It takes me out of the story so much whenever super-powered villain that can fight wonder woman and super-man don't kill batman in a single punch. Same with Spider-man when he fights people like Doc Ock who is just a normal human with metal arms. Spider-man could easily punch his head off but Octavius rarely get damaged badly from such attacks.
Comic book powers are moronic and vary greatly between writers too. Anyway, in JLU it's just an opportunity for the artists to draw their ryona fetish to their heart's content.
I kind of assume all of Spiderman's enemies are actually suped up with science bullshit or Spiderman purposefully holds back a lot.
It's canon the Spidey holds back a lot when he is fighting. If he stopped playing nice, he could kill almost all of his rogues.
Most of Spider-man rogue's gallery are actually avenger level dudes but not very bright (Elektro, Sandman, the spot, etc). Also yes, he holds back a lot, mentions it every now and then
