Unsurprising to literally no one, despite the media attention that Tim Drake got after DC made him bisexual, his ongoing has been canceled after 10 issues.
Even Indian Swamp Thing managed to last longer than him.

Good riddance
I was pretty surprised.
With how much DC Comics was hyping up Tim Drake after he came out, I at least expected DC to give him more issues than Damian Wayne did. That way they don’t cancel the LGBT book sooner than the straight book. Granted, he’ll probably get a mini like Jon Kent did.
And give more issues to the boring white gay instead of the chad Robin of color? Nah.
Then he must really understand Tim.
Can DC please fire Fritzmartin now? Not even the Twitter users like her.
If she's good at deadlines, she can pull a Tini Howard and unfortunately stay
The real way to get rid of shitty writers is if they have a career outside of writing comics
Slightly related , but looking at the DC solicitations thread shocked me. Almost every single writer they have at the moment is shit, especially the ones on their main books. It's actually insane. I refuse to believe anyone thinks these writers like King, Taylor, Howard, and all the rest are in any way good enough to deserve work
> Robin has been cancelled
I thought it was going to be that Tim Drake dropped a hard R or something
I read this and was trying to wrap my head around "obin".
Time will tell, but I'm going to bet on mixy here.
That just sounds like birds of prey with tim instead of barbra. But still anything with less bernard, and more...well, anything is an improvement.
>Normies buy batbooks
>learn that batman barely appears in them
> they give up
besides batman none of the other batbooks are good
Normies don't buy books, they only react to out of context pages and panels on social media.
Not that different then /toon/
Half of the people celebrating hate the writing
Half of the people celebrating are Damianfags
>not being both
Bernard sucks and they also shouldn't have been shitting on Tim X Steph to prop up Bernard
>Rich from Bleedingcool makes fun of Damian Wayne, the Hetrosexual, getting his book cancelled.
>Tim Drake and his boyfriend’s book gets cancelled with less issues
Pottery.
Rich Johnston is the worst thing to happen to Comic Journalism after Heidi McDonald.
Is that ya boi zack!?
Anon you're such a blatant newfag
What do you mean? I've been aware of this topic from the outset.
You're a pathetic newgay if you don't even know about Rich the Leech
Get the fuck out of my board
You don't own the board anymore than anyone else. And yes I am aware of Rich Johnston of Bleeding Cool and I agree he is a hack.
I hate that Rich is the only one who does actually journalism instead of just reposting press releases, the occasional interview that reads like a commercial or bullshit clickbait scavenging off hype from movie announcements .
Even CBR is mostly listacles and reposting announcements
Sktchd is the best comic news site from I can find but a lot of their articles and interviews are behind subscription walls
CBR has Anthony Gramuglia, that puts it automatically below Bleeding Cool
They should have put Zdarsky in charge of the book.
Isn't he busy?
Zdarsky sucks ass
Sucks less ass than Fitzmartin
i just read his daredevil (V6, I think). it was decent, no major complaints. couple of badass moments, couple of mediocre moments. was boring for small stretches, but nothing too bad beyond that.
The art choices on this book were baffling, what was Belen Ortega doing these last few months? Hell Marcus To would've done it for $5 and a hearty handshake.
>JUST
Bernard looks like Lupin the Third.
Took me a while.
>Whenever Bernard's not on panel, all the other characters should be asking, "where's Bernard?"
i have legitimately noticed that comics with SJW themes more often have this style. there is something about the SJW brain that likes that aesthetic. i am convinced it is neurological at this point.
this is a stretch, but i feel this is somehow related to autistic males so often being into furry porn. something about the gay, autistic brain absolutely loves the furry aesthetic to where they try and recreate reality as a furry porn endeavor. anyways i am rambling and a little lit but my point is fuck stuff i guess
You’re just ignorant because people who wanted gay Tim HATED this style. They wanted cute femboy trunks not this crap. That’s partly why the book is dead
That's an insult to the fujos who like gay shit and furries, both of which like much nicer art than this.
