Singular they/them is traditionally used to refer to a person whose sex is unknown. With a specific artist given, it would be possible to check. I don't know about you, but I can't be arsed to, and I suspect the other anon can't be either. So "them" because no one says "him or her".

since the 1300s. The people who tried to stamp it out were 18th century grammarians who wanted English to function like Latin because they were ashamed of their native language.

they have not. though some of what you're saying did happen, to other parts of english
we've been over this, someone cites a 14th century paper using it, someone else points out that is referring to a theoretical person, someone cites a 14th century thing saying you can, someone else points out it says only for theoretical people. you can't win this one.
I mean you will win, because you have. and within my lifetime i'll be thrown in prison for NOT using it, but you can't win the argument without using the power of people-backing-you-up.
How the frick did this go feom Thundercats to some guy seething over someone using them to refer to a person whose gender they don't know?
golly why would anyone be mad about abrupt forced change with a clear agenda behind it
just talk about thundercats. I wish we got Bengali in 2011. I realize we did get a whole episode about the tigers, but it's not the same. Bengali was cool.

Grammarians told people to use "him or her" but I don't recall anyone in my life ever using "him or her" to refer to a person of unknown sex in casual conversation.
>manipulate the norms to make room for more than two sexes
Among humans, there's male and female, but the sex of a person about which people are speaking is not always known. Hence there is a linguistic practice which handles that.

>we've been over this, someone cites a 14th century paper using it, someone else points out that is referring to a theoretical person
For a different example, in Romeo and Juliet (1597), a single person physically present but unseen behind a door is knocking: >Hark, how they knock! — Who's there?
>abrupt forced change with a clear agenda behind it
The recent change in practice is not using singular they for someone of unknown sex, but using singular they for someone of known sex, especially someone physically present and visibly one sex or the other. This corresponds to the neologisms of "personal" pronouns and subjective sex/gender identification.
It was weird that she was the only character with any chemistry with him.
The only way for this to work would be if their was some weird timeskip where Lion-O was dead in the spirit realm for a bit or the twins were stuck in the artifact of riches they were after in some time bubble
Something like that was going to happen from what I understand.
Lion o was going to have a training arc inside the book of omens.
While Tigra became king and eventually fricked up.
Then Lion o 2.0 giga had would return to become king looking like his dad.
They were really cribbing a little from Thundercats: The Return, weren't they? Dobo was based on Doberlord, planned training arc inside the Book Of Omens...
i doubt it's even that much
Lion-o is clearly juvenile compared to his dad. He is going to quadruple in mass before he's an adult, and he's pampered royalty, with the highest nutrition around.
Wilykit is about half the height of her mom AND she's an underfed street urchin. They are both kids. Just one of them is a basketball player's kid and one is a gymnast's kid.

What I don't get is age progression in Thunderians. As they age, they go from being built like humans...and as they age they develop much greater muscle mass (cool), but longer arms and stubbier legs, like chimps or gorillas, as evidenced by Claudus and Panthro in 2011. Wtf? It's like they devolve as they age, but toward ape, not cat.

