Yes.
Yes and I made my own soundstrack. Also I love Goebbels and Hitler.
That’s funny given it depicts the visceral brutality of a corrupt right wing regime.
>Why would the minister of propaganda love a propaganda movie?! Makes no sense!
Goebbels liked light hearted romps that didn’t front load ideology, Potemkin is not that movie.
From Wikipedia:
>The film's potential to influence political thought through emotional response was noted by Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels, who called Potemkin "... a marvelous film without equal in the cinema ... anyone who had no firm political conviction could become a Bolshevik after seeing the film."
The statement was that it was his favorite, and that’s still not true. As to whether or not he saw utility in it and recognized its brilliance is another matter entirely.
Goebbels was a socialist, just not an internationalist socialist.
Socialists generally don’t crush labor power, they empower its upper echelons and absorb it into the state apparatus.
Think AFL-CIO and the Nixon administration.
Potmkin's depiction is so ridiculous as to be absurd. I don't see why the artistically inclined Goebbels would have be offended by it. This was the guy who hung up "entartete kunst" in his home until Hitler got mad during a visit and told him to take it down.
>witless irony poisoned would be artist.
and the fact that Eisenstein was a israelite makes it even funnier
Wow really? Eisenfeldberg?

Because if there’s one thing the Soviets absolutely didn’t do in their propaganda films, it was framing every conflict into a pre-programmed political dichotomy.
Characters who are hard to find fault with and their motives are better than the protagonists:
I saw it at a local one screen theater. Propaganda was extraordinarily evident but still a neat film.
Same with Nevsky.
this movie is kino as frick and im a 22 year old zoomer
most old movies suck complete dick but people like eisenstein and griffith were gods
Do you guys just look up anything nazi-related to post on Cinemaphile?
Speaking of boat movies I really don't know history is there any background knowledge I need to watch Master and Commander?
You can read the book if you want to. Also in the book they are chasing an U.S ship but they changed it so they won't offend the U.S audience
