Patrice O'Neal is vastly overrated. Virtually every radio appearance was him going into this exhausting pontificating about people, trying to desperately prove that he wasn't just another dumb Black.

I don't think that would've gone very well. Patrice had his own internet sketch show. There's a reason everyone doesn't know about it enough to quote like his radio appearances, and it ain't heckin black erasure. Otto's Pig Roast was better put together.

          >I don't think that would've gone very well.
Anthony and Patrice were a great combo. Same with Anthony and Norton. Ant knew all the shit you needed to do to run a show he just hated doing it and Opie enjoyed doing it.
Patrice's other stuff outside of standup never went well because they were just things to do and means to sell more tickets which he was an awful self marketer.
Ant and Jimmy being around him more often on a day to day basis might have kept him more motivated.

            >Patrice's other stuff outside of standup never went well because they were just things to do

He's based and has more chemistry with his new co-host Gavin then he ever did with Opie.
Opie is a follower, you see. Nothing wrong with it but I don't think a show where the other guy just nods and goes along in every scene has lasting appeal

      Anonymous

Anthony to his credit has good chemistry with most people. He knows how to sit back and let them do their thing when needed and chimes in at the best moments with impeccable comedic timing.
Opie's biggest issue was he didn't have the humility to let the people around him do shine and enhance them in his own way. Granted he had his moments of being funny he also was very needy about.