what are you talking about? They look like big beefy anime guys. They presumably followed a normal path of development the same as big beefy humans. You start out a small lion-o, you become a big claudus eventually. did that not happen to you?
I thought it was well documented (on this board no less) that the show failed and the second season never materialized becuase the guy behind the project was an egotistical idiot.
NTA
But I've heard multiple reasons. >Advent of streaming >Some economic shit skyrocketing the price of each episode to 550k dollars >Low views and toy sales >Legends of chima
The last two are the closest to the truth. CN already had low tolerance of WB Animation shows, so they couldn't wait to frick it over when the toys flopped. Lego already had some work on Thundercats toys that was going to waste. CN wanted to cash in on Ninjago's success. So, they collaborated to frick over WBA and used those assets to create their own rip-off, Legends of Chima, while Thundercats got cancelled mid-production of season 2.
Chima and that other Lego show ended up flopping hard, so CN and Lego crawled back to Ninjago.
Executive turnover at Cartoon Network was another contributing factor since it was one of those "All our audience wants is comedies so we'll kill all the action shows" deals.
NTA
But I've heard multiple reasons. >Advent of streaming >Some economic shit skyrocketing the price of each episode to 550k dollars >Low views and toy sales >Legends of chima
Maybe I'm going senile but I'm sure I remember the head writer or the top art guy or somebody having a huge boner for Pumyra and getting into online fights with randos over her design.
That had nothing to do with the shows cancellation. Some gays on DeviantArt were @ing him about how her design sucked, and he got defensive over his art. It wasn't a big deal but Cinemaphile blew it up because replying to trolls means they win, I guess.
>That had nothing to do with the shows cancellation.
I know, it just popped into my head after years of never thinking about it.
>Some gays on DeviantArt were @ing him about how her design sucked, and he got defensive over his art. It wasn't a big deal but Cinemaphile blew it up because replying to trolls means they win, I guess.
Thanks for the details, I was starting to think I'd imagined it.
Which is hilarious because Pumyra's redesign is fine. Not great, but fine. Now if they'd wanted to talk about actually bad redesigns, Cheetara and Wilykit are right fricking there.
No idea about that, but what really killed it was that the writing quality took a hard nosedive right after the premiere and they kept moving its timeslot, so interest died out pretty quickly. Also doesn't help that network shows (especially action shows with ongoing narratives) were really struggling at the time compared to streaming shit, which is partly why we saw shit like Korra getting yanked from broadcast and dumped online for the last part of its run.
NTA
But I've heard multiple reasons. >Advent of streaming >Some economic shit skyrocketing the price of each episode to 550k dollars >Low views and toy sales >Legends of chima
The studio literally came out when Thunder cats Roar team was shitting on everyone on why the show never took off. Literally it was hitting amazing ratings but Ninjago was still the king and LEGO had Chimera which CN thought would be another hit. So to not compete they canned thunder cats only to have Chimera fail worse than the hindenburg despite lots of interest in brining it back CN refused to because they thought action shows where dead.
I thought it was well documented (on this board no less) that the show failed and the second season never materialized becuase the guy behind the project was an egotistical idiot.
Nobody really cared about this installment after the first episode, that's why Thundercats Roar went in a new direction with unique artwork and story. I mean, when was the last time you saw someone here talk about that cat in the OP?
>I mean, when was the last time you saw someone here talk about that cat in the OP?
Whether people talk about her here means nothing, because she has a small cult here. It's whether they're talking about her (or any other aspect of the show) elsewhere that counts.
oh yeah the network mistreated it, but it could have gotten by okay if the toys had sold. the toy companies would make fricking sure of it. They feed the golden goose, when they aren't busy flushing its eggs down the toilet and wondering why they're poor
well nobody's buying toys at all, but had they made the toys any GOOD, they would have sold at least enough.
But they cheaped out, saying "why should we put the work in, when the show does it for us?" because modern work ethic is season 9+ Homer Simpson. I miss when it was earlier Homer. Still lazy, but doing what needs to be done.
Yeah. Whatever dick-measuring contest WB Animation and Cartoon Network had could've been tempered if the toys had sold enough to justify finishing season 2. CN notoriously hated Mystery Incorporated and Brave and the Bold, for example, but they had enough merch sales success to justify new seasons, even with shoddy time slots.
I don't remember where I heard this... But as I understand it, the 2011 reboot of the Thundercats was made with the intention of competing with Avatar: The Legend of Korra
Mine are good, thanks. Damn where does the time go. Ah well better go spend precious moments with my daughter. A few more years and she'll leave the coop.
>The second season would have been kino.
It would have still had the same writers and all of the same problems as S1. It would have been just as shitty.
The answer to these questions is almost always greed, incompetence or both.
I think it is a marketing strategy to generate buzz and then they think that because the shit show trended on twitter/Google that means it was successful so they go ahead for a second season but no one comes back because that only works once.
Another thing is that because they are streaming shows they don't have to worry so much about live viewers as they don't run adds like TV.
So they only care about calling attention to get subscribers to the platform
Depends on who you ask but the way the words are usually used is that all humanized animals are anthropomorphic, whereas furry caracters are a subset of anthropomorphic characters which have a certain aesthetic to them. Hard to describe it but if you've seen enough of them you'll learn to recognize it at a glance.
the only people who don't use the term furry to describe stuff they like are homosexualy women who care what other people think of them, and are terrified of being called the evil boogeyman of the old internet

Wikipedia says P1 of the pilot was written by Michael Jelenic & Ethan Spaulding, who are the show-runners, and P2 was written by Tab Murphy, who wrote a third of the entire series.
I don't know why Cinemaphile keeps repeating the pilot was done by a different team.
The premiere being a two-parter means that depite there being different writers credited on the two parts, it's extremely unlikely that they weren't actually written as a single episode that got split up. I'd be willing to bet that Murphy's involvement on the pilot was either not that significant or that the entire thing got reworked by Jelenic and Spaulding before being finalized. The fact that they were showrunners doesn't really mean shit when you're talking about the writing for the rest of the season if they were relatively hands-off on the scripts past the pilot. The fact that there is such a clear difference in the writing going from Omens Part 2 into the rest of the season is really all the evidence I need to say that the above is pretty clearly what happened. Either that or the writers had a stroke between scripts and kept working.
Show-runners are supposed to supervise all parts of a series' development. If they weren't involved in the writing, then they were pretty poor show-runners, which I do not believe if their other work is any indication.
On a semi-related note: Spaulding's working on the new Swat Kats. Let's hope his 2nd outing with anthropomorphic felines fairs better.
I'm not saying they didn't approve the scripts or whatever, but unless they were actually doing a pass on each one themselves, then it's not surprising that the writing for all the episodes after the pilot felt jarringly different from the pilot, which they did directly have a hand in writing.
The question that was asked was why it felt like the rest of the season was written by a different team than the pilot, and the answer is because it was, kind of.
>I don't know why Cinemaphile keeps repeating the pilot was done by a different team.
It's unusual for showrunners to not write any more episodes beyond the pilot. Somehow that mutated into "the old writers were kicked out and replaced by new ones".

