This movie is borderline schizophrenic at times and I can't tell if it's intentional or not.
In one scene the main character mourns someones death, then 30 seconds later he's giggling and gleefully plotting a coup. It's a very odd film, half reverance half mockery.
Yo dis shit do be too long doe I ain't got no time fo dis shet homie
really good posts, really funny, great stuff
the movie isnt schizophrenic, depending on which scenes you are talking about, weeks or months could have happened between them, but the point is that Lawrence himself is driven mad by the war. It is something he excels at, that he is masterful at, but as a result everyone around him dies, he is tortured and brutalized, and is rejected by both the Arabs and the British, unable to call either side home.
Well there's at least half a dozen conversations where Lawrence gets called out for being two faced or lying and then both characters just smile at each other and it's forgotten. Like he's a naughty child you can't help but love, it's weird.
Yeah that's the point. Lawrence has this magnetism about him, he attracts people effortlessly, but never lets any of them in to his true self, constantly deflecting with little jokes or pithy remarks. He is also winning the war so people are willing to let a lot of things slide.
You aren't very bright, are you?
>You aren't very bright, are you?
I'm just trying to discuss a movie you've clearly adopted as a personality trait, which is very juvenile.
>paying attentiion to a movie, understanding it, and remembering it means it must be a personality trait
Damn dude you're world view is pretty moronic
>I'm just trying to discuss a movie
Not really, you just keep calling things weird or schizophrenic, thats not a discussion, that's a series of statements.
>Not really, you just keep calling things weird or schizophrenic
They're just words, you should stop taking it so personally. The movie is the movie, it's not part of you. A criticism or question about the movie is not a personal attack on you.
>Damn dude you're world view is pretty moronic
You just seem very emotional over a simple discussion. Clearly liking the movie to you is something you feel proud of.
lmao that's a lot of made up projection. Where did I ever say I like the movie? And you think calling you stupid means I'm emotional?
You might be autistic man, you really have trouble parsing or understanding emotions, as is evident by both your inability to understand the film in question and your wild misreading of my posts. Hope you get the help you need though.
>projection
I win the argument. GG, no re. Thanks for playing.
>You aren't very bright, are you?
There was at least half a good discussion going on until you said this. Why stoop to unnecessary ad hominem? It’s already obvious to everyone reading this thread that OP is not very bright.
The only way people learn to stop being stupid is through negative reinforcement
the OP started the fricking thread with moronic statements about the movie instead of opening a discussion about it and you want to complain about ad hominen?
homosexual, also, this board and site are utter garbage for discussion of anything, case in point, this thread with this kind of post
Mods are to moronic to understand moderating bait and shit behavior is not the same thing as expression of opinions and different views and stop actual effort discussion being made, high level homosexualry
>to
>There was at least half a good discussion
I know, because I was the good half. If the other half isn't going to put in the effort why should I bother?
He was still alive and in teh Newfoundland/Greenland area around 2000. He's long lived. Apparently hate the Arabs and British now. He's originally from Rhodes or Crete and was born around the 1600s so he is very old now even for a long lived. May even be dead.
he's crazy from the very start.
a little bit, its more he is ignorant and overly confident, but gets progressively crazie as the bodies build up, and completely breaks after he is raped / tortured.
crazier**
Lawrence was never insane. He just cared about keep some archaeological sites and parts of Jerusalem safe. He never gave a shit about the British empire. He did hate the Turks and Ottomans very much though. He only liked the Arabs as long as they were killing Ottomans.
No, he was definitely insane. He didn't like the British empire, true, but he felt a great passion for the disperate Arab tribes and wanted to unite them into the great empire he saw they could be.
Your schizo ramblings about Jerusalem and archaeological sites, which are never mentioned in the movie, are irrelevant and you should have a nice day because your brain doesn't work.
>and is rejected by both the Arabs and the British, unable to call either side home.
I didnt see that in the movie, it is true that arabs didnt accept him but a lot of his fellow british comrades admired him and even liked him after all what he did during his involvement in the arab revolt. For me it was more about him rejecting his own people and wanting to be accepted by the arabs as their messiah.
maybe at first they admire him as a great soldier, but their refusal to help the Arabs or see them as humans who deserve their own proper country distances him from them, you see that he is unable to relate to them as the movie continues, doesn't even dress like them, and he keeps refusing them to go back among the Arabs. I don't think the two readings are mutually exclusive.
Frfr no cap dis shit 2 long ong
>"I am smarter than David Lean"
>Never go full moron
How did David Lean get way with pic related?
Characters of this magnitude often appear mad to normal people. It's a mad movie about a crazy person. Alexander the great or Adolf Hitler are similar.
Why can't zoomers into Kino of Arabia, lads?

You might genuinely be autistic anon.
OP, stick to capeshit, please. This movie is way too complex for you.
>Four hours of sand
>Complex
Yeah, I will stick to capeshit. At least that's entertaining.
I preferred Doctor Zhivago

I have this film rated as a 10 but tb h I don't remember much of it anymore. I should rewatch it even though I almost never rewatch anything. 4 hours is quite a chore.
You dont necessarily have to do it in one sitting. The intermission divides the film in two distinct parts pretty nicely.
Yeah but intermission should really be just that - take a piss, open a beer etc. But a film of this magnitude should be appreciated as a real event that takes up the whole evening. Maybe I'll gather a couple friends together and we'll watch it.
>In one scene the main character mourns someones death, then 30 seconds later he's giggling and gleefully plotting a coup.
I dont remember such an sequence. I think you are exaggerating for your argument's sake.
I always thought it odd the movie starts with Lawrence's death. Weird choice, but it doesn't take away from the story.
