            You’re describing all modern adaptations

            Anonymous

            It is.
Whoever owns the distribution rights for a property they did not actual create typically must pay royalties to the creators of that property
However, if they make their own version, they can potentially replace that original version with their own and pay infinitesimally smaller royalties
That's the only reason things are ever remade or adapted, it's not because the IP is just so strong or whatever, it's because some israelite somewhere wants to pay less money for some property they have leased out
Something like Cowboy Bebop, while being maybe the most massively accessible anime to ever exist is still fairly niche, and that niche is happy to not spend any more money on Bebop because most people have the series and movie readily available and have for decades, meaning whatever israelite-run company that currently owns the North American license to the property is not making anything off of that
But if those israelites made their own version that somehow became popular and the first result for whenever anyone googled Cowboy Bebop, they will have punished that niche group of goys who isn't giving them money by destroying the thing they like
This is the ONLY reason this ever happens, don't ever forget that

      >The flashback episode was legitimately kino and something missing from the original
I really see the flashback being a big flaw in the narrative of the story, the original Bebop didn't have to spoonfeed what Spike or any of the crew went through but depended on more showing their backstory through the way the characters act or through silent glimpses into Spike's fake eye visions. Spelling out exactly what all the characters went through ruins the mystique of the cast but that's just me.

      >The flashback episode was legitimately kino and something missing from the original.
Yeah, the original show really needed to establish that syndicate hitters have moronic names and Spike's real name is "Fearless" because the fricking women and israelites in charge of this bullshit thought viewers would need some kind of explanation for why Vicious is named is Vicious despite their version of character not being all that Vicious thus making their stupid code name thing or whatever completely pointless

Kids on the slop is garbage after the 4 episode, when it stops being about music and music is just an innane background in a school romance triangle drama. Too bad because the jazz idea was great. I dont know why they drop that shit so fast.

Champloo is just Bebop but with the bad Black person music, not the good Black person music.

there's a ridiculous and unintentionally comical scene where Black Jet in his future space badass outfit is walking through a completely mundane and modern-ass San Francisco suburb like the fricking Full House opening credits to give his kid a birthday present
Spike is the one they didn't change at all, aside from casting an old man and just making everything that was already there more stupid

          Anonymous

I'm fricking talking about him still being relatively the same character. Adding those other buttholes a kid a wife whatever didn't change him that much as a bounty hunter or his interactions with Spike and Faye.

            Anonymous

So they could've given him a gay sex scene but if everything else was the same you'd be okay with it, got it

              Anonymous

That's a big leap from having a kid and wife and no I wouldn't be cool with that. Jet at least had an ex wife in the show so it's not that much of a stretch for him to have a wife and kid.

                Anonymous

He didn't have an ex-wife in the anime, he had a woman that he probably would have married when he was a cop but she ran out on him.
If you don't understand why turning a character into a bad father devalues him, even if he still "acts the same" as he did in the original, where he wasn't a father at all, then you're fricking moronic.
It's the same as if Spike was also the exact same character as the anime, but still played by a 40 year old, which would then devalue the fact that his entire character arc is built for a man in his late 20s who spent most of his youth as essentially a triad or yakuza or mobster and now feels like he's not even really alive because the sum total of his life disappeared when he was betrayed by Julia.
But if he's 40 and that still happened, but it happened, potentially, two decades ago for him, it makes less fricking sense for the character, which makes it bad. Understand?

                Anonymous

Cool you hated it with proficiency, good job. I liked it and didn't feel like live action Jet was that bad or as bad as they could have gone like you mentioned full on gay buttsex. It still us not that much of a fricking stretch from the anime since Jet did have a relationship. Jet wasn't some celibate fricking monk or some shit. But I get it your jimmies rustled too much but you probably saw that coming so the question is why did you watch knowing you were going to be this disappointed?

                Anonymous

                >hurr durr why did you watch
Because I like to have actual knowledge of the things I care to shit on as to not be a disingenuous homosexual
                >not that much a stretch
So in your head the love of his life walking out on him is equitable to having been married and having a kid and then walking out on them to become a bounty hunter?
Because those are two very different things that reflect very differently upon the morals and character of a character.
                >Jet wasn't some celibate monk
And this is a homosexualy hyperbolic response to an argument no one made.
You are moronic, the way you live your life, you might as well be a troony.

Julia was hunted by Vicious because she wouldn't kill Spike. She destroyed Spike's note so nobody could find him and let him fake his death and get away. She did it all for him while she was chased by thugs for three years. That's not betrayal. That's love.

Even if you are faithful, so much of this sort of thing depends on the art style used in it's creation. Like the way smoke lingers animated on an otherwise motionless shot throughout Bebop. That's an extremely difficult thing to pull off going from 2D to 3D.

I liked it. I would have watched a second season. Production was good. Music was on point. Jet being black didn't even bother me he was the best actor. I'd have watched a second season. Real shame

I didn't watch it mostly because I didn't want to have any negativity in mind, so I'm still neutral here just so I don't potentially commit more thought crimes - I don't want to go to the ouch

I liked it OP I don't care what all these fricking incels say. It was a fine adaptation. Good, even. Downright astonishing at some points. The only Netflix "original" I have finished since The OA.

As always Netflix cancels everything good that I like.

      >It was a fine adaptation. Good, even. Downright astonishing at some points.
it's fine if you enjoyed the show but calling it a good adaptation indicates that you never actually watched the original media
      it's an objectively poor adaptation
even setting aside the race-swapping, the writing is shit and they completely butchered characters like Vicious
the visuals are also a contentious issue
I think the show looked bad because it's an anime and was never meant to be adapted like this
a lot of the shots have this cum-glazed negative clarity filter that looks like absolute shit
personally, I'm quite happy that this show was quickly cancelled and forgotten
I'm sure many of the people involved in the creation were real fans but overall it was an insult to the original media

I saw this recently and the Spike cast didn't bother me as much

      impressive, very nice...
now type "Elliott Gould Marlowe" into google images

its only "not total shit" in relation to how many even shittier CW-tier tv series adaptations exist
similarly to how "good animes" are just "not total shit" compared the brown sea of shounen isekai and moeshit
    also
    would fridge faye

I didn't see it because Jet being black is a non-starter. The Spike actor looks like a huge pud also
    >But I loved Black person Jet, he was great!
Good for you homosexual but I'll never know because I'm not watching that shit

How can anyone be okay with Spike being played by a 65 year old man?

    >Spike needed to be in his late twenties.
    >Faye needed to be asian.
    >Julia needed to be a nordic blue-eyed blonde.
    Netflix botched the casting

I like the set design and it was pretty cool seeing elements of the cartoon in live action, but otherwise it was pretty terrible.

As its own thing, I'd say it was good and entertaining. But it would've been better without the Cowboy Bebop name and IP.

op pic looks like a fan film. I don't remember any junkyard surrounded by trees scene in the original show.