That's actually happening? I heard the pilot was shopped around, but I didn't know if a network or company actually picked it up.
I remember the homosexual on deviant art having a conniption about her being drawn to masculine. Literally proto incel, and I felt bad that WB dropped the art director for defending the design.
>I remember the homosexual on deviant art having a conniption about her being drawn to masculine.
Didn't he post here too? I distinctly remember some kind b***hing nonstop about her being "too manly".
it's amazing how this attitude is the exact opposite of every other time I've seen it mentioned on Cinemaphile, where they sided against the artist and defended the criticism
I remember there being another one (in addition to the deleted ones in the thread) made by aval0nx. Does anyone have it? Specifically the edited version with the fixed feet, but not the topless version.
The show was rushed and confused from the beginning. The story telling was a mess >premiere >cats are supposed to be the top >technophobes >their capital falls >they royalty is now exiles on the run >the whole population is either dead or captive >next episode they are in some desert, all sense of rush, of tension for their compatriots/subjects are gone >next episodes are the same >everyone around acts like Thundera didn't existed, never fell and wasn't important at all >nobody seems to be bothered by the fall of Thundera >only near the end of the season they address the fact that some people were taken to the mines but the only important person was Pumrya >all of them were using advanced tech like it wasn't an issue when only Lion-o was the only one who had any interest in something more complicated than catapults and sandal and swords
Seriously, it was messed even if the premises were good.
>Is Willikit unironically more popular than Cheetara?
No, you just spend too much time on Cinemaphile and it's warped your perception of the wider fandom.

Good day, Harriet artist I presume? Sorry, I forgot your handle. >good luck with that, it can't be an easy fetish to have
Much thanks for your dose of good will. I have winning streaks and dry spells, it comes and goes like the ocean tide.
Absolutely everything else about the show would have been even worse than season 1, including Pymura turning into a bug and getting murdered by Tygra and the reveal that Panthro attempted genocide. I realize you don't actually give a frick about Thundercats and all you want is to see Lion-O get put on a sex offender registry so you can jerk off because porn has completely fried your idiot brain, but some of us actually do care about Thundercats and would rather see the show cancelled than have Ethan Spaulding continue to take a huge steaming shit all over it.
2011 was a shitty show and Cinemaphile recognized it at the time.
The pathetic pedoposters going "it would have been kino" are fundamentally wrong. The romance would have been shit too. By the end of the first season damn near the only thing Cinemaphile liked was the fun Thunderkittens. Season 2 was going to have Wilykat run off to be an emo thief and would have made Wilykit become a preachy PseudoReligious type constantly wittering on obnoxiously about Nature and Spirits and shit. Meanwhile they planned to double down on a host of things Cinemaphile hated, like Tigra and Lion-o hating one another.
The show died and good riddance, it was an embarrassing waste of an established IP, solid concepts, and nice animation.
sure, and i dropped the series because it was trash.
This would've made me go back into it for some episodes before dropping it again. But the way i see it, just having her design released and a single interaction would've made it worth, is not my money getting wasted i mean.
How you would have saved the show? Asking unironically.
In my case, for starters, I would have eliminated all the pointless "filler" episodes, just with that you have enough episodes to end the show on a single season.
If someone said that the rubber band you handed them was too small, would you take it and stretch it out before claiming you made it bigger? The size has not actually increased, you've just stretched it out, it's still the same amount of mass.
Same thing applied here, instead of getting thinner as it was stretched it got blurry. It's digital so it's not losing or gaining mass but the amount of information available from the image has not changed.
The image is larger, but it is not bigger.

The image is bigger (which is an exact synonym of "larger" btw). Unambiguously so. If you want something else, specify precisely what you want.
Shit, I hate sounding like one of those "THIS AIRED FOR KIDS!?" type guys. I just feel like a western product for that intended age range wouldn't do that if Kit was a human girl an anime would
Anyone remember the threads about our own sequel series, taking place after the time skip, where Wilykit finds Lion-O and brings him back, and Wilykat was a pilot who was still searching for Eldara?
I ask because I suddenly thought of that while listening to the Sky Odyssey soundtrack.

>yup. they were told they might get crumbs of draw pussy so they're keeping it alive.
Many such cases. >I'd rather we talked about the 80s series
A product of its time, badly animated, can only watch it ironically.
I'm in my late 30s you fricker. Everyone knows that most 1980s Saturday morning cartoons were dogshit with bad animation, only used to peddle toys. Didn't start turning around until 1985s Gummi Bears and 1987s DuckTales.
I think that anon got his wires crossed and thought you were talking about 2011
i'm your age and I watched original thundercats as a tiny kid, when it came back on on Toonami I was like, wait that wasn't just a fever dream? I hadn't even remembered the title.
but as interesting a time capsule as it is, it doesn't hold the interest.

