I agree that she is overdesigned, but considering that she works for the demon lord of gluttony(I think???), being excessive in design makes some sense.
It doesn't convey gluttony at all when almost every character has the same excessive details to them. Vivziepop doesn't really try to represent the sins and demons that much. It is treated more like an after thought.

Hell no. golden age designs are usually much more clean, are actually suitable for animation, and are made for the purpose of character rather than pornbait. Look at the designs of Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck. Those designs might be simple on the surface, but they’re leagues better than any design vivzie shat out.
The crew is definitely talented when it comes to visuals and deserves all the accolades, it’s just too bad it’s in service of some absolutely abysmal writing
The characters themselves are incredibly simple. Basic forms and shapes, easy to draw many times over without much fuss.
But the colors! Sweet heavenly father the colors. THAT's what many are referring to here. Every single frame has to have a matching color palette. That can drive even veteran animators to insanity very quickly.
Also Viv is a fat womanchild who still thinks Kesha and Hot Topic are a personality. Ew.
You can see where the cut so many corners to get this thing done this decade by reducing nearly every background character to a silhouette or a static image.
I have never seen a single episode of Hellava Boss but I'm going to try and attempt to shit on this scene. I'm gunna say this is an over animated song sequence of Bee singing an unneeded mid tier song. And in this scene we have her gyrating down, what i'm assuming is some random stripper pole that would only work for the sin of pride or lust.

For such an overly stylized artsyle and design choices, her designs are too over the place they go full circle and tend to blend together so consistently and seamlessly it's baffling, you can barely tell characters apart in both their visual appeal and their metas and cant draw any particular meta connections between them, which are essentially critical design flaws.
No two characters are alike and no two characters should FEEL alike, and Vizziewhatever's designs, the results are characters that look too different they end up looking the same, with character traits that also make characters feel the same.
I personally viscerally hate it, not only because it's not my cup of tea, but also because I find the design philosophies behind it to be truly revolting, it's glorified Deviantart OC autism at it's finest.
I genuinely thought the episode was gonna end up with her cotton candy shit acting as mind control drugs and Loona would have to find a way to solo her.
Personality wise It’s just another brash, sassy, pole dancing popstar, ( though she was far more tolerable because she wasn’t another mean girl b***h.) Design wise it doesn’t really look demonic or gluttonous, if you told me this was the personification of lust I’d probably believe you.

Regardless of what each circle's native inhabitants are, it's a weird system all around, if my brief google search was anything to go by. Apparently sinners are 3 steps up in the social hierarchy compared to imps and hellhounds, but sinners are restricted to the pride circle while everyone else can travel freely between rings. There's also a cast called "hellborn" that includes stuff like the lust pop singer from season 1, but wasn't she an imp? Aren't all of them except the sinners technically hellborn?

There's an image with all the circles' "symbol" and sloth's is like a neon pink marketing logo that says "SLEEPY PILLZ".
I would imagine for belphegor and/or the circle of sloth to be stoner-centric it would have to be green in color, as to follow viv's incredibly basic grasp of color symbolism. Bur green is for greed because of toxic waste. Sloth is fuchsia/neon pink, so I think it's a circle specifically about hard party drugs, psychedelics, stimulants, LSD, acid and anything that would be used in a rave context. So pills and chemical, not weed, that'd be too natural.
Based on what the other lords of sin have been like so far, I imagine belphegor is going to be some drug dealer type guy.

It has lots of problems, but Hazbin and Helluva are like if every single character in the comics looked like Morpheus and Death. At least they have the excuse of being siblings and aren't too over the top Devart fandomy.
Instead of He'll being populated by variety that represents anything, every single character practically is a preteen girl's furry OC from Neopets Devart days who is fine as a kid making a Mary Sue fan character but bad in an actual.show. Not really, though. One purpose of entertainment is just fun and there's nothing wrong with just doing what you love. Other people share what she loves and appreciate it and also have fun. And it doesn't appeal to everyone, but nothing does.

She's dressing it up as something that's supposed to have a cohesive story in a world with established lore and rules (even though the writing fails this on every front). Typically in a visual story a design should make some sense and inform you about the character. But no one on this planet would look at sparklefox and think "Ah yes this character is based off Beelzebub Lord of the Flies, a high ranking figure who lives in hell and represents the cardinal sin of gluttony"
If Viv was just making a random series of music videos/shorts purely for visual spectacle then I'd imagine most complaints would disappear.

