This was better than any other King Kong movie because it didn't have some corny ass message, and it was just a dumb action movie with cool set pieces

what message did the original 1933 movie have?
- Hubris of the Western man
- Nature is ultimately untamable
- The power of beauty and kindness over savage hearts
It's a fantastic adventure film and I love it for knowing exactly what it is and having fun. That said, there's are some themes like Sam L. Jackson's character needing a war to fight because he feels like they lost Vietnam, which was outside his control. Now that he's in control of a mission he's determined to win a war no matter what. There's no point where the film says "this is the message of the film" but the main characters have strong motivations that inform what they do.
>- Nature is ultimately untamable
More specifically, trying to forcibly tame nature will kill it
This. And the monsters not being 150m tall gives the humans the element of agency, their actions have real effect on the creatures, they aren't just gnats helplessly scurrying about.
If you're not some utterly biased weeaboo, it's the best Kaiju movie of all time.
I keep misremembering. I thought they made a sequel to this.
Kong vs Godzilla is the sequel
Barely.
Skull Island is a stand-alone American made film with a mature Kong,
KvZ is Chinese made slop which posits that Kong was just an infant in Skull and his true size is 5x as large.
>KvZ is Chinese made slop
it was kino slop
Mainland China has never produced "kino".
faux
>Mainland China
>Hong Kong under British rule
cmon you didnt enjoy the kaiju fighting even a little?
it was chinese propaganda
For some reason, I remembered the Peter Jackson King Kong being good. I rewatched it recently and it was fricking dogshit.
You probably suffered a blow to the head in the interim, it's kino.
It's three fricking hours of boring nonsense. The first half is OK but the moment they get to the island, it becomes garbage
It has in common with Avatar 2 that it is totally in love with it's own SFX/Cinematography, and stretches everything out far too much.
That shit with the T-rexes was awful, it goes on for so fricking long and it only involves Kong and white girl, who you both know are in absolutely no danger at all
Agreed. The Skull Island scenes with the crawlers are always tense and effective.
Sweaty jungle sex with Mason Weaver
it had bmaf propaganda
pure kino
>the scene where they blast Paranoid while dropping bombs all over the island
quinoa
This movie is trash and looks like shit. The island has this yellow pee filter the whole time.
It does not. The colors are only like that during sunset scenes.
> it does not
> the colors are like that
esl?
Literally only the scenes where the sun is setting, are their strong (and appropriate) colors, you utter mong.
Damn you can’t type speak English right shut the frick up
>jacksongays coping once again
Peter Jackson has never made a good movie.
Yes, I know his filmography. Have fun seething and shitting your pants, I'm closing the thread
They didn't have any message in peter jackson's either. In fact name one(1) that did.