Only what I've pieced together from voice actor interviews, including at least two on Rob Paulsen's "Talkin' Toons."
highlights include >Neglecting to secure the trademark on all the character names, requiring them to re-record all dialogue of 'Duckworld' to 'Puckworld,' which by union rules, meant the actors had to be paid for the entire season again >Then doing that AGAIN when they neglected to get one of the saurians' names past the legal dept before proceeding. Might have been Dragaunus, can't remember >having S&P -in the recording booth- hectoring the actors saying this or that line sounded 'too sexual' and needs to be redone
that and just.. I mean it's a sanitized superhero show based on a real hockey team, with goofy cartoony comic relief gags. The last time that worked even halfway was Road Rovers, and they had the WB writing team behind them.
yup. they were told they might get crumbs of draw pussy so they're keeping it alive.

Very nice work, kind of you to offer a lewd alt. Thanks for drawing for the thread and providing good content.
If you size down your draws, I'd love to see these two at original size, lots of great detail in them, like in the sunglasses and what we can see of the swim gear.
I dunno if that was my request specifically, but I'd love to see a followup with her wearing that gear beneath the surface, I really like how you drew that stuff, high level of detail, shame its cut/cropped off.
Yeah I added the mask and flippers as kind of a nod to your request. I don't know if I'll ever do one wheres she's swimming with em tho. They were kind of last last additions tbh.
But I think that does it for me in this thread. I'll be around. Now if somebody were to start a Cecilia nuthatch thread...

Don’t worry, Adi Shankar will probably pick up the Thundercats license as apart of his “bootleg universe” and put tons of racism allegories and childish swearing in it. All while his father who works at Gateway Partners will fund it. It’s going to make Thundercats Roar look great in comparison
>swearing is childish now
i hate this new generation of narcs and joiners >racism allegories
bit late for that. 2011 actually did it well. Convincing the lizards to just stop fighting actually solved a lot, and the only way mumm-ra could keep it going was appointing generals.
I still don't get the point of creating Conquedor when they could've just updated Safari Joe. It's not like big game hunting has ever stopped being a hot topic.
I mean, they did. they upgraded him into Conquedor. So he's no longer a human named Joe who is 100% a reference to a specific time and place in England, Earth.
I mean, there is no shame in being smaller than an action-figure-show universe. Those things are impossibly vast, and literally anything could show up.
compared to other serious action shows, this setting is incredible. it had the potential to live up to Avatar's standards.

There's something ironic about the fact that the original Thundercats got an ending, something most shows back then didn't get, while the reboot got cut short
in fairness, the reboot was telling a big epic story that obviously wouldn't be done in one season. there's still more gems to get.
and while the creators said in an interview they're aware "nobody gets a second season anymore" they still didn't write a lot of season closure.
if CN didn't write it off for taxes (which i think they must have) then they could do that, it's all the rage these days for prematurely-canceled shows
i thought so. my shitty their-kid design split the dif and gave the son a lion tail. i should redo those sometime actually. Maybe call him something better than Wileo. it's a good pun, but it sounds dumb and everyone would just think it was wily-o.

Also anyone has a better quality version or the name of the artist?
In a way yes I like both.
Surprised that there's no fan fiction of this ship. Also I meant what do they see in each other.
I would need to re-watch it.
But I would bet that developing their relationship would be a big part of the second season.
Both in the sequel comics to the original Thundercats, and in the writers' plans for the second and third season of the 2011 reboot

