If it's done for social reasons then it's bad
But if it's played for laughs then it's funny
I enjoyed it
>played for laughs
Laughs are for things that are unexpected, turning whites men into weeping pussies is no longer new or fresh or unexpected.
you cant emasculate me.
You're really easy to manipulate if all it takes is 1 "news" headline to alter your behaviour.
Clickbait horse shit, he's as manly as a bard in dnd is going to be playing the generic archetype.
I heard he's a bit of a wimp at the beginning but by the end he's a hero and makes his own way to being that
Pretty much, in the beginning he's generically down trotted to an extent. He's just a bard, really. I thought he was a good male character and emphasized good male traits. Honor, and being a good dad.
It won't work if you don't identify with Pine's character??
It's easily the best fantasy movie ever made - it's brilliant fast paced action, hilarious marvel-esque comedy, the latest CGI, a wonderfully diverse cast and the best mediaeval costumes America can buy... What more could you want? Holy kino
Rly?
Conan is fun but hasn't aged well.
Also good for pitgays and blackgirlsinthongs-gays
>hilarious marvel-esque comedy
>the best mediaeval costumes America can buy
AHAHAHAHAHA
Marketing it as a Dungeons & Dragons movie was probably the big mistake it made. Should have just called it something else and let the D&D nerds recognize all the Forgotten Realms names for themselves.
No offense, but the D&D title is what drew audiences to it. You really think anyone wants to see a Lord of The Rings knock off with 2/3rds of the cast as minorities or women?
We already saw how that turned out for Amazon.
Well, no. I can only speak anecdotally as a librarygay but after the movie came out there's been growing interest in tabletop here from kids and parents. We dismissed it as a little fad but the core books are on a waiting list still and the little "intro to DND" class we had in response has turned in to a monthly tabletop meet-up with weekly game nights for kids and teens that sees a full house.
I don't know how long it's going to last tbh but it's cool to see.
>a wonderfully diverse cast
The diverse audience didn't show up
Wait...no blacks? Just a couple of browns? It can't be...
I don’t know what to believe
Is it shit or not
Its pretty good decent story and the humor is actually funny
It's a fine adventure movie, pretty inoffensive but I s not amazing.
Just head on over to rotten tomar'os yourself critics are loving it!
read up on pic related, parrot analytics, and how paramount is attempting to defraud advertisers by selling "brand impressions" based on the number of spam posts their bots generate
they keep pushing it because they greenlit a streaming series before the movie flopped and can't back out
It was really good. There's a few jokes that work as concepts but flop in the movie, like the barbarian woman with the hobbit ex-husband, and since they broke up he'd married an even bigger, more barbaric woman, but it doesn't fall flat like that very often. Otherwise, it's just a really fun adventure movie
Also, I was shocked at how many practical effects and monster costumes were used, and how good they looked. Rodriguez's costume looked bad (she's not a bad stage-fighter though, to her credit) but otherwise it was pretty impressive how natural they looked. The last fantasy thing I consumed was the Wheel of Time show, and despite trying to be dead serious, the costumes and makeup looked like fricking dogshit, and seeing nice costumes and well-done practical effects for things I assumed would be bland CGI was a nice surprise
Also the white himbo bard gives the black pokemon kid what equates to the psychic equivalent of a whipping when he forced the helmet thing on him. Pine was for all intents and purposes a master dancing and singing on top of the backs of his women servants and black slave boy
for
mission accomplished
It's alright all things considered. They could've went really hard on the social justice shittery and the marvel quip dialogue but didn't. Don't give them money, pirate it if you really want to watch it.
It's mostly shit. Like fast and furious fantasy shock.
Get a good rip off torrents and find out. I'm an AD&D nerd. As far as I am concerned it has been dead since the day TSR went under. As far as this movie is concerned it's less shit than I thought. This movie was done for laughs and it actually worked. Everything points to shit, but weirdly it's actually really inoffensive on any kind of gender bending bullshit. Honestly I'm pretty sure that was clickbait. Put it this way. The lead is a father trying to man up and make good and the lesbian looking barbarian sidekick is really into halflings. That's the basic gist.
It's a good 5th edition movie, me thinks. I thought the big buff barbarian woman loving a small gnome man was funny
>Go see it in the theater
>Opens with the actors thanking you for coming out to watch it
This was really nice. I think the actors knew it would flop being a D&D movie but you can tell they had a lot of fun making it.
Some early post lockdown movies did that. It was nice I guess.
I was expecting nothing and had a very fun time. Extra fun if you actually play DnD and can see how the story plays out like a real game would.
>le white main character man is actually cowardly pathetic fraud
how original
He was a capable guy with a backstory defined by his failures and desperate for redemption, ready and willing to die to undo the sins of his past. He was the most driven member of the group and the guy who turned it around when everyone was ready to quit, and he's the only one with a plan. Meanwhile the black Sorcerer is consistently mocked for being a depressed loser who's bad at magic (because he's a Wild caster) and is repeatedly emasculated by the cute ginger Druid girl. Why are you lying?
He hasn't seen the movie. Soon he'll start posting graphs about paramounts stock price and earnings reports.
He’s a bard that’s what they do and that’s what people want them to do. He’s also usually the one who comes up with the clever plan to save the group.
The castle escape and sorcerer fight scenes were really impressive. I think it would have been a significantly more successful movie if it had an all-White cast though.
