Season 1 and 3 are good, season 2 and 4 are a mixed bag, season 5 sucks. I feel like we've had this thread a lot lately.
I always felt the show got a little worse as it went along. Season 3 had way too much focus on the Phoenix and Jean.

I just plain don't like Jean. I think she's boring. Replace Jean with Psylocke and the show gets better. Not so much because Psylocke has a great personality, but it would allow Cyclops to have other things going on besides how much he fawns over his generic redhead girlfriend. Plus sexy ninja buns.

I don't know how common this opinion is but I've never once, in any medium, given a single shit about the love triangle between Logan, Scott and Jean. It just feels trite and forced to me

Agree. 90% stuff I can remember about her, is getting a headache and falling on the floor from using her telepathy.
Because it's the Phoenix Saga season. It should be focused on Scott and Jean. It's the only good adaptation that arc has.

As long as you remember it's a 90s cartoon then you'll be fine. It's cheap, janky, and campy and yet there's some high quality writing with amazing voice acting. You'll at least be entertained.

I AM AS FAR BEYOND MUTANTS
AS THEY ARE BEYOND YOU.
The first season was great, it had an overarching plot, yet any episode was easy to understand on its own. Plus, there was a conclusion that wrapped things up nicely.
The second season was worse. Most plots were practically the same: someone from the x-men's past wants to take them back, and the jurassic land arc was meh.
As for the rest, I was never a fan of the whole space plot, mostly because it was too detached from the original human/mutant thing that made this series unique among the superhero shows.
And then if I remember right, the final two seasons dropped the ongoing storylines and went episodic.
More or less. There's still some carryover like Wolverine dealing with Proteus fricking him up in season 4, or episodes tying up loose ends like Mystique's family shit but they're done with the seasonal plots.
I wanted to see Apocalypse lose a fight for once. Why was he never around when something as strong as him was, like Gladiator or Juggernaut
He did interact with Gladiator when he kidnapped that albino telepath and ditched Deathbird, laughing at both on his way out. He also did sort of lose when a Kang alternate helped Bishop frick up his time travel scheme and (temporarily, RIP in peace Cortez) erase him from existence.