it's almost like you're trying to manipulate the norms to make room for more than two sexes
>false
NTA but "their", "they" and "them" have been used like
since the 1300s.
I mean you will win, because you have. and within my lifetime i'll be thrown in prison for NOT using it, but you can't win the argument without using the power of people-backing-you-up.
golly why would anyone be mad about abrupt forced change with a clear agenda behind it
just talk about thundercats. I wish we got Bengali in 2011. I realize we did get a whole episode about the tigers, but it's not the same. Bengali was cool.
>they said it until pretty damn recently.
For a different example, in Romeo and Juliet (1597), a single person physically present but unseen behind a door is knocking:
>Hark, how they knock!
Is all the Season 2 info documented somewhere?
There is an interview with one of the writters but I don't remember where.
He also talks that wilikit was going to end up with Lion o
Here's the podcast with the play-by-play. I'm sure there's transcripts and notes somewhere.
https://soundcloud.com/tcs2011int/cats2011-ros-revised
They were really cribbing a little from Thundercats: The Return, weren't they? Dobo was based on Doberlord, planned training arc inside the Book Of Omens...
Sounds plausible
>This is the OTP.
>One true pair
that's creepy as frick he's much older than her
>b-but the book
still creepy even after the timeskip
>finding true love between 2 adults is creepy because...
>he's much older than her
hes like 5-8 years older than her
i doubt it's even that much
Lion-o is clearly juvenile compared to his dad.
Oh, and Gorr. Gorr, Panthro and Claudus show this physical devolution with age.
Just repeat to yourself it's just a show, I should really just relax
This ain't Mystery Science Theater 3000!!
Odd coincidence, my name actually IS Joel.
what are you talking about? They look like big beefy anime guys. They presumably followed a normal path of development the same as big beefy humans. You start out a small lion-o, you become a big claudus eventually. did that not happen to you?
I thought it was well documented (on this board no less) that the show failed and the second season never materialized becuase the guy behind the project was an egotistical idiot.
NTA
But I've heard multiple reasons.
>Advent of streaming
>Some economic shit skyrocketing the price of each episode to 550k dollars
>Low views and toy sales
>Legends of chima
Cheetahs and Wilykit were some of the best redesigns in the show. Are you high?
No idea about that, but what really killed it was that the writing quality took a hard nosedive right after the premiere and they kept moving its timeslot, so interest died out pretty quickly. Also doesn't help that network shows (especially action shows with ongoing narratives) were really struggling at the time compared to streaming shit, which is partly why we saw shit like Korra getting yanked from broadcast and dumped online for the last part of its run.
No, It's because nobody cared about it.
Do you have a single fact to backup that statement?
How can I care about a show I never get to see because of its shitty time slot
The writing went to shit after the 3rd or 4th episode that's when people started to lose interest.
Nobody really cared about this installment after the first episode, that's why Thundercats Roar went in a new direction with unique artwork and story. I mean, when was the last time you saw someone here talk about that cat in the OP?
>I mean, when was the last time you saw someone here talk about that cat in the OP?
A few days ago.
>I mean, when was the last time you saw someone here talk about that cat in the OP?
Whether people talk about her here means nothing, because she has a small cult here. It's whether they're talking about her (or any other aspect of the show) elsewhere that counts.
Ever time there is a waifu thread I drop a wilykit in there. Watch yourself son. Doint insult a man's waifu.
I've never seen a wilykit posted in a waifu thread, you won't do shit anyway.
me and my brother still made time to record it and watch it the next day.
Did you guys like the series?
Nta, but yes they liked it
It aired on Saturdays, there are no bad Saturday times lots when it comes to kids
Saturday NIGHTS, no less. And during an established perfect time for cartoon viewing at night:Toonami. PRIME slot.
It didn't air on Toonami until after it was canceled. On Adult Swim.
The CN run aired on Saturday MORNINGS.
I remember it being part of fridays alongside ben 10 and such
I thought the production cost was too high and it didn't do its main purpose which was to sell toys.
it's the toy company's fault. they really biffed it hard.
It was all three
>time slot
>production cost
>toy sales
oh yeah the network mistreated it, but it could have gotten by okay if the toys had sold. the toy companies would make fricking sure of it. They feed the golden goose, when they aren't busy flushing its eggs down the toilet and wondering why they're poor
The problems are intertwined though, because no one's going to buy your toys if no one's watching your show because of time slot frickery.
well nobody's buying toys at all, but had they made the toys any GOOD, they would have sold at least enough.

The first one looks better though
I don't remember where I heard this... But as I understand it, the 2011 reboot of the Thundercats was made with the intention of competing with Avatar: The Legend of Korra
i watched the first couple of episodes of the 80s one, and GOD FRICKING DAMN i cannot stand snarf
Welcome to the club
I thought you guy hated tygra more.
So did the cast.
>Shut up you frick!
>VAs just having fun at work

What do you mean *snarf snarf*
Snarf is the glue that holds the team together
Snarf should be turned into glue
That's too good for him
>aged her up.
Why is this a problem?
If she is aged up, then she is no longer a e-girl.
Get help.
How did they get away with this?
Would she really act like that?
>Would she really act like that?
No. She'd love being drawn and then demand to be drawn making out with Lion-o.
what if she only aged up to a hebe and had slightly larger hips and breasts?
Kind of off-topic but it feels like only the blue boards use "kino" as a word.
Am I the only one who had issues with that outfit?
Why?
Cause that outfit is inappropriate for a minor.
You're right. If she's gonna be swinging a pick for a living, she'd by God better wear a hardhat with that sarong.
Are there fan art of her without the sarong?
lol.
I do. As a cat, she is wearing far too much clothing.
>12 years later
How's wife and kids, anon?
Mine are good, thanks. Damn where does the time go. Ah well better go spend precious moments with my daughter. A few more years and she'll leave the coop.
>The second season would have been kino.
It would have still had the same writers and all of the same problems as S1. It would have been just as shitty.
Nah, they said they were going to correct those issues they had in the first season
Saying and doing are two different things.
Writers acknowledging flaws is a rarity these days. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for simply not doubling down and blaming fans.
Probably right.
That being said we'd have had a second season if it came out today. Seems like everything gets two seasons these days.
Yeah even actual trash like "masters of the universe" and Velma.
Why is every show getting a second season regardless of reception?
Someone has probably figured out a way to make quick money out of it.
I thought it was just to spite the audience and critics.
Cheetara's design would be better with a tail
For me it's her brother
What do you see in him?
He's so cute and adorable and stupid
my dick
The frick is going on with their legs? Are they attached with doll joints?
I think it's to make them easier to animate.

