferred cut-rate Buddhism over Christianity, wasting Michelle Yeoh in a chaotic, faithless, exhaustingly unfunny superheroine jamboree.

I hated DDL and his acting ability and I was "easily defeated" by moronic anons mentioning how he won Oscars for his acting. Same thing applies here. You're a bunch of morons. This movie is objectively good.

It had some good slapstick martial art and it was nice to see a middle aged couple as the leads in an action movie but the non physical humor was corny as hell and not all that funny. I dunno, it didn't do it for me.

Honestly, I felt much the same about Barbie. It's trying so hard to be quirky and postmodern and ironic, but then it just settles on the same tired morals about family and being yourself and and stuff as every American movie.

      Cool it wokey.

It would be NICE to see a normal attractive WHITE couple in the leads in a movie

I watched it recently and thought it sucked. I put off watching it after seeing how much praise and awards it received, knowing that it could never reach that hype.
The acting was actually quite bad, I noticed that the actors were inconsistent with their accents, starting off trying to capture more "authentic" Engrish but then the level of accent changes from scene to scene. The quirkiness was overwhelming, especially with the daughter, the bagel bit was worse than worst of Rick and Morty and the film kept trying to insist that it was the funniest thing ever.

This was just an unfocused, unserious mess.

It might have been a great 00s action-comedy with Jackie Chan as the lead and less crude humour

The humor was exceedingly juvenile, like saints row 3 level of dumb
    >dude dildos and buttplugs lmao
    Fricking grating
I hate to use reddit as a descriptor but I just can't find a better word to describe the tone this mess went for
Aside for that, all the quirkiness and grotesquery are just there to dress up a fairly shallow messaging. The movie goes to great lenghts to explain that life is LE MEANINGLESS but is absolutely lacking when it comes to the second part of the equation where we are supposed to find our own meaning. And the pieces were there too. When the dad characters mentions his confessor I thought they could have gone for a kierkegaard-esque knight of faith thing, or find some other kind of exhistential philosophy to contrast the nihilism of the villain, but no, they went for... nothing. At all.
We spent two hours extensively proving that on a multiversal scale or whatever nothing has really any meaning, and yet we see maternal love as a universal constant. Replace "love saves the day" with "the plot saves the day" and there is no meaningful difference. Because there is nothing meaningful to be gleamed from this shitshow. The moral could be pretty much summed up with "it costs $ 0 to not be like this".
    That's lame. Just so lame.