No, this is just editors doing the bare minimum and getting an artist not known for this style of character to do a passionless book. No one actually likes this.
Was Mickey right?
the first time I read this my sides almost exploded. I'm pretty sure that wasn't the intention but damn it got me good
>villains whose motives are hard to find fault in and arguably better than the hero’s
I only have a problem with the stories they are just bad.
Was he meant to be wrong? Because he’s irrefutably right.
>ivvy
>Harley
>Yara
and that flash
Yep
No? New characters get introduced all the time and are pushed and forgotten. The ones folks care about stick around like Batwomen. But both wonder women characters are going to be forgotten and I forgot that batmans guy name hes going to a background character along with batwing.
Also its really loaded in this pic by putting in a bunch of older queer characters like Poison Ivy and Alan Scott. Who have been around longer then 90s young justice.
Tim Fox or Duke Thomas?
Tim Fox
I think Duke Thomas has managed to stick around alright.
>Duke Thomas
>sticking around
He has absolutely no fans outside of ironic blacked shitposters, anon. No one actually likes him. And his hero name is dumb. That’s actually the most damning thing about him.
Who weren’t queer until twenty years later.
stuff like this has made me realize something.
The writing that caters to the 'young adult' crowd is dumbed down. things are more simplistic, it's more obvious who is the good guy and who is the bad guy, plots are more predictable, things are more dramatic, there is more about sex and romance.
but now SJW shit is all about beating you over the head with it and not being subtle at all. so SJW + young-adult comics means everything is doubly-so beating you over the head with it. it's the most obnoxious combination of things possible to go into a comic book.
anyways i am rambling and still a little lit.
Didn't Superboy Prime have a similar argument?
SBP's last argument was
>I fucking hate comics, it's just the same shit over, and over again. I'm gunna go touch grass, and you should too.
And then anon never did that and just kept bitching and whining and getting more and more deranged fanboy
yes
Are Harley and Ivy considered heroes now?
Yes, mostly. Even Ivy's recent book has her murdering people (some innocent) and it's brushed off as more of a personal issue than the insane killing spree it really is.
Bring him back boys.
But only with good writers.
I'd prefer they kill him off fore 5 years than have Fitzmartin write him.
Hope Damian can get the Robin book again.
Might happen. Gunn’s Brave and the Bold movie may influence DC Comics.
>I want more batfamily slop
Enjoy the next cancellation Damifag
Imagine if they just end up aging damian up and making him gay, too.
I am legitimately worried that DC hasn't learned its lesson.
B-but what about the quirky gay people of the waterfront? WHAT ABOUT BERNARD?! WHAT ABOUT BISEXUAL REPRESENTATION ?
Maybe it's too late, but I think Tim drake Robin and Batgirls would've been better as a group book. Assuming they kept Tim and Steph together, let them open up a private detective service or at least living together and working on cases. Cass also joins in with her unorthodox detective skills that helps balance Tim's slow introspection and Steph's by the gut, go get-em attitude. I feel out of all the batfamily these three have the most fandom crossover(where as other people seem to like Dick/Jason/Damian)
that's a decent idea. Maybe not a detective service because the ills of combining personal life with cape life was a pretty big theme with Tim, but some kind of business cover that they fumble together would work. Tim is a nerd, Cass likes trashy stuff, and steph rolls with whatever so there's endless possibility in establishing some front for the day to day stuff. The cape stuff is harder though because Cass+Tim is a monster combo unless they're nerfed. Even when they were "kids" they rolled all over b tier mooks like penguin+cronies. In general though it's kinda crazy how little steph+cass+tim stuff there is since their origins and development are so closely tied together
It's definitely too late though
I do think it isn't the end of pairing the three just yet. Problem is someone like Bernard is dead weight I don't think Tim and Steph need to be together, but tim with civilian partners got played out well over 20 years ago
Why would anyone read that let alone buy it?
