This would legitimately be the smart thing to do. Come out and say that they're going to scrap these films and re-do the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Get good writers to come up with three movie scripts and make sure the whole story is fully written before they even start production on the first one.
Make the protagonist a young man, the son of Han and Leia, who are now dead, who inherits his force sensitivity from his mother obviously, though he doesn't know about it at first. He doesn't live on a fricking desert planet though. Maybe a place more like the beginning of Rogue One? Something different. He's a pilot though, obviously taught by his dad. and maybe his copilot buddy can be Chewbacca's son? but they don't fly the Falcon, it was scrapped years ago. they have a new ship, one never seen in Star wars before. they're not smugglers, maybe they have a legitimate shipping/transport/delivery service? There's no empire, no first order, the government is not the enemy. The antagonist is Darth Plagueis, who wants to destroy all life in the galaxy so that he can play God and create his own galaxy, repopulate it with his own people because he has the ability to create life. He doesn't show up in the first movie though, he has a sith apprentice who is the main antagonist in the first film. but you know who does show up in the first movie? Luke, as the Ben to our protagonist, to teach him about the Force and how to use a lightsabre so that he can fight the sith. because the sith are coming after him since they know he's a descendant of Anakin Skywalker, so he's the only real threat to their evil plan because all of the other Jedi are gone (they think Luke is dead, and so do we until he shows up in the second act of the movie). Unlike Ben in ANH though, Luke doesn't die at the end of the first movie, he lives until the third one and dies in some significant way. I'm running out of text so that's it for now.

The only decent PT film was TPM and it didn't really feel like a Star Wars film. The rest of the PT films were CGI slop. Disney should have made a non-canon animated TV series about EU adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han and Leia rebuilding the Republic, fighting new battles, etc...They could have done it in the style of studio Ghibli or something and made it sort of a "what if" and gave the project to someone like James Gun to handle not JJ, just set it in it's own sort of bubble universe thing. You can't follow up ROTJ, it was the end of Anakin and Luke's story. There's literally no more antagonist, they won. Any reversal of the achievement sucks the air out of the victory.

Hard disagree. I hated the prequel trilogy but they clearly had kids and fans invested in them. From 99 to the Disney buyout they were the face of the brand. Attack of the Clones doubling down on more Jedi and the introduction of the Clone Troopers healed the IP and made it viable toy juggernaut after TPM even if the movie was hated. Disney throwing the prequel imagery away the second they got the IP was one of their biggest mistakes because that was what modern kids knew the brand for.

I've seen all the movies and honestly, the original movies were overrated. They were probably amazing for their time, but watching them now it makes them show their age. The world is depicted kind of small, it feels like a budget production. The originals had a lot of goofy shit, but the worst offender was the ewoks. Like holy shit, do they actually mean some little teddy bears with sticks and stones can actually defeat an army of soldiers and equipment? Why ewoks, why did they choose such a silly and childish being? That was like jar jar binks kind of terrible.
The latest movies were forgettable, they didn't do a good job with them despite having good promise. This of course is the fault of the israelite, as it is often with these cases. But I'd argue that all of the movies suffer from similar problems.

The only decent PT film was TPM and it didn't really feel like a Star Wars film. The rest of the PT films were CGI slop. Disney should have made a non-canon animated TV series about EU adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han and Leia rebuilding the Republic, fighting new battles, etc...They could have done it in the style of studio Ghibli or something and made it sort of a "what if" and gave the project to someone like James Gun to handle not JJ, just set it in it's own sort of bubble universe thing. You can't follow up ROTJ, it was the end of Anakin and Luke's story. There's literally no more antagonist, they won. Any reversal of the achievement sucks the air out of the victory.

Nu Wars is a soulless husk of a brand. TFA the most expensive and at the same time uneventful and boring flick ever made. TLJ is a Spaceballs sequel essentially. TRoS is a mess of its own but at least delivered some semi-memorable scenes and tried to tell a story.

I liked Clone Wars but it’s not some holy gospel current Star Wars fans make it out to be. And banking the franchise on Clone Wars nostalgia (especially Rebels nostalgia) which only niche demographics have seen is going to rapidly deteriorate the franchise. Hard disagree. I hated the prequel trilogy but they clearly had kids and fans invested in them. From 99 to the Disney buyout they were the face of the brand. Attack of the Clones doubling down on more Jedi and the introduction of the Clone Troopers healed the IP and made it viable toy juggernaut after TPM even if the movie was hated. Disney throwing the prequel imagery away the second they got the IP was one of their biggest mistakes because that was what modern kids knew the brand for.
The prequels were huge and highly beloved amongst the generation they were made for idk why that's so hard for seething gen x manchildren to accept.

I've seen all the movies and honestly, the original movies were overrated. They were probably amazing for their time, but watching them now it makes them show their age. The world is depicted kind of small, it feels like a budget production. The originals had a lot of goofy shit, but the worst offender was the ewoks. Like holy shit, do they actually mean some little teddy bears with sticks and stones can actually defeat an army of soldiers and equipment? Why ewoks, why did they choose such a silly and childish being? That was like jar jar binks kind of terrible.
The latest movies were forgettable, they didn't do a good job with them despite having good promise. This of course is the fault of the israelite, as it is often with these cases. But I'd argue that all of the movies suffer from similar problems.