Funny how it's the other way round in the 2011 show
There's a persistent rumor that wilykit and kat were originally meant to be smaller "housecats" not actual children
In color.
Can't read Japanese.
What's the difference between anthromorphic and furry?
how delusional you are
It's furry if its fetishized, but everything is fetishized by someone, so functionally nothing.
Nothing, the difference is between kemonomimi, which the thundercats are, and furries/anthros.
Kemonomini is just having ears. The Thundercats are covered in fur so they aren't kemonomimi.
Too bad this a blue board.
I don't understand.
the only people who don't use the term furry to describe stuff they like are homosexualy women who care what other people think of them, and are terrified of being called the evil boogeyman of the old internet

In hindsight, only the first part of the pilot was ever any good... Even part 2 of the pilot showed signs of what was to come.
They should have had the whole season set actually in the city.
With their plans with that crack ship and the other things they had planned thank God this got cancelled
>crack ship
How is that a crack ship?
Why exactly did the pilot feel like it was written by an entirely different staff from the rest of the show? It was actually fun.
Because it literally was lmao
>Let's hope his 2nd outing with anthropomorphic felines fairs better.
A reboot, too, no less.
>I don't know why Cinemaphile keeps repeating the pilot was done by a different team.
It's unusual for showrunners to not write any more episodes beyond the pilot. Somehow that mutated into "the old writers were kicked out and replaced by new ones".
>On a semi-related note: Spaulding's working on the new Swat Kats. Let's hope his 2nd outing with anthropomorphic felines fairs better.
That's actually happening? I heard the pilot was shopped around, but I didn't know if a network or company actually picked it up.
The things I'd do to wilykit og or new.

but honestly frick CN
I remember the homosexual on deviant art having a conniption about her being drawn to masculine. Literally proto incel, and I felt bad that WB dropped the art director for defending the design.
WB really is garbage.
>I remember the homosexual on deviant art having a conniption about her being drawn to masculine.
Didn't he post here too? I distinctly remember some kind b***hing nonstop about her being "too manly".
Don't know if that was the case but wouldn't be surprised it was a shitposter from here at all baiting a response.
Think he was b***hing about Pumyra first, then Wileykit, then extended the "too masculine" thing to every woman on the show.
it's amazing how this attitude is the exact opposite of every other time I've seen it mentioned on Cinemaphile, where they sided against the artist and defended the criticism
>old Tcats

oh is that the same guy.. honestly the art in that is ROUGH.

Damn Megusuki, needs enslavement and /collared/
I've noticed a sharp upward trend in Thundercats 2011 posting recently
The show was rushed and confused from the beginning. The story telling was a mess
>premiere
>cats are supposed to be the top
>technophobes
>their capital falls
>they royalty is now exiles on the run
>the whole population is either dead or captive
>next episode they are in some desert, all sense of rush, of tension for their compatriots/subjects are gone
>next episodes are the same
>everyone around acts like Thundera didn't existed, never fell and wasn't important at all
>nobody seems to be bothered by the fall of Thundera
>only near the end of the season they address the fact that some people were taken to the mines but the only important person was Pumrya
>all of them were using advanced tech like it wasn't an issue when only Lion-o was the only one who had any interest in something more complicated than catapults and sandal and swords
Seriously, it was messed even if the premises were good.
Is Willikit unironically more popular than Cheetara?
>Is Willikit unironically more popular than Cheetara?
No, you just spend too much time on Cinemaphile and it's warped your perception of the wider fandom.
thats correct but the wider fandom doesnt exist anymore and we are the only ones left who actually still give a shit. everyone else has moved on.
so, NOW, i would say its true. it wasnt true before
>the wider fandom doesnt exist anymore
Like I said, you spend too much time on Cinemaphile.
theyre all dead bro
Whatever. If you don't know how to use a search engine in 2023, that's nobody's fault but yours.
there is no active fanbase anymore. theres people who remember it, even have nostalgia, but thats it

Probably closed. I'm kinda more busy than I thought I would be. Don't think I'll be able to get to the reqs. Hence why I shared the sketch. I'm also thinking of taking a break. Starting to feel a little burnt out again. Holidays are coming up anyway.

You forgot "officer"
they should revive since that woman is no longer there.
But the way i see it, just having her design released and a single interaction would've made it worth, is not my money getting wasted i mean.
>it was an embarrassing waste of an established IP, solid concepts, and nice animation.
So when did it get bad?
first episode
Objectively wrong
How you would have saved the show? Asking unironically.
In my case, for starters, I would have eliminated all the pointless "filler" episodes, just with that you have enough episodes to end the show on a single season.

Sir, the contract was honored to the letter.
>If someone said that the rubber band you handed them was too small, would you take it and stretch it out before claiming you made it bigger?
For you? Yes.
>The image is larger, but it is not bigger.
The image is bigger (which is an exact synonym of "larger" btw). Unambiguously so. If you want something else, specify precisely what you want.

