>is it worth getting into nowadays?
I'm always baffled when people phrase things like this. Are you implying that modern tv shows are so good that something from the 90s might not be as entertaining? Do you not realize that modern tv is absolute dogshit? Even the worst tv shows from the 90s are better than what is produced today, let alone something as beloved and acclaimed as Buffy
S2 was much more focused on Angel's past rather than just being a crime of the week show. The show didn't find itself until Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been.

The Faith two-parter in season 1 is when things really started to pick up imo
>Whedon character assassinating Cordelia and almost torpedoing his own show just to punish the actress for getting pregnant without his autorization and refusing to abort because she was catholic
Retroactivelly indeed it makes the nonsense that was Angel late season 3/season 4 much more logic
>whedon and writers dream up plot before S3 that cordy will turn evil and angel will kill her at the end of s4 >whedon then leaves show to different showrunner because all he cared about was firefly >carpenter gets pregnant >whedon gets annoyed and has to change storyline from cordy doing a bunch of fights to having the beast do it >still doesn't really give a shit about angel or buffy >s4 ends with cordy being in a coma >carpenter is let go because studio demands reduced budget
Whedon is a wiener, but he didn't torpedo the show to spite Carpenter.

Nice twisting of reality, Joss. Carpenter's version was confirmed by everyone.
Yes I'd say so if you are in the right frame of mind. S1 is comfy but a bit shit. The cast and writers get into the swing of it from S2 onwards and it gets good, really solid TV entertainment. Some of its even genuinely great.
Of course, it's one of the best shows ever. If you're a zoomie you might not enjoy it as much but if you were alive and aware of the world around you in the 90s it's great.
I'll never understand how power scales in this universe. Are vampires absolute juggernauts that can dodge or tank bullet fire while smashing through brick walls like they're made of rice paper or b***hes that regular normie cool black guys can put down?
If the former, most of the scoobies would have died in seconds.
It the latter, there's nothing special about Slayers at all.
Vampires are weird glasss cannons. They are strong, tanky, and immune to some kind of damages. But on the other hand, even normal humans can kill them in the right conditions and with luck (by using sunlight or with a sneak staking in the heart from the back for example)
The feats are wildly inconsistent, but I remember in season 6 when they got a troll hammer from a villain of the week, Spike could barely lift it off the ground while Buffy was wielding it one handed in the finale.
At this point I consider Buffy and Angel the two halves of a single TV show. But if I were to choose, I'd prefer Angel. The last season is pinnacle of kino and the series finale is probably the best one I've seen to this day, maybe only matched by Person of Interest, which is also highest order of kino.
Their Demon Blood makes them allergic to most technology. Dont forget in their unadultered form without a human base vamps souls are litterally feral manbeasts
They do use guns sometimes, as early as the first season you see a vamp dual wielding pistols. But they prefer a physical confrontation, it's just their nature.
Where do you even get a gun in Commiefornia?
You could work it out eventually if you put your mind to it, but not if you couldn't be arsed to because you already feel invincible.
season one buffy has become my favorite to watch
it's short like 12 episodes and it's just 15 year olds getting into high school shenanigans with your small circle of friends slaying evil monsters
I always loved season 1 and hated that it's weirdly disliked by people, but I think peak is 3 just because it's got Eliza, Anya, and Jenny. Just pure babes all season long.
The main issue with the first season is the generic main villain. I really love it personally, and I find the dark 16mm film look to be very cozy and wish they had filmed the entire show in 16mm and not just the first two seasons.
Hating on S1 seems like a modern opinion people just keep repeating for some reason. I mean, it was critically acclaimed and popular from the start. I'm not entirely sure why people now act like it wasn't.
based anon. I was born in the 80s, so watched this as it aired on TV as a kid at the time so the aspect of high school friends getting into horror themed adventures always appealed to me. I actually lost interest a lot when she moved to college in S3 (possibly S4)
No its dated and misogynistic and full of patriarchal sexist bullshit. All of the girls are oversexualized despite being high schoolers. You should go watch the Marvel's instead that's a much more up to date movie with positive messages.
I watched the Buffy film for the first time last week, I knew it was meant to be worse than the show but I didn't expect it to be as bad as it was. Beyond the shitty writing (I assume the results of the studio edits that made Joss quit), I was shocked by just how amateur the production (particularly the sound) was.
All the punches sound like someone throwing a pillow at a wall, the music is fricking awful, in one scene everyone is just extremely echoey for seemingly no reason, during a fight scene the music stops immediately when the last guy gets staked but it's right in the middle of a bar so it sounds fricking weird.