>journalism
All he does is get people to feed him spoilers and gossip. He was literally doing this at CBR before spinning off to his own website. It’s as much journalism as any celebrity gossip rag
It's literally the best we get.
Imagine if every newspaper and news show and documentary literally just repeated whatever the subject of the story told them to. That's what comics "news" is these days
>Imagine if every newspaper and news show and documentary literally just repeated whatever the subject of the story told them to.
But they do do that, specifically because news outlets have been gutting their reporter staff for ages and newer ones aren’t getting the same type of investigative approach experience and guidance as older generation newsdesks did
>shortly after this, Tim dumps and ghosts Steph
Batgirls got canned too. 90s take l after l
>Indian Swamp Thing
you know what? i don't even want to know.
It was pretty inoffensive, but still quite lame. Especially because he was still a dude, he could just "hulk out" into moss whenever he needed. Which imo just takes away from the whole business since the Swamp Thing becomes pretty much a costume.
>I don’t want to read a good comic
Your loss like always.
Damian bros, we did it!
BATMAN WAS RIGHT, IT'S HIS DESTINY TO BREED AND SUCK ON STEPHANIE'S BIG TITES!!!!!! THIS WAS JUST A PHASE, BATKEK IS ALWAYS RIGHT
Anon the book has not ended yet, wait until the issue drops before you spout your diatribe.
Tim and Bernard marry in the final issue, so brave.
What comic is this from?
Dark Crisis: Young Justice, not sure which issue to be exact.
Is it sad that I spent the last few minutes looking for the storytime for the /toon/ reaction is to it, because these days I only read X-Men comics and whichever pages get 3 or more (you)s?
Batman said the quiet part out loud.
>cancelled during pride month
Pottery.
kek
I can't even believe I would one day be glad that a Tim Drake book would end so soon
At least it made it to Pride month
Is that the comic where Tim had a huge forehead and was in every other panel posing like a "YAS QUEEN" gay?
It would be cool if Tim had a conflict based on his upbringing. I would also have had Jason make homophobic jokes about him.
Good night sweet Robin.
hasn't Dick also done gay shit? Dick gets a pass though because he's Dick
Imagine pairing Tim with Guy Gardner during a crisis and 3/4 of the book is just Guy making tasteless gay jokes while both him and Tim save the day, with Tim feeling more and more awkward with every passing page and the comic ending with Guy never figuring out why Tim was definitely not enjoying his company.
That would be great.
>EAT SHIT YOU FUCKING COCKSUCKERS. Right Tim?
>Y-yeah. Let's just get out of here.
>That's rich coming from you, Guy. I saw you and Kyle together.
>Tim do not agree with Guy's reckless atitude and suggests him to not take so many pointless risks
>Guy just chuckles and says "Not taking risks? What, are you gay or something? Let's go, we have a world to save from this army of gays!"
>Accessing risks has no relation to my bisexuality. It's not as if you're the epitome of a heterosexual male yourself. Don't play dumb, you and Kyle have been more than just compatriots.
one of his core traits is that he specifically didn't have the fucked up upbringing beyond sometimes being a little lonely since his parents were constantly traveling all around the world. He had other big conflicts largely having to with jumping into a shitty lifestyle being a hero and some other shit
But that would be the conflict. Parents and father figures disapproving of his lifestyle, and he also has to face his own prejudices
>Parents and father figures disapproving of his lifestyle
Tim doesn't even believe in a religion for this to work.
well his dad was killed, wasn't he? in the 90s i think.
2004, which is the same year Steph died and a year before Superboy was killed off.
his dad was killed in identity crisis, one of many terrible things done in that
His hot step mother Dana is still alive. They should do more with her and have Tim love with her while trying to keep his identity secret.
Just scrap the character entirely. Tim’s shit gets rolled into Dick in movies and tv already. There’s no future for the character. Damian’s going to be the DCEU’s Robin making Tim completely useless and redundant.
