Where do people get this idea that PTA decided to make one overtly political film (despite not having made any before), and then drop the act for the rest of his career?
I really liked the story in general, the whole arc, but hate this movie with all my heart. Acting is unnecessarily over the top, scenes too disconnected from each other, there's no flow, only overacting. Competently shot, everything you see is shot beautiful, angles, set, colors, a pleasure for the eyes, for the brain, not so much.
Greed is more essential, but slower paced and without a basedjack to mock. DDL is just acting for the meme era. He doesn't really get the essence of America like he did that cripple.
It feels like PTA saw ''Gangs of New York'' and just put Bill the Butcher with a different haircut in a Oscar-baiting uninspired movie; and ofc it worked
