I don't even dislike Miles for this. It makes sense that Miles would be pissed about how Pete has been. Some can even interpret Miles as the fanbase.
What I find most irritating is made clear the last several months is obviously Marvel -- not even Spidey -- synergy. Painfully obvious after playing Spider-Man 2 with some of the elements popping up in the comics (Miles and Pete's relationship, Felicia the VOICE narrative).
I wish they'd bring Phin in from the games to the comics. Miles doesn't have any good villains, and she was great. Obviously don't make her the Tinkerer, but they could add her to his backstory, another friend alongside him and Ganke.
I'm all for Miles having original villains/characters. I'm mentally exhausted with Kingsley being Miles punching bag. I also don't like how they tried to make Cletus Mile's foil. Seems very hamfisted. Come to think of it, I can't really remember the last time Spidey dealt with Cletus directly (other than Absolute Carnage, but that really shouldn't be counted; that or any other Venom event).
I kind of just coasted Mile's spinoff, though, but from what I've seen online, she seems like she'd transition well to comics.
Nah, frick off with this concern trolling >Miles is the fanbase being angry at editorial >Miles is the one that lets Peter grow up and have kids >you know Miles really should take over with how badly they're treating Peter
Delete Miles from history forever
Whether you like or not, doesn't mean it isn't happening. I think the whole shit is BS, but they're obviously dragging Pete through the mud while elevating Miles for a specific reason. And the way comics are sold, it's hard to distinguish actual sells from variant galore, so we don't even know if Miles is a money bag for them on the comic media end.
Exactly. And the fanboys should accept that. Only the movies, shows, games and merch matter. It doesn’t matter what happens in the comics nowadays since nobody reads the damn things.
Maybe in comic media, but that's categorically untrue for other media. The PS4/PS5 of Spider-Man: Miles Morales sold 6 million. Whether you trust those numbers are not is up to you. Into the Spider-Verse made a profit. Across the Spider-Verse made a profit. I'm sure the argument can be made that it's the Spider-Man name that's selling.
>The PS4/PS5 of Spider-Man: Miles Morales sold 6 million.
*shipped 6M, a catastrophic number given the amount of promotion it got being a PS5 launch title and having a 120M PS4 install base, and having the PS4 remaster bundled, etc.
>Into the Spider-Verse made a profit. Across the Spider-Verse made a profit
If your standard for "selling" is "well it didn't completely bomb" then I guess we agree he struggles to sell, both movies are the lowest grossing Spider-Man movies ever and only make a profit by exploiting artists and not paying industry standard rates.
Everything that anon is b***hing about concerning Peter's arc in 2 is shit that was not only done throughout the 80s and 90s but Cinemaphile collectively agrees is kino but when Miles is involved somehow it's bad even though it's the exact same shit that happened with Ben Reilly in the Clone Saga
I don't like Miles much either and the recent Peter humiliation is bad yes but you homosexuals make it so obvious you don't actually read Spider-Man and just have a casual perspective of him and are just making it easier for anyone looking from the outside that they shouldn't take the legitimate problems with current Spider-Man seriously
>Peter is shat on throughout the 80s and 90s >it's done as part of his arc where he struggles but then manages to come out on top anyway stronger than ever
>Peter is shat on when Miles is involved >it's done as part of a huge multimedia campaign to shit on and denigrate Peter to ruin him in the eyes of the audience so they can Jake from State Farm him, ends with him not being able to take it and retiring or dying so Miles can take over
Almost like there's a difference between the two, highlighted in the very image you're responding to..
Convenient how you forgot to mention how much people b***hed and moaned about Ben's existence as well, and he at least had the courtesy to die at the end of the Clone Saga
>Some can even interpret Miles as the fanbase. >implying that Spider-Man would normally be this absolutely pathetic and cravenly begging forgiveness for the crime of moping around for a few months while Miles didn't even try to get his attention
I don't blame Miles, but that's cause I'm putting the blame on the writers for being fricking idiots thinking that we'd actually side with Miles after witnessing the absolute fat load of nothing that Peter did to earn his enmity. Like, Cap, Iron Man, the FF, and Aunt May have far more valid reasons for being pissed at Peter and yet they pretty much forgave him immediately after expressing mild disappointment.
That's Wells shitty writing, though. And while Wells is writing this, too, I think the narrative from Marvel/Disney's "prop up Miles when possible" is very much a thing. It doesn't even have to make sense. If this writing was organic and not agenda driven, I'd say Pete desires to be cut a break (not sure how this shitty timeline is working, but I'm assuming in the span of 18 months, Kindred is a thing, Harry is a clone and dies, he almost dies, Ben takes over the mantle then seemingly loses his mind and dies only to come back as a villain, stopped being with MJ, MJ is with someone else with magic kids, starts dating Felicia, breaks-up with Felicia, becomes the Spider who Keks).
That's what I meant. I can't get mad at Miles since he's literally a fictional character, and the idea he'd be this pissed at Peter despite not having the care to reach out to him in that time suggests his anger is greatly out of character.
Peter hasn’t done anything to Miles though. If Miles were actually his friend he would have found out what happened to him, but he didn’t. Instead he assumed Peter was a terrible person and had the gall to b***h him out because being Spider-Man alone is too hard
They can't go into one direction because they know no one would buy Miles Morales books without Spider-Man but they also can't advertise him as just Spider-Man because then people would avoid Miles because of false advertising
Then why didn’t they just call him Spider-Boy? Him being Spider-Man worked when it was just him in his own universe, but not all in a universe where Pete’s alive and in his prime.
>H-He is totally not a sidekick but please ignore all the evidence where he talks of himself like a sidekick. Miles has his own stories like the Clon- like the spiderve- like OM-