HB's main cast is pretty solid design-wise. The three imps, Loona, and Stolas have (relatively) simple designs. The imps look visually distinct while still sharing a color palette, which the other two don't share. The worst you can say about them is that Loona is too much of a furbait character.
HH's main cast on the other hand is hella jank.
I mostly agree though I’m not a fan of Blitz’s outfit mostly because i can’t tell what it’s supposed to be. ( also I’d probably eliminate some of the unnecessary stripes and spots)
Honestly, I think they're generally strong. As lineart. Once you get into the color schemes and all the little superfluous patterns and shit all over them, they're ruined completely. So many of those red/white/black motherfrickers in particular with stripes and spots and asymmetrical patterns, it's like a fricking animated headache. I do not envy the animators.

Gotta say I have immense admiration for how appallingly unapologetically viv her design was. It’s the pinochle of her 16 year old on deviantart overdesigned edgelord potential and they made absolutely zero compromise in animating her to the fullest extent with like 5 color changes. It’s a character design that’s so wild it seems like it would be largely impossible to animate but they did it and she got the person who’s music helped launch her channel and animation to voice her. It’s a true victory lap.
It also makes me feel inadequate and useless just like Loona. I’m never going to achieve anything probably. I felt that way when the hazbin pilot came out too. It’s seeing someone else’s dreams come true, it’s supposed to be happy, but it’s seeing someone else achieve your dream. Loona leaving dejectedly is mood

I don’t know why people watching this complain about the very fricking essence of what it is. It’s a a fricking indie internet show by vivziepop. What the hell do want? Nobody can really meddle with her direction, it’s her thing in her style and her story. You’re asking for something else. A good hypothetical thing for sure, but that’s your idea, an amazing story I’d love to see, but this, it’s not going the direction you want in your own creative space.
It’s understandable to be annoyed that it’s not the best thing ever and we never get what we really want, the state of media and all that, but for actual fans of what Viv is doing and her style it’s perplexing and off target to complain about. It’s like getting a ruby and complaining that it’s red. Her designs have always been like this, when you see a cool thing in her art style it’s fair to say it’s cool and good, there’s infinite options for possible designs, some of the redesigns posted look great, it’s all taste, you can complain about the taste, but it’s just not a show that you’re really into then? The concept might be close and that’s definitely aggravating but that’s how it is all too often.
It’s just weird to see so much “BUT WHY ISNT *THIS* LIKE *THAT*? ARE THEY moronic?” We all know Viv is an edgelord furry who likes gay ships. Why is it remotely shocking that that’s what we get? I would have made her really gaunt like she's supposed to be always hungry, and toothy mouths as a theme in her design, mostly carried through her dress. She could also turn her whole frame into the lips of a mouth, like a 2nd form where she's just a talking mouth. It would look sinister but cool. Frick the whole bee theme. I'd give her compound eyes and wings to go with the fly theme, but nothing beyond that. I dunno why to be gluttonous you gotta be a party animal. She should just eat sinners.

Vivziepop fails at the basic aspect of animation that less details allows for more animation and easier production.
I agree that she is overdesigned, but considering that she works for the demon lord of gluttony(I think???), being excessive in design makes some sense.
It doesn't convey gluttony at all when almost every character has the same excessive details to them. Vivziepop doesn't really try to represent the sins and demons that much. It is treated more like an after thought.

The characters themselves are incredibly simple. Basic forms and shapes, easy to draw many times over without much fuss.
But the colors! Sweet heavenly father the colors. THAT's what many are referring to here. Every single frame has to have a matching color palette. That can drive even veteran animators to insanity very quickly.
Also Viv is a fat womanchild who still thinks Kesha and Hot Topic are a personality. Ew.
The animation is great, its the designs that look like shit.
You can see where the cut so many corners to get this thing done this decade by reducing nearly every background character to a silhouette or a static image.

For such an overly stylized artsyle and design choices, her designs are too over the place they go full circle and tend to blend together so consistently and seamlessly it's baffling, you can barely tell characters apart in both their visual appeal and their metas and cant draw any particular meta connections between them, which are essentially critical design flaws.
No two characters are alike and no two characters should FEEL alike, and Vizziewhatever's designs, the results are characters that look too different they end up looking the same, with character traits that also make characters feel the same.
I personally viscerally hate it, not only because it's not my cup of tea, but also because I find the design philosophies behind it to be truly revolting, it's glorified Deviantart OC autism at it's finest.