you not aware of the term dated
Is it really dated when Marvel movies, even ones made today, use humor inspired from Josh Whedon?
Yeah it's a word morons use when they have no actual criticism or anything of real substance to say about an old movie or show they didn't like
i want AI make porn of OPs pic
so yes it is still cool
even better now that wheedon is an on the fringe freak
Its good. But the spin off aged more gracefully.
Buffy peaked when started to get shitty
Angel started off shitty then slowly became kino.
>Angel started kino, then became shitty during season 3-4, and suddenly became kino again in season 5
FTFY
>Angel started shit, got good in S2, turned to shit again in S3+S4, got good again in S5.
This is the correct order of events.
>Filtered by season 1 detective noir kino
Season 2 its litterally season 1 but with Darla.
It should have been season 1 with more Kate. 🙁
S2 was much more focused on Angel's past rather than just being a crime of the week show. The show didn't find itself until Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been.
The Faith two-parter in season 1 is when things really started to pick up imo
>david boreanaz is 54 years old
Where can I find the non remastered version?
Same place you find all shows.
It's aged great. It's more enjoyable now because you can see all the behind the scenes drama play out on the screen.
>Whedon character assassinating Cordelia and almost torpedoing his own show just to punish the actress for getting pregnant without his autorization and refusing to abort because she was catholic
Retroactivelly indeed it makes the nonsense that was Angel late season 3/season 4 much more logic
You know that isn't what happened, right?
Oh? So what really happened anon?
>whedon and writers dream up plot before S3 that cordy will turn evil and angel will kill her at the end of s4
>whedon then leaves show to different showrunner because all he cared about was firefly
>carpenter gets pregnant
>whedon gets annoyed and has to change storyline from cordy doing a bunch of fights to having the beast do it

Nice twisting of reality, Joss. Carpenter's version was confirmed by everyone.
Name one person who confirmed it.
i did
Source?
torrent it or buy it on DVD
The dvd remux is on public trackers last I checked.
For me? It's when Buffy is invisible and has sex with Spike, then somebody walks in and Spike pretends he's doing naked push-ups in his bed

I personally love s1-3 the most.
When they gave Willow an ugly lesbian witch girlfriend that's when the show started to suffer.
lets play How Many Are israelites?
It still hold up, for sure. Just skip past season 1.
Will it ever get a proper remaster?
No, it will get a shit one.
I'll never understand how power scales in this universe. Are vampires absolute juggernauts that can dodge or tank bullet fire while smashing through brick walls like they're made of rice paper or b***hes that regular normie cool black guys can put down?

It the latter, there's nothing special about Slayers at all.
Some vampires are weaker than others. Likely based on age and experience, but maybe there's some "strength of the blood" VtM thing going on too.
Vampires are weird glasss cannons. They are strong, tanky, and immune to some kind of damages. But on the other hand, even normal humans can kill them in the right conditions and with luck (by using sunlight or with a sneak staking in the heart from the back for example)

I put that down to magic Mjolner rules. She was more worthy or some shit.
They are as strong as the plot needs them to be. Same with slayers. One minute Buffy can bend steel, the next can't break a rope.
At this point I consider Buffy and Angel the two halves of a single TV show. But if I were to choose, I'd prefer Angel. The last season is pinnacle of kino and the series finale is probably the best one I've seen to this day, maybe only matched by Person of Interest, which is also highest order of kino.
Ps. I love Amy Acker
But the amazing final season just barely makes up for the shitty middle seasons of the show.
Naah man, though the middle seasons of Angel and the final season of Buffy are not as good, I personally never found them "bad".
This and this. Kate got kinda wasted. It's also a shame that Doyle's actor went a died. 🙁
I find it interesting that the Angel finale was never meant to be the final one. Ending in media res was very fitting.
Yeah... I know there was supposed to be a season 6, but Whedon being the gay that he is fricked it up by trying to strong arm the studios or so.
People like comfy shows. And Buffy library scenes are pinnacle of comfy.
no
Why has there been so many kino Buffy threads lately?
It’s Whedon shit, so no.
Why don't the bad guys just use guns? The vampires don't seem powerful enough to be better without them.
Their Demon Blood makes them allergic to most technology. Dont forget in their unadultered form without a human base vamps souls are litterally feral manbeasts

Why does Trachtenberf look so weird thesd days? Like a completely different person. She s lost the weight so it's not that.
Lost weight. I think she had the buccal fat thing done. On top of that she filters the frick out of her IG pics.
>I think she had the buccal fat thing done.
she didn't.
Nice digits, but are you sure?
What the frick is that surgery called? I kinda liked it when fatties do it tbh