I could definitely see this play out, but man. Must you be so cynical?
NTA but Tim is damaged goods now.
His Batcave has already been spelunked many times now.
I wanna go BACK I WANNA GO BACK.
>Dixon
He's burned too many bridges
Were the Damianfags right?
yeah
Has any Tim comic every worked out?
Maybe they could start by editorially deciding what the fuck the character's appeal is going to be going forward instead of changing him every 2 years.
His 90's solo comic was well received.
Didn't most stuff there get retroactively changed to hell and back to the point it can't work with later versions of the character?
That doesn't negate the fact that his debut comic was very well drawn and had very well written stories, with Tim's personal arc about him struggling to be more than just the third Robin.
I'm in my 30's so yeah, Tim is Robin in my book, it's what I grew up with. But in perspective a lot of his angsty stories should had been for Jason, a lot of his time with Batman he behaves like Dick, and his own original stuff keeps getting retconed even faster than the main DC universe. It feels like they shit a ton on him.
Back when he was straight and written by Chuck Dixon. His run lasted quite a bit.
In the 90s Guy Gardner as Warrior was able to maintain a solo book.
He was main Robin for 20 years
He had 3 mini series, a few one shots and on going that lasted 183 issues also another on going as Red Robin lasting 26 issues
was the leader Young Justice in 1998 which lasted till 2003 and had many mini series and one shots and leader of Teen Titans in 2003 to 2011
Yeah Tim been pretty successful till NU 52.
anon he lead fairly popular solos, minis, and team books for 20+ years. A simpler time where a bight, well-meaning kid was trying to navigate being a hero, covoloan life, and love
If only you knew anon..
He used to have a high selling book.
What the hell happened to comic book artists man
Well that one died.
Tom Grummett is still alive
Aw my bad got him mixed up with Robin mini series artist, Tom Lyle.
The thumbnail looks like Martian Mahunter flexing his muscles and striking a pose, kek.
https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/5601561/tim-drake-robin-10
Even people outside of /toon/ are celebrating
Can we at least agree that the new 52 really fucked up a lot of characters, including Tim?
New 52 was good
I don't think many people would argue against that. In general just compare the characters who improved with new 52 vs those that got done dirty
New 52 ruined DC, why I stop reading most newer stuff unless it was non-canon, I was only 15 when New 52 happened but I started reading comics at 8 and even my 15 year old self knew it sucked.
It's kind of crazy that it's been over ten years since the New 52 and DC still hasn't really mitigated any of the problems it caused to certain characters in any meaningful way. The way they committed to those unpopular changes was something else.
Better times
>Damian and Jason wouldn't have been able to do shit to Tim if DC didn't intentionally strip Tim of every single thing that made him unique as a supporting character so he would better fit the "iconic" image of Robin the new bosses envisioned.
>They turned Tim into Dick 2.0
>They killed Jack, they killed Steph, and they put Dana on a bus.
>They made Tim Drake lead the Titans, hanging out with Beast Boy and Raven and Cyborg.
>They had Bruce adopt Tim and even went so far as to explicitly put Tim in Dick's old bedroom.
>They pushed the idea that Tim was now Bruce's son, and even had Tim start calling himself Tim Wayne.
>And then Damian showed up.
>Tim started as a breath of fresh air without the trauma, drama, and drive of Bruce and Dick, and ended up nearly suicidal and obsessive, as a poor copy of the worst aspects of 00s Batman.
>Damian was never the problem.
Is this accurate?
>>They turned Tim into Dick 2.0
>Is this accurate?
No because if it was, then Tim would breaking hearts instead of getting his ass broken in.
