THOR: LOVE & THUNDER controversy

Man, people are really pilling on Disney and this movie in specific for not paying the VFX team and now even the actors enough.

This, of course, despite the movie costing 250+ mil.

KEK! You have literally NO clue what you're talking about yet you keep calling others moronic! I think you ate one Tide pod too many, zoomer! Residuals are payments, not contracts. Every actor gets paid their fee to act in a production, then they get payments every time the product is shown/sold which is called "residuals". Home video sales, TV broadcasts, etc. God you children are insufferable both in your ignorance but more so in your constant need to lash out about it.

Waititi is an awful action director. His comedies are pretty good, but I'm forced to assume Jemaine Clement is responsible when you take into account their other projects

Jeimane Clement is entirely responsible for What We Do In The Shadows. That type of humor is all over his standup, music shows, and TV shows. Meanwhile nothing else Waititi did alone reflect it.

asking FX companies to work ludicrous amounts of overtime is actually one reason these movies are so expensive: you have to pay them more per hour for worse results.

        Anonymous

They are complaining about being overworked and being paid very little, actually.

        Anonymous

Not how that works. If you want to understand the root of the issue, ask WHY is so much OT needed? Because you absolute moron hacks in charge that don't know how to convey their ideas, have no clue what they are doing, and constantly change their minds on a whim. Yeah, that sequence you've been working on? I don't like it, or this, or that, or can you change this part of the uniform because I changed my mind on its design, etc. OT is needed because these studio morons change their minds at the drop of the hat and toss out full days, weeks, even months of work and now it MUST be replaced before deadline!

This is why VFX artists hate Marvel. They work hard, the studio (director, producer, executive, some moron who simply wants to flex their nuts and act like they've made a major contribution to the film) demands work get scrapped/changed, and the VFX studio boss is too much of a coward to say "no" because they'll get the whole VFX studio blacklisted, and now YOU, the VFX worker, have to cancel your plans and stay late to keep working.

It's the design by comitee problem in any "creative" work.
The client will see the v1, v2 or whatever and then every frick in the room says what they want changed even if they're clueless to the overall process and the ramifications it will have which nearly always results in a worse product.

The actors who starred in 1939's Wizard of Oz never received residuals and never got a dime outside of their few months work, meanwhile it's been shown somewhere in the world almost daily since it debuted. Many similar stories. Not all actors are millionaires, and many have had their lives impacted by the popularity of what they starred in. Once everybody knows your face, when the money runs out can you just go work at Starbucks without morons screaming memes in your face all day? I mean, hating on the actors for getting a piece of the pie when it has to go SOMEWHERE means the producer gets one less line of coke, dumbfrick.