Yeah if Miles was a girl and made this exact same speech some later writer would inevitably write an entire comic about Miles saying how they had a secret crush on Peter all along

Wouldn’t blame her since OG Pete’s an actual Chad. Fanboys don’t want to accept it but the guy was a total normie. Dude had no issue attracting and dating beautiful women. Plenty handsome, confident and charismatic. His big issues were his temper and general dickishness.

This is the difference between Batman and Spider-man. Or rather, Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker, especially since Miles is regularly getting called Spider-man now.
Bruce doesn't get nearly as chastised to this extent. If shit goes down and he goes missing, his family knows that it's just shit that he's got to deal with on his own. He'll come back, they'll just have to protect Gotham on their own for the time being.
But Peter gets b***hed out when he's out of commission... I mean jeez, it's not like he's legally obligated to protect his city. And not only that, if Bruce got b***hed out by anyone, he'd tell them to shut the frick up and would probably even pimp slap them for speaking out of line like that. But Peter just stammers here and goes, "I-I'm s-s-sorry!" , as if this fricking buck COON isn't out of line speaking to him like that. As if Peter hasn't saved not only New York but also the goddamn world with the Avengers on numerous occasions.
At this point just retire Peter for a decade straight. It's clear they're not stopping trying to push Miles in the most bullshit ways, so might as well let them have their candy. See how well it goes for them with all Spider-Man content depending on interest for Miles alone
At the very least it will save us the constant Peter humiliation.
I would prefer that they just kill of Pete for awhile. They don't have the balls to completely write off Pete, though. They've had quite a few opportunities with Beyond and Spider Who Keks. Frankly Gobo-Pete should have lasted much longer than what we got. I can't believe some shit that was so obviously coming ended in just a couple of issues.
>At the very least it will save us the constant Peter humiliation.
You don't understand. They want to make Peter as much of a cuck as possible to have Miles look like the better Spider-Man. This is why this scene exists
Marvel won the right to keep using Peter and Strange and the Ditko and Lee families reached a royalties deal wit them.
They were obviously thinking that they would lose the rights for peter and went on to shill miles hard since 2021
Now the deal was settled, they need to throttle back all the bullshit Peter and Strange had over the last years.
>Miles gives Molecule Man a burger >All of his friends and loved ones are brought over to 616 with no strings attached >His mom and uncle get revived too >And also his uncle isn't a shithead anymore >And his dad doesn't hate muties anymore either
Amazing how much Miles undid with one fricking burger.
>Go to buy a Spider-Man Tonie for my son as a christmas present >There is Miles, Gwen and Peter >All of Peter's are sold out while Gwen and Miles are shitting up the shelves
The social experiment doesn't seem to work. At least where I live.

I do not know anyone, black or otherwise, that actually refers to Miles as "Spider-Man" even on this board. It's always just "Miles". If someone says "Spider-Man", it's understood that they're referring to Peter Parker.
Miles Morales is literally the Kyle Rayner of Marvel >Replacement for a character gets shilled and wanked to be special after the original is gone or dead
But after they bringed his mentor or predecessor back they had no reason to be special anymore so tried to fill the emptyness of their characters with special powerups like "He can now manipulate elements with the strenght of mind" that doesn't stick or makes them more plot deviced power of the day than anything worthy of time.
Like Kyle going from Ion, to White Lantern to Omega to fill the void of Hal getting the life he was supposed to have.
In Miles case they have Peter telling him how he is a better Spider-man who matters for real and he gets a shit load of super powers of the day like electric constructs and some forgottable arcs like his own Clone Saga and a Multiverse Miles corps.
Miles should choose his own fricking name if he hates Spider-Man this much.
Also- kick his immature ass
He could try to turn his uncle's Iron Spider villain identity into a heroic one.
If you didn't think that Miles was the superior Spider-Man, you don't get comics.
Spider-Flop
why is every spider-man modern comic about spidey getting kicked in the balls by some rando?