indeed. which is why despite it being completely sfw and showing no more than the show regularly does, I still catboxed it. can't take chances.
has anyone noticed the captchas stop working if you don't periodically refresh a page? is that to stop people seeing deleted posts?
If she was thicc shed have Thunderthighs
if her chest ever grows, she'll have thunderbaps
and they'll be on the loose
If her ass grows she'll have thunderbraps
what would happen if you petted wilykit just above her tail
she'd go MEEEEOOOWWW MLAM MLAM MLAM MLAM and go down on you
I wish I had time to draw wilykits for you guys
Do it FRICK time. Are you a b***h to time? Dont be times b***h. You frick time it doesnt frick you, understand?!
time fricks me every damn day... i just try to lube up the best I can
That you Panz?
panz always has time, he is an amazing guy. I miss having him on discord i dunno what happened.
Why are you keeping this thread alive on life support? 275 posts in 4 days? Sustained by thirst alone
yup. they were told they might get crumbs of draw pussy so they're keeping it alive.
I'd rather we talked about the 80s series because i've not really seen much said about it on Cinemaphile because everyone starts talking about how shit the 2011 one was, and/or thirsting for the e-girl again
pretty tiresome after a while tbh
>yup. they were told they might get crumbs of draw pussy so they're keeping it alive.
Many such cases.
>I'd rather we talked about the 80s series
A product of its time, badly animated, can only watch it ironically.

I hadn't even remembered the title.
but as interesting a time capsule as it is, it doesn't hold the interest.
and you're dead right, gummi bears was the start of the renaissance of TV animation, which ended with Mighty Ducks. The behind the scenes stories on that one are so hilariously tragic. Just the most moronic exec decisions you can imagine.
>The behind the scenes stories on that one are so hilariously tragic. Just the most moronic exec decisions you can imagine.
Is there some documentary on it? Fill me in.
Only what I've pieced together from voice actor interviews, including at least two on Rob Paulsen's "Talkin' Toons."
highlights include
>Neglecting to secure the trademark on all the character names, requiring them to re-record all dialogue of 'Duckworld' to 'Puckworld,' which by union rules, meant the actors had to be paid for the entire season again
>Then doing that AGAIN when they neglected to get one of the saurians' names past the legal dept before proceeding. Might have been Dragaunus, can't remember
>having S&P -in the recording booth- hectoring the actors saying this or that line sounded 'too sexual' and needs to be redone
that and just.. I mean it's a sanitized superhero show based on a real hockey team, with goofy cartoony comic relief gags. The last time that worked even halfway was Road Rovers, and they had the WB writing team behind them.
there's no wall keeping you in
also I can understand the scaled-up wilykit control art not being ideal, but it's better than nothing
Everyone should know wilykit these days. Shes a staple. And if she isn't she should be.
oh cute. she looks good with manytails.
*last minute additions* goddammit
>I don't know if I'll ever do one wheres she's swimming with em tho. They were kind of last additions tbh.
Ah okay. Perhaps another time. I recall you mentioning getting burnout.
Were those the original sizes of those pics that were posted, though?
The project file is at 1200 dpi. The images are at 300.
I can export it at 1200 but I'll do it later. Gotta go to work here pretty soon
I will keep a lookout for those catbox'd pngs then.
Have fun at work...if thats possible (unless its in retail, then I pray for your soul this time of year)