To be fair, in 2003 only Devin Grayson was writing Dick as a womanizer. It took a few more years for it to catch on as an actual personality trait.
this was way before the gay fad. It's common knowledge that Dick was supposed to die in infinite crisis and they had been sawing off Tim's edges to fit him into a box for being a Dick replacement. Now there happened to be enough writer pushback so that it didn't happen with Conner dying instead, but the damage was already done to Tim. He had completely lost his status quo and dynamic that made him popular in the first place along with all of his supporting characters outside of batpeople and capes. He was also going from relationship to relationship like crazy
Pretty much. Johns didn't really write Tim like his old self, and added that obsession with superboy.
Killing Jack and removing his step mother so Bruce could adopt him was something Dixon fought against for nearly 10 years. It really doesn't help that he was adopted a few months into being 16 and Tim was already largely self sufficient
Removing Steph meant he got a bunch of forgettable love interests and an ill-advised relationship with Cassie that went nowhere
Didio wanted to get rid of dick so Tim was pushed in a sort of NTT Dick mold
Basically Damian was like a swift wind on a derelict building on its last legs.
Ok /toon/, how do we make Jon and Tim straight again? I need your best ideas.
Just act like none of that shit happened, easy, it's like when people forget Wonder Woman bi unless a writer brings it up.
You can't remove his gayness without risking the wrath of thousands of unwashed fat tards screeching at DC for "fixing" Tim, because it would imply that his gayness was something bad.
Pun not intended, but Tim is completely fucked.
yeah but it's obvious none of them actually bought his gay books to the point that it's getting cancelled, I don't think it'll matter
shit if DC had to say something they could just say "Oh well no one supported the books :~~*" make it sound like it's their fault it happened
Say both characters are alternate universe versions that have taken place of the main universe versions.
Tim, Cass, Steph and Bernard can all join Duke’s new Outsiders ongoing that’s coming out in September.
Now that the dust has settled, was Tim a top or a bottom?
Bernard: Top
Conner: Bottom
Stephanie: Bottom
Stephanie: Side
ftfy
>Tim
>having sex
pick one
Can Cass be Robin now?
black robin it is
Cass already has her Spirit World series where she's paired up with some Chinese lesbian with big sword that's most likely going to end up with her
>big sword
and big tits. could be kino
Then just have Steph on Duke’s team then.
She's not a lesbian, she's non-binary.
So Cass will become queer too
Nah, Gotham has enough tokens, notice no established character is coming out in Pride Month.
Let’s wait until the last issue of Batgirls to be sure.
He said it best
I'm not gonna listen to a man with an encyclopedia dramatica page.
I WILL listen to a man with an encyclopedia dramatica page.
>DC death
>consistently better than marvel since the new 52
No thanks
Don't care, got a bisexual twink robin out of the deal. Comic would still have been canceled anyway
>Tom Taylor
>Meghan Fitzmartin
>Tini Howard
They should just go ahead and get Weisman back on board too so they can complete their spiral into total irrelevance and death.
speaking of duke, it's funny that DC actually had a black batman with Batwing. and it was actually interesting, and in Africa. then just after a few issues they fuck everything up and switch to luke fox in gotham. and the writing sucks. then it gets cancelled.
they had a chance to actually do something 'inclusive' that was good for a change and they fucked it up. now they make us stick with the bad 'inclusive' shit, which is significantly worse.
It was because people were calling the book racist for being about an African fighting criminals in Africa.
that's just incredible. 1. what did the fans expect and 2. why did DC care about some annoying fans.
it was actually GOOD. that should take precedence over anything else.
Can we get Red Robin back now?
needs a better name. Costumes are baller and the general concept is fine when hacks aren't involved but he needs a catchier name
Cardinal.
wasnt it a running joke while he was red robin that red robin was ridiculous?
>Tim once again proving that he's the worst Robin.
Good.
Did his asshole finally prolapse completely?
Is that all you think about?
I know Timbros are in agony but keep strong. Everything will be an improvement by comparison to this.
>>10th issue is the final issue of a canceled series
>>has a special DC Pride variant cover
how fitting
Still better than Damian
Dick will always be best Robin, get fucked Tim fags.
Colour me surprised