No israelite would finance that
wow this looks fricking awful
jews have some brass neck
one thing to make israeli propaganda
one thing to make shit movies
one thing to fill your shit movies with bad cgi in 2023
all three together is just brazen
i bet amerimutts were shitting themselves laughing at this cringe shit
the israelite and his golem
I took a piss during this part and I'm glad I did
I really liked the DM NPC, good keks specially with his ending
This + The ending scene with her and the halfing giving her the award were great
Do you homosexuals even know how to enjoy anything?
>Farewell
>Just walks off in a random direction
Lol
for me, it's Doric
I swear she's a ScarJo clone they're testing.
Lol they don't even have the same face structure
She was great
Probably not most white people don't have /misc/ centered view of things
How does one even survive living in the Forgotten Realms. You can't even travel to a different city without the chance some magic entity is going to ruin your life or kill you
You have magical entities on your side sometimes too
Good shill!
I liked the paladin. Literally me.
no it fricking isn't
Does it have any characters that embody someone's first D&D character? Gotta have the half elf brooding sorcerer who's good at everything and possibly linked to the Drow.
The arrogant half-Tiefling shape-changing druid waifu played by Sophia Lillis
This, right down to having no roleplaying ability and a straight-from-the-book backstory
No but it does have a guy that's clearly a mary sue DMPC in it
Reminder: paramount shills here, heavily.
>any thread on Cinemaphile that doesn't actually belong on /misc/ or /b/ is a shill thread

greenlit two months before the film's failure
then report OP for advertising and see what happens
Where were they when Halo was being mocked here for weeks and why aren't they here trying to say it wasn't bad?
Dark Souls reference
i got the 4k bluray for $10 and still have no motivation to watch...
It shouldn't be a surprise the new D&D movie flopped. Not only was the last one an utter failure (even though a straight-played movie of the 3.5 iconics and their example adventure into the ruined monastery would have been excellent, due to how low the bar is for a DnD movie), but the fan base has only grown worse since then. Indeed, were this movie made in 2004 it might actually be tolerable. But that goes for most movies made now.
What you are seeing is the final stage of the söyification of Dungeons and Dragons. The teasing foreplay of it's prominence in Stranger Things, the Big Bang Theory, and other normalgay media, has helped flood the hobby with casuals who couldn't give a frick about the existent culture and who utterly lack imagination. This, along with the mongrel hordes of video game players, hunched and dopamine-addled, has caused the game to be flooded with League-of-Legends-style pauldroncore art, and floods of video game meme phrases.
The consumerism of DnD has skyrocketed as it is invaded by söyisraelites and women who outspend the original "nerds" by a factor of 3 to 1. In the end the RPG community has been overtaken and it's culture changes to fit the ADHD low IQ mongoloids who now infest it. Thus, the marvel tier movie should be expected, as Marvel movies are the ultimate expression of the söyisraelite mentality when it comes to storytelling. Nothing can be taken seriously, and the prominence of "muh epic upvotes RPG story of muh nat20 table slamming laughter IPA beer froth everywhere" just goes to show it.
So this movie is just the final stages of the cancer that destroyed DnD. And yet /tg/ still tries to pretend the hobby needs fresh blood, lest it die, and ignoring the fact that it already has.
I can’t tell if this is a shill thread or if Cinemaphile hit a new low. It’s a shit movie with quintessential Reddit humor. I turned it off after 30 minutes
There is no reason to shill this movie after it flopped
>turned it off
It was made to be seen in theaters, you're a pleb
there's nothing to shill, the movie came and went. it's just tabletop nerds ITT because nobody wants to migrate to /tg/
fat dragon was based
>evil sorceress is impressed that the crew of frick-ups defeated her immortal assassins
>they actually didn't do jack shit and her men were eaten by a fat dragon
The jokes were played very deadpan and/or straight but without the modern obnoxious "look at this funny joke we just made" emphasis. It was very pleasant
Somebody working at Paramount had a little too much fun animating his adipose tissue, you could tell it was done very... lovingly.
Press x to doubt
yah it was p fun, the mulatto wizard was funny
It was decent
P damn good actually.
Also good for pit gays
>Sophia's outfit having armpit windows, but never blatantly showing them off, but definately having good scenes for them
>Rodriguez's character getting armpit hair and it getting shown off just enough
It's not too in your face with it like tarintino and feet, but enough to enjoy. I will be watching the director's next film, and hopefully another DnD movie with the same cast
There was a lot more ethnics in this movie than in my dnd campaign
it was trash
Living dead man. AMA.
please
Good meta gag, given that's what some PCs would do given the rules of the item.
Could you put that in the form of a question for me?
what's this pic from?
Oh thank you. It's from the movie in ops pic.
WHAT ABOUT THEIR QUESTIONS? THEY DON'T NEED THOSE
CMON JUST A MOUTHFUL
>post credit scene is just a silly joke instead of shitty sequel hook
refreshing
I thought it was decent. The stuff that worked worked great but the stuff that didn't really fell flat (i.e. mostly the jokes). But overall it was an enjoyable light fantasy/adventure movie. It was also nice to see animatronics/practical effects in a big budget movie again.
it was pretty mediocre
I can forgive the race shit if it's implying the people playing the characters are that race and just self inserting.
HOW POZZED DO I HAVE TO BE TO WATCH THIS
I WON'T WATCH IT IF I HAVE, AS I AM A REDPILLED INDIVIDUAL
You do not have to contact HIV to watch this or any movie.
It’s just a movie you autistic frick
I wouldn't call it pozzed. There are literal mutt characters which I guess is normal for the setting. No out of place modern politics bullshit. Just another adventure movie.
>which I guess is normal for the setting
This autistic guy I used to talk about DnD with in high school trooned out recently.