Lel
There are people that want it back outside here.
morons I brought it up because someone was saying that no one cared about this show outside of dickychads here.
Might help if you learned how to reply to posts.
Beg for your (You)
Uh ok?
Don’t worry, Adi Shankar will probably pick up the Thundercats license as apart of his “bootleg universe” and put tons of racism allegories and childish swearing in it. All while his father who works at Gateway Partners will fund it. It’s going to make Thundercats Roar look great in comparison
Dredd was good however.
>swearing is childish now
i hate this new generation of narcs and joiners
>racism allegories
bit late for that. 2011 actually did it well. Convincing the lizards to just stop fighting actually solved a lot, and the only way mumm-ra could keep it going was appointing generals.
So long as the designs are good and inspire more porn, it's fine with me.
Boo!
If you want humans, you want a different show. I love the worldbuilding in 2011. feels so believable.
>I love the worldbuilding in 2011. feels so believable.
It's also what makes it feel small compared to the original setting.
I mean, there is no shame in being smaller than an action-figure-show universe. Those things are impossibly vast, and literally anything could show up.
compared to other serious action shows, this setting is incredible. it had the potential to live up to Avatar's standards.
I agree, they're just different ways of going about things. My preferences just leans a bit more towards "anything could show up".
I think we need shows like that too, more than ever.
that's why I want to see a spiritual successor to Mighty Max. just with a less stupid name, otherwise keep the settings the same.
>who is 100% a reference to a specific time and place in England, Earth.
Then why does he talk like an Australian?
because 80s rankin-bass was not exactly the best at this sort of thing. should be glad it was a commonwealth accent at all.
this is her street urchin outfit, I think she just scavenged whatever she could find. This is the same basic outfit she had back home, but there were no gloves then. This is like "If it fits, it goes on me mitts"
If the show took place in Transylvania they would be Thunderbats
Thundersnatch, Ho!
built for corrective rape
Didn't they steal those outfits from circus performers?
>circus performers
Huh, guess they don't call it turning tricks for nothing.
Wakka wakka!
Why does she only have one glove?
If they were reporters they would be delivering Thunderfacts
Unfortunately like all journalists, everything they say is complete Thunderpants
Never heard of that saying.
kek
saying something is completely pants is kind of a british thing. keeping in mind 'pants' means underwear there, so it's decently fitting slang.
Bunch of Thunderhacks!
Why are pics are getting deleted?
haven't been on the 4chins in a while?
Guess not.
Cinemaphile hates furry content even when it makes up a large portion of western comics and cartoons.
If they were in the hood they being rockin their Thundergats while high on Thundergak
Happy holidays fellas.
I want to slap their asses with my Thunderpats
>spills pie filling on her fur while cooking
>needs help licking it clean
would you?
can't hear you, my mouth is full of wilykit fur
In the sewers lie the Thunderrats
They all got drunk one night and got Thundertats
Where would they even get tattoos? 90% of their bodies are covered in fur.
i mean you can still get tattoos with body hair. pretty sure they tattoo livestock all the time. or cats getting lil ear tattoos to mark that they've already been caught and treated
Livestock isn't tattooed, its branded with a hot iron. That's like calling a scar a tattoo.
livestock is branded, tattooed, AND that thing where you give them a scar by using liquid nitrogen. They don't just do one thing.
Okay this is quickly turning into the Grumblecakes song.
Don't give me any of your Thundersass
the crossover with TF2 would be Thunder hats
They be asking me online for my Thunder@s
How long before the year of the cat again?
anon.. there isn't a year of the cat, the cat is the 13th animal who got tricked or something like that. it gets a brush technique in Okami, but it does not get a year.
Tiger?
arright I mean you ask me, I say that's crose enough, but if you post wilykit in honor of year of the tiger, everyone's gonna be like eyy why not tygra, what about bengali, what's goin on
Wilykit cute.
>furry features
>but lets him them a human nose
Thats why Thundercats is weird to me.
80s tcats looked weird to me because not only did it look like face paint, but the designs were clearly based on face paint and not actual cat markings
this one's better.
I hate how it looks like they are wearing one piece swim suit but arent, someone mentioned doll jointed looking legs cause there is no line break where it should be.
or rather because there is a line break where there shouldn't be, yeah
it's safe to say these animators were referencing models and those models weren't nude because frickin prudes god dammit always ruining art.
so they just drew the leg seams because they were there. and i think the same thing happened in the BTAS episode 'tyger tyger' when catwoman got turned into a furry.
I always figured it was because these characters were created with toys in mind, so it made sense to design them with joint lines like a doll might have.
it is possible they had the preliminary action figures to use as models hehe
Nice
feels robbed man
Cheetara was built to be paizuri raped
New art?
Sauce pls
>flat gremlin Wilykit instead of trying to sex her up
I appreciate it
Someone change their expressions so Wilykit is smug and Cheetara is envious.
>jannies removed a catbox link
nani
Thats the new normal now.
This is where I give a Thunderbump
I love the palcomix porn comics about those kitty kids. And it's fine, because they're alien cats.
Both kits would look good in anything.
You are sick
We're all sick. That's why we're here. This site is the internet's leper colony.
You clicked on the OP
I've got a sickness that can only be cured by more Wilykit
I can feel my strength returning, but more Wilykit would help.
I want to hug her
me tooooo i bet she'd be warm and scrambly
Agreed.
God I wish that was me.
i want to touch wilykit's fluffy tail
There's something ironic about the fact that the original Thundercats got an ending, something most shows back then didn't get, while the reboot got cut short
in fairness, the reboot was telling a big epic story that obviously wouldn't be done in one season. there's still more gems to get.
and while the creators said in an interview they're aware "nobody gets a second season anymore" they still didn't write a lot of season closure.
They could at least made a movie to deliver a proper ending for it.
Yeah, good luck convincing the bean counters to go for that.
if CN didn't write it off for taxes (which i think they must have) then they could do that, it's all the rage these days for prematurely-canceled shows
li'l cuties.
I often wonder
Would Lion-O and Kit's kids have tails?
i thought so. my shitty their-kid design split the dif and gave the son a lion tail. i should redo those sometime actually. Maybe call him something better than Wileo. it's a good pun, but it sounds dumb and everyone would just think it was wily-o.
last gasp if anyone wants to draw sumthin
the spirit is willing but the time is weak
There you go, letting time frick you again.
time is very aggressive and it has a gun
(and i'm drawing things for other threads)
>(and i'm drawing things for other threads)
Link back I wanna seeeeeeeeeeeeee
it'll get around once it's done.
>he never did
>we gave all, he never came
just give me some hours
panzzzzz?
Nah that ain't me. I already did my drawing for the thread. I'll be around for the next one tho.
How the frick did this go feom Thundercats to some guy seething over someone using them to refer to a person whose gender they don't know?
Pic related.
I genuinely have no idea why he's so angry. It's like interacting with someone from one of those terminally online microsects where everyone thinks and talks the exact same way and doesn't get that to anyone from outside the sect, they just sound like schizos.
Draw the 2 Wilykits swaping brothers
snarf was cute. but the best episodes were the ones that had the least to do with the thundercats
If I had a thundercat egg, chances would be 50% that the hatchling would be female.
Would you buy it from me, knowing it may be male and useless for love?
>a thundercat egg
What?
The first season wasn't even bad, it just needed a better script editor to step in and tighten up the writing.
Bump
