It was a ground breaking long form sci-fi mystery show that became famous because it was great. It has nothing to do with modern Doctor Who.

Classic Who was made for children but became gradually more family oriented, meaning there was something for adults.
Starting with the 3rd onwards every Doctor has one or multiple sexy women as companions. Having something for "Dads and Lads" was the philosophy.

I don't recall them ever pandering to women the way NuWho does but idk what the 70s-80's British woman really wanted to see. Maybe they liked Romana 2 getting dressed up like a barbie every episode.

How is this good for advertising? telling your fanbase the show isn't for you. What do they have to gain from this? Are they playing 4d chess? I don't fricking understand how alienated apart of your audience is a good thing.

are you suggesting the bbc commissioned her to write the article as some form of disguised advertisement

It's not really complicated to understand, the dedicated fanbases for this sort of stuff are small potatoes in overall market share terms. What producers want to do is always be bringing in new eyeballs onto IPs and the easiest way to do that is to be provocative and rage-baity. If you make leftists on Twitter get publicly upset, right-wing morons reflexively consume your product. If you make right wingers on Twitter get publicly upset, left-wing morons reflexively consume it instead. And then there's the hate watch phenomenon that let's you double dip a bit and lots of normies will just check something out if there is enough back and forth internet autism drama and, again, the easiest way to do it is with political/social fault lines.

People like OP help these marketers.

I never even watched Dr.Who and only now of it from here, but like anything nerdy it was in fact created by and made for white nerds.
We will however keep winning because we consistently make new content that we like and is universally liked, we will be fine. In fact it's going to allow for a newer and better show to be created due to necessity. That show will eventually be taken over by people who can't create their own content, but that's fine, all good things come to an end as they should. I look forward to the next good season 1.5 of whatever show before it gets ruined.

This show has always been garbage. I don't know why people pretend its not.

Its basically just cope. Companies release this when they are getting criticism for their woke choices that don't make sense, its basically a way of saying, your opinion is invalid because its not for you, and any poor reviews are just bad faith.

I doubt every writer has access to publish tweets from the main magazine account. So at least one editor saw this and approved it for publication, also editors often come up with the headline too.

In a year she'll write another "article" blasting straight white men for causing the show to fail due to their racism. It's the BBC so I don't expect a course correction even if zero people watch it.

    >THING YOU LIKE WAS ALWAYS WOKE
I'm not a bong but i can summarize this debate for people that weren't there
    >Old progressivist television
    >Meritocratically hired writers who used clever scripts to comment on social issues, and would write characters with opposing viewpoints at least somewhat empathetically even when they are proved to be wrong. This would be cross-referenced by writers with a myriad of backgrounds and social/political views to make sure it was at least reasonable for all sides to empathize with. Examples include Star Trek, Boondocks, All in the Family
    >New progressivist television
    >Written by DEI hires who are not skilled enough to write with nuance, so they bellow their personal views directly to the audience. Conservatives aren't allowed so everything is cross referenced by a yes-men culture of exactly one political view (liberal trust-fund women).