Regardless of what each circle's native inhabitants are, it's a weird system all around, if my brief google search was anything to go by. Apparently sinners are 3 steps up in the social hierarchy compared to imps and hellhounds, but sinners are restricted to the pride circle while everyone else can travel freely between rings. There's also a cast called "hellborn" that includes stuff like the lust pop singer from season 1, but wasn't she an imp? Aren't all of them except the sinners technically hellborn?

I would imagine for belphegor and/or the circle of sloth to be stoner-centric it would have to be green in color, as to follow viv's incredibly basic grasp of color symbolism. Bur green is for greed because of toxic waste. Sloth is fuchsia/neon pink, so I think it's a circle specifically about hard party drugs, psychedelics, stimulants, LSD, acid and anything that would be used in a rave context. So pills and chemical, not weed, that'd be too natural.

HB's main cast is pretty solid design-wise. The three imps, Loona, and Stolas have (relatively) simple designs. The imps look visually distinct while still sharing a color palette, which the other two don't share. The worst you can say about them is that Loona is too much of a furbait character.
HH's main cast on the other hand is hella jank.

MAKE BEELZEBUB GROSS AGAIN
Gotta say I have immense admiration for how appallingly unapologetically viv her design was. It’s the pinochle of her 16 year old on deviantart overdesigned edgelord potential and they made absolutely zero compromise in animating her to the fullest extent with like 5 color changes. It’s a character design that’s so wild it seems like it would be largely impossible to animate but they did it and she got the person who’s music helped launch her channel and animation to voice her. It’s a true victory lap.
It also makes me feel inadequate and useless just like Loona. I’m never going to achieve anything probably. I felt that way when the hazbin pilot came out too. A good hypothetical thing for sure, but that’s your idea, an amazing story I’d love to see, but this, it’s not going the direction you want in your own creative space.
It’s understandable to be annoyed that it’s not the best thing ever and we never get what we really want, the state of media and all that, but for actual fans of what Viv is doing and her style it’s perplexing and off target to complain about. You know, one thing I notice among all of these Bee redesigns is basically every single one I've seen likes the Bee party girl thing going on and tries to incorporate it in some fashion. It's just the final execution of making it a twig sparkledog that's bothering people. The series in general seems to have great concepts, but bad execution. Which is why so many people are engaged and constantly making fanfiction or "what if" scenarios for the franchise. I mean, nobody cares about Zombie Simpson enough anymore even to shit it on, it's just so bad everybody but Fox moved on. Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel might also be a mess but there's the potential for greatness, which keeps us hooked.
Shows that have tons of potential but end up being shit are the shows that draw the most conversation yes. See rwby.

People know it's flies and not bees but desgining a fly-based character that fits the show's aesthetic well enough to make you overlook that it's a fly is probably beyond most twitter artists. They're just working with the angle that makes the most sense out of the two Vivzie gave them.
I would have made her really gaunt like she's supposed to be always hungry, and toothy mouths as a theme in her design, mostly carried through her dress. She could also turn her whole frame into the lips of a mouth, like a 2nd form where she's just a talking mouth. It would look sinister but cool. Frick the whole bee theme. I'd give her compound eyes and wings to go with the fly theme, but nothing beyond that. I dunno why to be gluttonous you gotta be a party animal. She should just eat sinners.

Party every day and see how your life turns out. An endless party sounds fun in theory but eventually leads to burnout and chasing a high. But yeah, sparkle bee-fox isn't the best design and was probably made specifically for Ke$ha. She seems like a genuinely good person and not a prince of hell. Makes me wonder if she's actually secretly toxic. When she turned monstrous and Loona looked at Vortex he kinda just shied away and didn't stand up for Loona. Yeah, it wasn't really his fight so he's got no real reason to step in. And you're right, Loona got super fricking defensive cause she's autistic, socially anxious, etc. Still seems like he had an opportunity to step in and try to bridge the gap between both sides. But it could also be an indication that he knows not to try arguing with Bee since she's a prince and can frick him up. As much as out doesn't feel like it, this is still hell so raw power outclasses people's feelings or conversational skills in an argument.
The best thing that came out of this episode are all the bee waifus.
