This was unironically great

Can you imagine my shock that Netflix managed to produce a reboot that not only doesn’t shit on the original but also ENRICHES it?!

It just had this earnest wholesome message. I was so afraid that they’d something hacky and either have Scott and Ramona decide to be just friends, or pull some lesbian subversion. But they didn’t do any of that. More of this please.

It's not a reboot, dingus. It's a sequel which takes place in an alternate reality. Future Scott wouldn't even exist if it was a reboot.

It's a reboot in pretty much the exact same way Kelvin Star Trek is a reboot.

subversions are the opposite of earnest, it shows lack of faith in an earnest storty telling, its a crutch

There was nothing subversive about it.

The only thing subversive about it is Netflix's advertising.

Coolio, so it's doing as well as the movie, and unlikely to get a second series to frick it up.

Scott and Ramona have even an even stronger relationship by the end and possibly avoid a future divorce, Ramona makes peace with her exes and learns to stop being a b***h with commitment issues, Scott becomes a better person.
                The end.

"Popularity" by twitter is not time watched. I thought we learned this when Marvel and DC tried appealing to twitter by hiring people who were big on twitter only for those books to not sell at all.

So you admit it doesn't count views? So it would not be analagous to the Nielsen Ratings of broadcast TV or the Box Office return of movies? So it's no measure of success?

You're beneath the idiiots who cite Rotten Tomatoes.

Where would you even go from future Scott though? Evil Gideon? Again??? You can't really expand on the world with an S2, like it or not. It's good to end here. besides, it's not like they could get Captain America's actor again for VA stuff. Dude's too big an actor now for cartoon work. He only did this because he wanted too.

What would season 2 even be? All you'd be left with is a sitcom starring the characters or something moronic like Julie making a league of girls Scott didn't actually date.

I think the one thing Takes Off fumbled was Gideon.

Don't get me wrong, Gordon's a based dude and his and Lucas' relationship was cute as hell. But Gideon Graves, the manipulative, mind-controlling, abusive monster who tries to have his ex's new guy killed by digging up every mistake she ever made got redeemed way too easy. The Glow or the microchip was completely forgotten about, even though that's something Gideon put in place before the events of the story. Older Scott calls Ramona's internal vision a "red flag", and in the comic it's implied that she harbours feelings for Gideon throughout their relationship, whether that's real or part of The Glow is debatable, but it seems it had a negative after effect in Old Scott's timeline. Then at the end Gordon tries to blow up the theatre for what is really no reason.

I don't think there's enough there for a Season 2, and I'd rather not get one than have a mediocre one, but I think the one untapped source of potential is having Gordon Goose confront Gideon Graves a little more.

It's funny, it seems like most people got attached to one or two characters, and everyone thinks the one or two characters they loved were botched in the anime
Which tells me that each and every character was botched in the anime.

I'm honestly surprised this show ends with a woman admitting she has massive flaws and the main hetero couple actually staying together and their relation is now stronger.
couple that with the majority of cast being White and I'm surprised Netflix even funded this.

I'm not even saying you're wrong for noticing things, moron. There's just no point in bringing it up in a work where it's completely absent.

Not many, most romance shows about a couple end with the couple getting together. But you're right, a surprising amount of gay stuff happens in fantasy/scifi cartoons and media aimed at children with heavy-handed messages about tolerance and different people.

It seems ubiquitous to you and other people who cry about it because that's the only media you consume. Take off the blinders and you'll see more.

              This.
