>I think when Martin finally won for this he said it was funny because he essentially made a “B movie” and that’s what he wins for
I think it's more like a Barry Levinson movie given the action movie trappings, that's why the film was given the award. Infernal Affairs in contrast is just a true action film.
American cities are completely infested with rats. In the downtown regions, they live in every single wall. Builders actually have to consider the mass of the rats when calculating thermal insulation of the building.
The master of subtle story telling, Martin Scorsese
I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be cheeky.

>"The Rat symbolizes the snitches"
The rat symbolizes human nature.
>[Translator note: Rat is a common nickname for people in crime organizations who talk to the police]
I know writers who use subtext and they're all cowards.

I live in downtown Los Angeles and last week I saw a homeless guy eating a rat like a corn cob
How hard were it's feet kicking?
Oh yes, rats are unheard of in any other country.
It's only gotten worse in Baltimore + NYC, after covid. Previously it wasn't so bad to feature in movies.
I have a theory that the entire movie was just reverse engineered around that Dropkick Murphys song.
That isn't the worst idea. Donnie Darko was basically a music video but it's kino.
They do the same thing with trannies and crippled Black folk to very little effect. Music at least has soul
I never understood the ending. so the cop was the hitman/bad guy all along (mark whalburg?)
the movie is fricking great and super underrated
how can a movie that made over 250 million worldwide and won multiple oscars, including best picture, be underrated?
It was pretty overrated at the time but now people don't bring it up unless they're making fun of the rat or the microprossessahs
the golden domed building is that Massachusetts capital building just fyi
2006 was one of the worst years for film
This is my favorite movie of all time. I'm 38.
You'd expect it in Indonesian, Haitian or some regional Indian "cinema". But a Marty?
what movie?
Good Will Hunting
